$207 Base for VGF2. Great incentives!

We are here and did a GFV tour yesterday. Interestingly they started with a 2 bedroom, which we loved. Then they took us to the new GFV2 studios , which we did NOT love. With the smaller rooms and lack of toaster I just can’t see us ever staying in one.

But … we are considering buying 150 points … it’s probably one of our only chances to get in with direct points that won’t have the resale restriction attached to them. We were in the market for more resale points but at this price it’s pretty close. We have to decide before we leave on Sunday as Disney doesn’t allow us to purchase at home from our province. Hmm.
I thought the vgf2 studios were larger than the vgf1 studios?

No, we just don't usually plan that far ahead. It's a matter of waiting to see how much PTO we have after other trips are planned, working around school schedules, waiting for prices on flights to be released...etc. We absolutely love SSR, that's probably where we would still plan our longer trips (currently have 8 nights booked as soon as school lets out). And it's definitely nice that I know that most of the time I can find a room there or AKL or even Poly. These other smaller trips we take tend to be last minute when I happen to find cheap plane tickets. Like there's a weekend in November where the kids have a friday off that would be a good time to take a trip... but I wouldn't book anything until I see what the flights are.
We are in a similar boat. I own SSR and love the proximity to Disney Springs, it’s easy to book at most times of the year without booking at 11/7 months, and the room renovations are great. But I would like to own a small number (75ish) of points at either a monorail resort or Riviera, that don’t have resale restrictions. I don’t need a blue card (likely won’t take advantage of the benefits). I usually don’t plan trips 11 months out but I suppose I could always book something then try to modify later if needed. If I had my choice I would prob pick CCV or BLT as a home resort over GF, due to lower point charts and more 1bedrooms available, but not willing to pay the cost of direct points for those right now (and wouldn’t have bought enough to take advantage of the recent BLT incentives). So I keep going back and forth between buying GF2 or just waiting to see what happens.

So my apologies if this has already been covered (I tried to search the threads but they are loooooooooong). Do you suspect that New Buyer incentives will be similar for VGF2 as they are for existing members? We purchased direct 200 points at Riviera today. Primarily for the length of the contract and the love of the resort. BUT our family loves The Grand even more. We have been given the option to hold off on signing our contract until the 31st when the offer is released. Our guide said he has NO idea what that offer might be, but he also highly suggested we hold out since The Grand is ultimately where we originally wanted. Thoughts? The new member buy-ins will NOT have restrictions that have been made public correct? I know The Riviera does; while we have no intentions of selling, in the event disaster strikes I'd still like to make it easier if we HAVE to sell. Thanks everyone! (I can delete if this was asked ad nauseum and my dumb*ss just missed it, lol)

I definitely would if I were you, we bought in and need 2BRs, so for the time being at least we won’t be even trying for the new rooms but wanted to own a MK resort direct. This fit the bill perfectly. I would never buy resale if it were even close to the direct price, but that’s just me.
We currently own at PVB and love it there - if this was an epcot area resort I’d be all over it in a heartbeat. I don’t know if we need 2 MK home resorts … but I think just having the extra points for flexibility will be beneficial for us.
They are.
Oh I did not know that. Admittedly I did not see the GFV1 studios - we are used to PVB studios which are very spacious. I think the 2 real beds may have contributed to it feeling smaller.

Member incentives tend to be better than they are for new buyers. I believe that the incentives for members is expected to change on March 31 and will not be as attractive as they are right now. It's been reported by DVC News (and I hate keep quoting them but they're my go-to resource) the member incentives will be from $3-$5 less than they are now come March 31.

Do we think the $207 price per point will stay after March 31, or will that likely go up too? Anyone know?

Is there anyplace that tells you how many total points are at the different dvc resorts? I’m interested in whether the VGF1 release was larger than the VGF2 release. I read that VGF1 sold out in 18 months, so wondering if it’s possible VGF2 would sell out faster than that.

Are you sticking with your current use year? Since I want a different one I'd have to buy a minimum of 150 if I go with VGF2. I don't really NEED that many points but I am sure I'd use them. Or could try to rent them out to recoup some cost. It would be nice to be able to possibly book at Riviera every now and then though with the direct points. I love it there but didn't want to buy in with the resale restrictions. Ugh so 150 direct at VGF2 or a smaller resale at another MK resort... I'm still stuck lol.

I would keep the same use year, it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference for me. Why do you want to switch? I really just can’t stomach Riviera’s resale restrictions. It seems like it will be a mess in 10-15 years when there are a ton of resale points out there that can’t book anywhere else.

I have a March use year. That means anything I book in November or December would be outside my banking window. We do our long trips usually in the spring or summer so March is perfect for that, but not ideal for winter

Since you have to cancel 31 days or more in advance to not have the points go into holding it really ends up that reservations in Nov fall into your March banking deadline too. If you cancelled closer in they'd be stuck in that UY anyway no matter when the deadline was.

Good point, I never really thought about that. I mean we aren't really people who cancel trips anyhow so it probably wouldn't be a big deal but I'm just an overthinker/overworrier lol

Live walk through of the new rooms right now, not sure if this has been done yet as never was planning on buying VG2
The new resort studios look stunning. I love the Mary Poppins little details. I wasn't sure about the 2 queens, but I hadn't understood that there would be a couch as well. Really well done.
I just don't understand why haven't they added a microwave anyway. I don't mind the lack of kitchen sink, but I use the microwave a lot.

Agree about the microwave. I’ve said it whenever it comes up- how hard would it have been to put a microwave and toaster in each room. No sink isn’t a big deal, but no microwave is annoying and easily fixed!

Edited to correct some egregious autocorrects and typos!

I still don’t understand how the vgf2 opening date hasn’t been announced yet given booking starts Monday.
