Man, a report came out today that Joe Thornton was playing with a torn ACL and torn MCL. Hockey players are crazy.

I don't know how he did it (tons of drugs I assume). I tore my MCL (I think..it was the inside one) and I had to wear a knee brace at all times to be able to walk.

Hockey players are a breed unto themselves. Isn't there an NBA player out because of a sore toe?

My understanding about a torn ACL/MCL from talking to people who suffered from such injury is that after the initial pain it wasn't terribly painful. Many can walk the next day with a limp, and some can even walk without a limp. But the ACL and MCL are integral to the stability of the knee, along with the potential for making the injury worse.

I think Joe Thornton was crazy to risk injuring it further. He obviously didn't have the full range of motion with his knee.

I'm trying to remember how it was with my knee and I just can't. It was back in 96. I do remember the surgery involved included an overnight stay in the hospital that I wasn't prepared for. I was under the impression it was a simple outpatient procedure. It was during my pre-op visit the day before that I learned it was a major knee surgery and that I would be out of work for more than the two days I had put in for vacation. My poor knee was so swollen with staples the next day, I was horrified. I have pics I can post if you want to see...ha ha! I was going to use them for my Christmas cards that year. I did the re-hab and everything, but my knee has never been close to normal and I still have issues with it.

Eastern Conference - Caps v Rangers (would love to see Sens but Rags are too physical to get past). Sens do have home ice
Western Conference - Preds v Oilers (have to throw an upset in)

I thought that chant was so stupid considering the majority of the team is not American. I hate the Rangers. I think Lundquist is ridiculously overrated.

I guess this means we all get to big up our chests for a Rangers win. But we won't be reciprocating. We're not chanting USA if my team wins. Sorry rest of America. You'll get no invitations to enjoy my team winning. I'm leaving you to stew in your defeat while watching us celebrate if we win. The band wagon is officially full. Sorry. And no, you'll never catch me cheering for our arch rivals because they happen to be in our college football conference either. Totally lame. Auburn fans rooting for Alabama. Duke fans rooting for North Carolina. It is totally unbecoming.

I know plenty of non-American Rangers fans and literally zero of them were offended at this show of patriotism--neither were the players I know who aren't American. For many of them, their ultimate life goal was to be a NYR--and they are proud that their fans are so proud to be Americans and fans of New York.

I was going to say I'm sure bandwagon fans paid the 200+ for tickets . Season ticket holders pretty much bought all of them before they ever made it to sell for someone who was a bandwagon.

LOL! I don't think this is what the PP was saying (although it could be, they weren't clear at all), but for real, a venue like MSG doesn't lend itself to bandwagon fans! Even the worst seats are too expensive for that drivel!!!

Did you see the story on Couture's injuries? The needed dental work was known, but he had two facial fractures as well.

I do remember one of the postgame interviews with him by Jamie Baker. I think he even said something about how "Your face is really messed up now." That might even be a compliment to a hockey player.

Do you remember the old Bud Light commercials where people were fighting over what to watch on TV? There was one where the guy wants to watch hockey, the girl wants to watch a beauty pageant, and someone intervenes and the TV starts showing a combination of the two, where beauty pageant women are playing hockey and getting into fights. I thought it was kind of weird when the finished it with someone crowned the winner and she smiles but with her front teeth missing like Mike Ricci.

I hate to see anyone hurt that badly. Fiala's speed really helped the Preds against the Blackhawks. I hope for a full recovery. After suffering through my knee replacement I especially hate to see what looks like a knee injury.

Correcting my post. It was not a knee injury. The news is reporting that Fiala broke his femur. Praying for a full recovery.
