Anyone watching this on TLC right now?

I agree. I saw the commercial for this show and was like this :sad2:

I wont even watch them. You are not old fashioned in a bad way, C. Ann... morals have just beocme something you should be ashamed of.
Whatever. I say NEVER KEEP UP WITH THE JONES'. THE JONES' ARE IN-FREAKING-SANE!

I get a cow I get a cow

We are watching it and my DD11 is appalled. She HAD wanted to do pageants. Now she can see why I said NO.

Is that the one with the little girl who gets the piece for her mouth, so she doesn't appear to have lost her teeth? On that same show, the 2 lesbian mothers have a beautiful little girl - but then their home is shown, looks like welfare apartments - then they spend thousands of $$ getting the little girl ready, and you see them driving to the pageant - babies not in car seats, too many people for the seatbelts in their car - priorities and all :sad2:

It's the fake teeth that really get me. God forbid, a 7 year old girl be seen how she really looks-with missing teeth and a gap-toothed smile. No, they have to put fake teeth in her mouth that make her whole face look odd.

Yes, that's the one. I was a bit shocked.

I just find the whole thing...I'm trying to think of the right word......creepy, I guess.

That host is over the top.

All the kid cared about was now she had the money to "buy a cow" - so what does that tell you about who is really pushing for her to be in these pageants?

Also - did you hear the little girls arguing on the way out? "My trophy is heavier.." "Well my trophy is bigger!!"

There's either another episode of that type on right now or it's the first one over again.. I didn't catch the first one from the beginning..

This show about the little British girl going to the American beauty pagent is frightening. Her hair is already fried to bits at 11, and she has fake nails on! The poor little girl just looks so sad!

You mean the scholarship program? Personally, I think childrens beauty pageants are a form of child abuse, but hey, thats just my opinion.

I have a 16 month old and am always told that she should be in pagents, NO WAY NO HOW would I make her do that.

I'm sorry but kids are not supposed to be painted with makeup and made to act 20 years older than they are. They grow up to fast as it is.

I think it is sick and sad that any parent would put their child in one of these pageants.

I used to belong to a parents group, of sorts, and this one mother had her daughter in these things and she posted the pics of the dress she had purchased online for her daughter to wear. I can't remember the exact age of the child, but she was MAYBE in 1st grade (???) anyway, I swear to you it looked like something a stripper would wear. Me being me could not hold my tongue, or in this case, sit on my hands. I had to say something.

Jon Bennet anyone????

When DGD was about 1 we put her in some pagents. Did not take us long to realize we were in the wrong place.

And I know what you mean about parents spending lots of money for dresses and you know they do not have that kind of money. Makes you wonder where it comes from.

We've had our granddaughter in two, both to benefit charity. She has already said she doesn't want to be in it this year so we won't push the issue. Last year I raved about how pretty a young girls hair was until someone told me it was fake:rotfl2: She had to be about 7 or 8 years old.
