2019 Trip Planners, are you going before or after Star Wars Land opens?

We are planning a big family trip in early June 2019. I am really hoping it is not opened as it will be crazy everywhere. We just decided that if it does open prior to June we will go to Aulani instead and head to WDW in 2020.[/QUOTE

Does Star Wars have that big of an impact that you would wait another year to go to WDW? Just asking.

This will be my first Disney Vacation 2019 and I plan on going in June.

I think it will be a long time before the mayhem from GE opening subsides. I actually think that it will be crazy right up until the 50th anniversary in 2021. We are planning on going for both and I am just expecting craziness both times.

I'm purposely going before opening in early 2019 but not holding my breath that crowds will be lower, especially after reports of this Jan/Feb have been coming in. Also, how many who aren't huge SW fans will do the same? Not sure it will make a difference before.

I am probably in the minority, but I have no interest or excitement whatsoever in SW land, other thAn it’ll draw people away from other areas...we’re not SW fans, I’ve never even seen any of the 500 movies. We generally go every year or every other year, and I’ll probably try to go right before it opens

We will be returning in May 2019 after a two year break. We're hoping to capitalize on lower crowds before GE opens. We're considering annual passes so we'd catch Star Wars land on a return visit in early 2020-- after the craziness dies down at least a little.

We are going Nov 2018 before our AP’s expire, then will probably take 2019 off and return sometime in 2020.

Im not so sure it will die down at all in 2020. In fact, I think it wont be until the 50th is over. 2023 maybe?

We're going in January 2019. My husband and I haven't been to WDW since 2014 and it'll be the first visit for the other four members of our group. We aren't planning on returning to WDW for at least five years, so maybe 2024? We're stuck on a rock in the middle of the Pacific so Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Reosrt are much closer and easier to get to than WDW.

Our annual trip as of late has been June. So we will go June 2019 (before SW:GE) and then June 2020 (after it opens). We are DVC so I’m hoping to get Beach Club or Boardwalk in 2020 so we can be close to DHS and head over numerous times. I’m sure it will still be crazy though. We are fairly big SW fans so we are excited to check it out.

We will also have APs (activated June 2019) so we can take advantage of an AP previews that may happen.

Isn't the Star Wars land in Disneyland supposed to open earlier than our's in Disney World? My wife and I are now thinking of doing a normal Disney World trip for my 30th birthday in early 2019 and then do our first ever California/Disneyland trip later in 2019 for her 30th and seeing Disneyland's Star Wars land since I believe it's supposed to be exactly the same right?

There are a lot of Star Wars fans and they are serious about their fandom. I think the entire resort will be crazy for a few months after the new land opens. This will be nothing like Pandora or even Harry Potter at USF opening.

We also live in SoCal and will experience the new land there first.

It really isn't that big of a deal to us. We vacation every year so can just move things around.

This is motivation for us to go in June2019. Because my family really does care about Star Wars. So now I know that June 2019 is for sure because don't want to go when Star Wars open up.

We will most likely go in Jun / Jul of 2019 before it opens. That is to catch the tail end of our AP, and has nothing to do with SWGE opening. Although I think I and my DD's would enjoy the land, I am glad I will be there prior to the craziness of the opening. However, I wouldn't complain if I got lucky and was there during a preview of some sort. :D Not likely...but one can always hope, right?

We're planning on December of 2019. We went in Dec. of 15 and Dec. of 17 and both of those trips included seeing the new Star Wars movies on opening night. We'll do the same for episode 9. I'm not looking forward to the crazy crowds, but I have lots of kids who are big SW fans who have been promised this time line, LOL!

Just an FYI: I’ve heard episode 9 will be May of 2019.
