I agree with others who have suggested giving the child a small girly bag and a little girl-to-girl talk about how our bodies change when we get about 8yo and we start sweating more and our hair gets oily & dirty. We get stinky and then our friends might make fun. So here's what *I* do (you, that is): "I use *this* for washing myself with, especially under my arms and in all the girly places that you don't want to be stinky. I use *this* for my hair every other night. And I use *this* to make my skin soft. I have to use all three or it won't work!"" And send her on her way. Tell her to come back after she uses all her products and you will paint her fingernails for her. I'd get her a little bow for her hair too, and maybe take her picture.
My younger sister was one of those stinky girls. OMG, she could clear a room! Everyone in the family had to tell her to bathe and she still didn't get it right. I don't think she was even getting wet! But we all lived through it.
Now I'm going through it with DS14 and no matter what I do I can't get the smell off (and I bathe him myself, so I KNOW he's clean!) He smells like a goat-boy.
