Got an e-mail today announcing a few changes to this cruise.

Stavanger Norway replaces Gothenburg Sweden on day 2
Bergen Norway replaces Oslo Norway on day 3
Sea Day replaces Stavanger Norway on day 4
Akureyri Iceland replaces a Sea Day

I'm sad for dropping of Oslo (maybe just because I've heard of it :teeth: )
I'm happy for a second stop in Iceland :thumbsup2

To bad they dropped Gothenburg. Beautiful city!

If you have a chance to get to Oslo in the future, it is well worth your while. I went there with my brother many years ago and I was most impressed with Vigeland Park...the circle of life in human form. Put it on your "to do/see" list. We have not done this cruise, but it is on our "to do/see" list. JRabbit, please let us know how it goes.

They're doing two stops in Iceland now? I might have to look into this cruise again. I was really disappointed with the original itinerary.

Edit: I booked the cruise lol. Thank you for letting me know about the itinerary change, I'm really happy the added more time in Iceland.

Agree - Vigeland Park was very cool. We visited it as part of a Princess CL excursion that also included the Bygdoy peninsula and the Viking Ship Museum. Would love to go back and spend more time in Oslo for sure.

Sorry that you will miss Oslo. We did the inaugural year of that sailing and while Akureyri is very nice and the long fjord sailing into town is a bonus the two places are not similar. Very different stops. Akureyri is about right as a cruise ship stop but Oslo really can be a destination for a vacation on its own or as part of a larger tour but would benefit from a few days if possible.

We made our own walking of things near the port in Oslo and hit the fort, National museum, royal palace, Nobel Peace Museum and took the boat over to the Viking ship museum. It was great and very easy but we only scratched the surface of what the city had to offer. They offer some nice passes for transportation and multiple tourist sites so that makes things even simpler.

Have fun sailing and since you have to sail over the arctic circle to get to Akureyri, make sure to mark that occasion!

Thanks OP for the prompt! The original itinerary had us looking at all kinds of alternatives, but - now with some meaningful time in Iceland - we are on board (so to speak).

The 6.30 PM Reykjavik arrival is a bit weird, but hopefully it allows the ship to sail during the day by Iceland's rugged Westfjords region.

I just found this thread. I don't know how I missed it, OP. We noticed this change a few months ago on the DCL website and jumped at the new itinerary. I don't mind missing Oslo since I just spent a week there last month, and while I think it's a great place to visit, I'm really excited to see Bergen and Akureyri for the first time. Personally, I feel like the new itinerary is much better with 3 days (well, 2.5 days) in Iceland instead of just one. I noticed there is no DIS cruise group set up, but I guess there are a few of us taking this one. We took the same (with different stops) cruise in 2018 and it was so wonderful we decided to go back.

We absolutely loved Akureyri on our Iceland cruise, a few years back! So much so, that we went took a 2 week to Iceland the following year and spent a whole week in that region! We went horseback riding at the Polar Hestar stables and visited an old farm and church nearby. The scenery is stunning!
