My opinions on this are as follows:

1- Aisle Runner: Ours was pinned down by DFTW and it STILL moved all over the place so I wouldn't really be overly concerned about the pinning. In fact, if you had a guest run in and do it you could probably have them tape it down...

2- Petals: I had them cut the number of aisle petals in half. It came to $150. I'm pretty sure you could say "only put $X of petals on the aisle" and it would look fine.

3- Petal Toss: We had 100 guests and only "enough" toss petals for 75 ppl in a basket. You can't tell in the pictures and everyone had a handful to play with.

4- Flower Balls: Ask for smaller ones. Mine were carnations and gerbera daisies and they were $85

5- Columns: Completely unnecessary.

No, the people attending the wedding probably won't remember it, but that is not really what I am getting at. She will have to look at the carpeting in pictures for years to come. So, if she really despises the carpeting, cover it up. If she doesn't mind it, save some money.

I guess I'm just the odd one because I don't remember what kind of carpet our chapel had. We have quite a few wedding photos around our house and I just don't notice or pay attention to the carpet in them. I'm too busy looking at us/the wedding party/our families.

If you are good enough at photoshop! And plus, when you get your photos from a photographer, you are technically not allowed to edit them in such a fashion, like combine elements of one photo with elements of another outside photo (where the aisle runner and petal would come from). If anything, the photographer would have to do it, assuming they own the rights to a photo of the runner and petals, but not every one has such a photo or is skilled enough to do so.

Oh, and for the record, I wouldn't photoshop the carpet in a photo from the WP. I really couldn't care less about the carpet at weddings.

That is why I said technically. It's the law, but not everyone follows it because it so hard to keep up with such a technological world. It is kind of like downloading music for free. You technically aren't supposed to do it, but people do it anyway.

But, legal stuff like this is boring. Don't see why my sister is studying law! Any news on the final BEO yet? I am curious to see what fun and exciting things you have planned for your guests!

Actually, I own the rights to my pictures from Misty and I can change them around however I want. (not that I want or need to!) I think it depends on the photographer and what your contract states. The thing is you shouldn't have to change anything around or fix up your pictures because the photographer should have already taken good pictures so that you don't have to touch them up. If that were the case you might as well have someone at the wedding with a disposable camera and buy a Photoshop program. You pay for someone for a particular service and you should receive that service.

Now my 2 cents on the other issues. I believe that you should do up your wedding however you want. You don't want to look back with any regrets. It should be an event that you enjoy and look back fondly on. In retrospect, there are many things that I could have done without at my wedding and saved on. If I did it over again I would probably cut those things out. I am happy I spent the money on my ceremony decorations because I got put into that plain ballroom and if I didn't have the decorations, I would have hated it. Now the WP is beautiful on it's own but I don't see any problem with having alter decorations. You want a nice surrounding for your pictures. The aisle runner you can take or leave. If it is something that you want an in your budget, I say go for it.

The aisle petals are a waste. I had them and they looked like crap after everyone walked over them. I would maybe sprinkle a few but not $400.00 worth.

The toss petals, IMO, are worth the money. They make for beautiful pictures and are much better than bubbles (which stain) and birdseed. I think the basket is much better and if I could go back I would have done that instead of those individual tulle bags that I paid $3.50 each for.

I think the chocolate favors sound really cute and I would stick with those. They sound like they fit the theme and who doesn't love candy. They will be used. I think favors that are useless are a waste.

My advice as a past bride would be to take a look at the BEO. Think of what you would look back on and regret if you didn't have. You will have your pictures forever so if decorations are going to make those pictures better for you to look at; go for them.

Cutting extras in food is a no brainer. People will not miss a certain appetizer or side dish.

Transportation-I think looks good in photos if you have a special type of transportation. I hated the thought of a limo so I am happy I splurged on the carriage because it made for incredible pictures.

Linens-I didn't have special linens except on my head table and cake table. I thought my venue was decorated up enough. I don't know how the tables are at Tamu Tamu. You may need linens. If you aren't really going to have a photographer there, that may be a place to cut costs. If the tables are decorative on their own, maybe just do the napkins? That is hard to say without seeing the tables. If the tables are ugly then I am all for linens.

Just take the time to really think about what is important to you and what you can live without and I am sure everything will work out and be exactly what you want.

Sorry for the book! I just wanted to give my past experience advice.

I totally agree, edible favors are the way to go. It is like those little gumball machines that can be given out as favors... what would someone do with a 4 inch gumball machine?

I know I am not the popular opinion around here, but if I could save $260 and not have the aisle runner so that I could save something that means more from getting cut like the custom cake you are planning, I would ditch the aisle runner.

We had a red aisle runner..that is the standard red carpet that DCL rolls out and I can honestly say, I don't really look at my pictures and see the carpet. I look at the faces, the sky, the floral...never the carpet.

These tables need linens. The chairs aren't really that bad and match the venue, but you need table cloths. You made a good choice with the napkins color and lanterns..they will look really pretty with the African area.
