2026 Point Schedules are out

Thanks! I've wondered for years how and when it was that we suddenly didn't have enough points for Thanksgiving at Hilton Head. We had enough (100) points for Sun-Thurs in a 1 BR in 2008. But in 2010, points were reallocated so we now needed 105 points. But the weekend points were lowered in 2010.
I can't imagine the HHI weekend points were even worse before!!! The disparity they have is already so jarring...

Sorry for you they made the weekdays worse though...

I kinda' understand the changes, as the Point Miser's (I'm one) really covet the Standard rooms S-Th Seasons 1-3. So much so that walking a reservation is the new normal. Our regular BWV stays in a Std Studio will now be 10% more (50 pts vs. 45 pts.). Similar changes for our OG BLT resort. However in our late 60's, we are now transitioning more to 1 BR's. Fortunately the 1 BR points haven't change for our travel patterns.

So DVD is responding as they should to drive more owners to consider upgrading their room category, and to change their travel dates as the point delta becomes more equitable.

We shall survive and adapt to these changes as we always do. This will also make my spreadsheet analysis even more fun as we plan our future trips and adventures.

Its weird to not have any changes at RIV and such a minor one at BWV. Their goal is to balance demand and I can't imagine its balanced right now with how quick fall/winter are booked and how easy it is to book the summer.

summer could get a little lower I suppose, but with the terrible weather, I'm not sure the points charts can really make summer that attractive from a booking perspective...

Have to be free for the summer for me!!
There are a lot of Northeast (especially NJ) schoolteachers that either go summertime or face huge crowds during school holidays.

If it was my wife and I alone, we would be going the last half of January, but I will deal with the heat if that means my daughter and granddaughter are with us. That means the last half of August works best for us.

And they have worked over the past 5 years or so to raise fall and lower summer.

But, demand is still demand. And going in October , November and December for seasonal offerings can’t be adjusted by a point chart

Thats the point though if they are not equally attractive on the whole they are not lower enough. The goal is to have all dates roughly booked at about the same rate.

I had talked with them multiple times in the past, they then made changes the following year, but now seemingly have stopped doing what they are supposed to. Its not the end of the world as they have at least made some changes to help balance demand even if they could do a little more.

Could Disney actually lower the summer season a good bit more? Or is there a point where, not really?

They have to still balance it out and can’t make a move more than 20% up or down for each use day year to year.

I don’t know how much more it could go as you’d really need to compare number of days, etc as you have to make the numbers work.

I'm sure some of our more math oriented members could create a fake OKW or SSR points chart for us and show what it would look like....

It is also hard to know exactly what peak demand looks like...

Only way I would pay for a Summer trip is if it was a water park only trip. I still like those.
