2018 Disney Magic cruises leaving from Brooklyn?

That's news to me, too, especially since DCL's departure ports do not list Brooklyn.

Hope it is a mistake. Another odd thing was I tried searching through Costco's website for these Bermuda cruises and it said there were none and to change my search. Was interested in the cash card.

If true it's very bad news.

I dropped off and picked up my parents last Fall from Brooklyn port and it wasn't horrible but there is just so much more traffic to deal with as I have to go all the way down the Westside Hightway instead of just to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal which is easy.

Ok...this was bothering me so I did call DCL just now and the rep I spoke with said as far as she knows everything is saying DCL is leaving from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal both in 2017 and 2018.

That is really a big mistake at the Vacations to Go website. The rep said she would pass on the information to her supervisor about what's showing at VTG.

I think it's a mistake. My confirmation says Port of New York. If I click on directions to the port on the website it gives me directions to the Manhattan address. Gives info about parking at Pier 88 as well.

I also had problems with their website for the Bermuda and new Canada cruises, but when I called they had everything in front of them. She told me there was an issue getting the new cruises online, but that they would be up soon. I haven't checked since I called Thursday though.

I booked the NYC to Quebec City over the phone with them last Tuesday and did get a cash card. I just wanted to compare prices which is why I was looking at their website.

Well I sent an email to DCL about what VTG had on their website and I got a reply that said while 2017 is definitely out of Manhattan the 2018 cruises are still being finalized. They did not specifically say VTG had a mistake or that 2018 was definitely out of Manhattan.

Just thought it odd for them to say 2018 plans were not finalized yet.

Sailing out of Manhattan is fantastic! I'd hate to miss all the buildings, etc. sailing out of Brooklyn.

Gross. Red Hook is a) not public transportation friendly as it is a sizeable walk (even by NYC standards) from the closest subway; b) not the greatest area to walk around; c) unless there have been major changes few if any hotels close by; and d) not somewhere I would leave a car if I had one.

(And I say this as someone who lives in Brooklyn. But NOT the Red Hook section.)

I know in terms of miles it is not that big a change and for us it would just be a nuisance since we always have a car service bring us in/pick us up for NYC cruises. But what a headache for people who aren't familiar with the area or want that NYC experience of sailaway.

I wonder if it is a matter of the increase of year round sailings from NYC that other cruiselines are doing and DCL is lower priority since they are only there for a couple months in the fall. So maybe they haven't been confirmed until NY confirms the other cruiselines' schedules for 2018.

I really, really, really hope they don't leave out of Brooklyn. That would make getting to the cruise port all the more difficult. Crossing my fingers it's Manhattan!

Not sure where that info came from of if it is true. Brooklyn would be way easier to get in and out of than Manhattan and you would have the same views. I think this would be a good thing but I find it hard to believe

You would not have the sailing by the buildings, so no, not the same views.

What's wrong with that port? I know nothing about the New York area.

See the reasons I outlined in my response above. Red Hook is not a great area. IKEA is there, but they actually provide a shuttle from other parts of Brooklyn because they know walking there is not really a good idea.

I live in New Jersey manhatten cruise terminal is only about a mile out of the tunnel. Don't know about Brooklyn cruise terminal maybe it's not that bad. I know very little about NYC and I like to keep it that way.

Depends upon from where you are coming. We are 20 minutes door-to-door from the Manhattan cruise terminal. Brooklyn could be anywhere from 45-60 minutes without traffic.
