...

So who are you going to use? Will you have another chance to test run a photographer?

When I saw "earning my ears" on my photographer, I almost cried..but it was after the ceremony so not much I could do..I am happy I had about 6 other photographers with SLR's taking shots.

I say slap a camara in Lauren's hand just in case!! Maybe she can carry a camera instead of a bouquet! hahaha

I miss my main street days (although I dont miss the late nights!!)

We had Amy. She was great!!

Oh good to know :) Thanks!!!

I LOVE your other photographer choice(s) and would be absolutely shocked if one of them did as bad of a job as Randy did with your e-pics.

Oh, and no I will not walk down the aisle with a camera in hand, although I will be making Pat use the camera during the wedding. As for when you are getting your hair done and stuff if there isn't a photographer there yet I will definitely be taking photos of that! I can't NOT take pictures, you know that, so even if I am not doing it all day I will be sometimes. Pat will be in charge of my camera and like at the reception I am sure I will spend some time taking some photos. Like I said, it's just what I do I can't help it!:rotfl:

I am curious- who are you guys looking into?

OMG I was going specifically mention the cake. I love taking pictures of all the details of weddings, especially the cakes, so don't you worry about that one!!:goodvibes

Hi Mandy - i am still trying to get caught up on your PJ, but I just had to post after reading your bad experience with randy and seeing your hair fall apart!

I see karen already mentioned David & Vicki Arndt - they were my photographers last week and I am so thrilled with them. No, I havent seen ALL of my photos yet, but every single one I *have* seen is beautiful. If you are a facebooker, PM me and I will add you so you can see all the pics Vicki has been posting to my wall. We've gotten tons of compliments on them, even from people i dont know!
Vicki and her husband David were so much fun and everyone at the wedding was impressed by them. Definitely check them out.

On the hair note, i used Ana for my wedding. You can see in the pics that my hair is exactly perfect not only in my getting ready pics, but also in the pics we took AFTER the reception (and tons of dancing!). I highly recommend her too.

Ok - now back to catching up on the rest of your PJ i missed! ;)

I'm thinking he must give you all the images and doesn't sort through them to give you the best of the shots. I thought most photogs would go through them first and take out the ones that were blurry, weird light, people blinking etc... isn't that part of their editing process?

As far as I know, Randy does go through the images before he sends them. However, that being said, you own all the images....hence you own ALL the images. His editing process has nothing to do with deleting images. Then you wouldn't have ALL the images....

Also, as far as taking many shots of the same pose, this is what a photography shoot is.
If you look at a contact sheet from any professional photo shoot, whether it be food for a magazine, a swimsuit model or any print media, the photographer doesn't take one or two shots and then change the set up. And again because you own all the images, that is why you have sometimes 20, 30 or whatnot of a particular image. We must have about 18 of us with our Model A in front of the BW for instance. Do we need that many? No, but everything's objective and what the photographer might like, the client might not....and again, you own ALL the images...

I can't see your pics until I get home because the site you use is blocked here in my office, but I just wanted to comment on Randy's "editing" process. I'm sure he can explain further when you speak to him.

Catching up on your thread. First, I just want to say that I think you two look fantastic!! Very cute.

I will say that of all the Randy photos I've seen on this board, I've never been a fan. But that's just my personal preference. I don't really like that so many photos are on an angle. Again, just my personal preference.

But a couple of those just aren't good. He cut Eric's head off in one of them. In another one, he posed you so that you're blocking half of Eric's face.

I like the kissy one under the boardwalk sign. Well, I'd really like it if it were straight and centered. LOL.

Okay. And the second set you posted. Not only is that first one blurry but he cut half of your arm out of the picture. And in another one, Eric's arm is cut out. I suppose some people wouldn't be bothered by that stuff but it's a pet peeve of mine. And you're right about the lighting being not so great in some of those.

Again though, I think you two look great. And I like the contrasting colors in your outfits.

Okay, back to read the rest of the thread now.

I wasn't thrilled with our photographer (long story.) We did get some good photos. It was something I stressed about a lot before the wedding because I'm a huge photo lover. I'm still disappointed in a lot of what we got but it's not a big deal anymore.

My aunt actually took some of my favorite photos at our reception. So I'm happy to have those.

And I just remind myself that while our wedding day was a big deal and fantastic, it's not the ONLY great day of our lives. We have some really cute photos together on vacations and at family gatherings. I have more of those in frames around the house than our wedding photos anyway.

I actually just heard from him. He was very upset, undertandably. He didn't see what I saw and thought nothing wrong with his pictures. He was very nice and spoke for about 10 minutes. Unfortunately he thought his pictures were just fine...even offering to edit some for me. The problem I have is the original pictures are still not good...you can only edit so much. He asked me several times to let him photograph the wedding, but I don't feel comfortable taking that risk. He might do an amazing job, especially since I complained, but what if he doesn't...what if our wedding pictures come out like this :confused3

Definitely get a new photographer if that's what would make you more comfortable. Don't let him talk you into keeping him. Hopefully you can get some of your deposit back.

I see what you are saying about her owning all the photos but the problem with the photos is they seem to not be edited at all and if they were not well. I think that Amanda would be happy with that many photos if the really good ones had time spent on them to make them amazing. Plus, it isn't even the fact that she has 400 photos where some are blurry or bad lighting, it is the fact that there are so many poses where all the photos she was given of that pose, even with all the editing in the world, would still be blurry or be a very awkward pose that just doesn't look good.

I personally am not a believer in giving the client all the photos I have taken. I feel like no one needs the photo where one of your eyes are closed or it is just so blurry you can't do anything with it. I do believe in giving the client a number of one pose, but not 30. I also edit every photo in detail that I give to a client so that makes giving them 400 for a engagement session a little hard to manage when I am the only one doing the editing. I can't imagine not seeing a clients' photos before they wen out even if I had someone else to edit them...that is just insane to me!

I think the most important thing is that Amanda and Eric aren't happy with the photos and they shouldn't be worried about their wedding photos being just as bad. They have other things to think about on their wedding day!:goodvibes

Well the good ones you posted ARE good. I really like the once of you guys on the boardwalk stairs. But i do see the problems with the other pictures... not going to lie it makes me nervouse. :(

i'm sorry you're going through this.... and the whole hair thing stinks too. it was so pretty in the beginning and then it just..well... fell apart! I hope everything gets worked out. Sending good thoughts!!!

I'm sorry about the bad photos. I am also not a fan of Randy (although I have seen some nice shots from him).

Have you considered going with a Disney photographer? I know they don't have the best rep, but it would count towards your minimum and you could have them at your reception (I personally would want a photographer for the entire day). While you could have Disney and someone else at the ceremony, that's just extra money.

You definitely have to do what's going to make you most comfortable. Even if he would have done an awesome job with your wedding pics, if you're worried the whole time about how they'll come out, it'll show on your face.

I hope it all works out. I do agree that the pictures that you said were good were actually good. You are very photogenic and I think that if you had the right photographer that you felt comfortable with you would have amazing pictures. :goodvibes
