2025 Moonlight magic

Separate Q: we happened to be at WDW for 1-26 and DLR for 2/3, does anybody know if I can register for them both with the same VQ number or do I have to get lucky with two separate low VQ numbers to be able to register both?
Based on this wording (both in the email and on the MM event webpage):
Please note that, in order to allow as many Members as possible to enjoy Disney Vacation Club Moonlight Magic, Members are eligible to register for one event date during each event season (Winter: January – February, Spring: April – June, Summer: July – September) regardless of whether your registered event date was confirmed during early registration or during general registration.

You can only register for one of those events since they both fall in the same event season.

The way it reads is 1 event per season per member. My wife and I are Members on the same Membership. I wonder if they registered with another members name, if it would work.

Unfortunately both of your dates are during the same season:

I expect they mean per membership (not per member). When MM was once per park per year, we were unable to have a different family member on the same membership register for the 2nd set of MM dates.

I can't seem to find a solid answer for this, but does the party size on your reservation only apply to if you are using points, or does it apply if you pay cash for a room as well? So say I book a room for 6 people and pay cash, when it comes time for the general registration will I be able to register 6 people for the event or still only 5?

Any rooms you book using your membership count.

The only cash rooms that now count are DVC vilas booked for cash directly via MS.

You can’t reserve them vis Disney. So, if you call MS and book several for cash in your membership, then yes, those count for any and all guests.

An owner has to be listed as a guest on one of those rooms in order to be eligible for early registration.

For general registration, it doesn’t matter what or how you are staying…it’s a limit of 5.

It’s only during early registration that one can get more than that.

ETA. And if you want to have an eligible room to try and get some tickets during early, it has to be done by January 12th.

If you have 9 people in the room (has to be at least a 2-bedroom that holds 9 people) you can take yourself plus the other 8 people in. “A Member can register themselves and up to 4 additional Guests per Membership (for a total of 5)—or up to the number of Guests on their Resort reservation, so long as the Resort reservation was updated with the correct Guest information before the Resort reservation/modification deadline. Children younger than 3 years of age do not need to be registered for this event.”

I think they were after the answers that @Sandisw provided since they were paying cash.

She explained if paying cash through MS:

Or Paying cash with anything other than DVC MS or staying off property

Make sure guests are added well before the cutoff date. We added guests names the date of the cutoff once and although we received early registration, our max was still 5 total (not the 9 occupants listed on the reservation).

Is this new? Was it announced recently? I’m usually careful to read the fine print. I don’t mind the policy overall, but really not thrilled to find out while my points are within the holding penalty period.

Does anyone know what time we are allowed to register for the event on the website? Is is EST?

Thanks!

Sigh... I just wish they had these events during I time I was actually there. Have only been to one (the "beach bash" thing at Typhoon Lagoon) and it was back in 2016... 4 stays again this year and none are during a MM time. Checking out on August 10th (of course). I would extend, but we have a cruise leaving that day... Oh well...

Am I the only one that is not a fan of MM? I mean, to me, it just seems like a perk for those members that live in Central Florida, or by chance, happen to be staying when one of these is going on. Personally, I would rather they just went back to having evening extra magic hours consistently like they used to for 3 hours. We are not rope-drop people, but we loved those 12-3am times at the MK... And if they could do this weekly, then everyone would be able to take advantage of it. Or, just give us snack vouchers or something so that we can actually use it.

Rant over. All of that said, I hope that all that can make it have a great time!

Not sure I see it as a perk for members living in Central Florida, since most of the people who will register and attend will be staying as DVC members. There will be a few who get a spot through the general registration, but I have to expect most are staying onsite (and many are non-Florida). For us, it's simple. We plan our trips for dates we want to attend - non-peak, non-scorching hot, perhaps a particular festival..... If MM fits into those trips, we try getting a spot. If not, we're not going to get too crazy over missing a 3-hr event. We've done 2 over the years - Typhoon Lagoon was a lot of fun. AK was also a lot of fun. We won't specifically plan a trip just for MM, although apparently some do. Looking to get a spot next month - we'll see how it goes at registration in 4 days!

But the dates were announced in plenty of time so those members in Central Florida can just grab that 1 night and still have a chance and the advanced reservation system. It is not like us where there are many variables with Flights, transportation to and from, School Schedules etc.

We had thought about planning trips to do the one in August and HS in September but now that is out of the question with the one per season change..

That’s what I remember always reading once per park. That is not cool of them to not give a bigger heads up especially since it was released less than 30 days out.

If you planned two trips within the winter season around MM - rather unfortunate that they provide this change within 30-days, but hopefully it increases your odds of getting registered for at least one of the events.
