2017 DVC Member Cruise

Yes we crunched the numbers tonight as much as we'd love to do it, it's out of reach. Maybe 2018!

We are actually on the Eastern sailing this August 27... Of course the day to book this cruise is the 28th when we are at sea. Does anyone know if I can book it by going to the member desk while on the cruise? (I know the flyer and all the info says to call, but since we can't call I was just hoping )

I think the topic has come up before, and the answer has been to give your information to someone you trust. Not the answer you're hoping for, but call, and maybe I've got it wrong.

This morning poison ivy here passed along the neat avatar for this year's MC from NYC! Pretty special, don't you think?

Bobbi:)

Maybe...I'm still working my angles. My only worry is if I commit with a stranger and then can't go.
My roommate for this year's MC is a woman I met on last year's. So, Patricia and I have seen each other all of 4 days, we've e-mailed each other throughout this year, and we each have cruise insurance. She lives in Oklahoma, I am in Ohio and NJ. Neither of our husbands were interested in this year's cruise. We both tried calling in on the day, she got through before I did. I had given her all my pertinent information.
The only "problem" is the cruise has her name first, so, she is the one who had to add on the transfer from the hotel to the cruise ship. I am Platinum, no problems with booking Palo for us.
Best wishes if you decide to cruise with a new friend.

Lisa we are on the 8/27 cruise also. Someone asked on facebook and the reply was that they would allow an associate on your account to book for you. No other exceptions - unless that changed.

Exactly. I was in the same situation a couple years ago and sat on hold forever on Grand Cayman, ending up with a $100 phone bill and a spot on the wait list. I can't believe they won't help members while they are on board.

New member here and I just want to make sure I have this right - you cannot use an onboard booking discount to book a member cruise? Also, what kinds of special events or activities take place on a member cruise? Trying to decide if it would still be worth it to us if we can't use our outstanding OBB. Thank you!

Too rich for our blood. Sadly I'm pretty sure that DCL had ensured we'll never step foot on another Disney boat of any size, shape or form for the rest of our lives.

The shocking thing for me is the points vs cash rates for a DCL cruise.

Disney only gives us about $7.50 per point credit for the DCL and that is pretty low, considering they will re-rent the same points for $15pp to someone else.

Even renting your points for $11pp and paying that to DCL cash rates will save at least $2.50 or more per point.

Yes, this is a surprise. Considering what our Maintenance Fees are, you are paying quite a bit if you use points.

Yes, it puts those charges in a separate section of the statement - Qualified Promotional Financing. There,it will show the amount, date charged & date by which it has to be paid to avoid incurring finance charges.

The more shocking thing, now that I think some more about it, is that the one week cruise paying cash is more than half of what we paid for our 175 DVC points at SSR that can be used for more than a week vacation in a roomy one bedroom at DVC resorts for 50 years.
