2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

OK... this has probably been asked, oh about 100 million bazillion times... so please forgive me for not spending hours looking too far back, but do "I did it" shirts for the half sell out really quickly? Or would they still be available on the 3rd day expo? I'm thinking I read that they are are sometimes available in the merch tent after the race?

On a side note... I called disney dining today, looking to change a reservation time (I have BOG at 7:30pm on Monday and Wishes starts at 8pm...) and the CM I spoke with has NEVER been to the MK... What?!

The CMs that answer phones aren't onsite. They might not be in Orlando. They might not be in FL. Therefore they might never have been anywhere near the parks.

And they don't always (often) know how things are done in the parks or in the resorts.

Well, I've seen the "i did it" shirts no matter when I went to the expo. But that's no guarantee of anything. The nice thing at Star Wars is that they had changed the typeset and spacing of the words so it no longer looks as much like "Idiot" when you glance at them.

It seems so odd to work for Disney and have never been to the BIG castle. I hope she gets there someday...

And I didn't think any official merchandise would interest me, but the course map on a shirt has piqued my interested.

Shirts - it's kinda a crap shoot.

I've seen them readily available on day 3 and some of the 'popular' sizes gone .. Female Medium and Male Large seem to go first.

Popping out of nowhere to say hello!

This is my first half marathon and my first runDisney event... I am pretty much terrified. I'm painfully, PAINFULLY slow and while I've been able to do 10 miles at a qualifying pace, I'm really worried I'm going to be swept or will finish so poorly that the whole experience will be embarrassing rather than exciting. Anyone else a slow runner? Is it still fun or should I brace myself?

I'm doing this by myself, so I sort of hope I get in the groove with people around me and track with them the whole time. Running alone can be cathartic, but sometimes it's so lonely!
Welcome!! If you are able to do 10 miles within pace, then I think you will be fine! Adrenaline on race day will help lots too and like others said the energy is electric! :yay::tiptoe::love: I am also a slow runner and did the half marathon in 2015 and again this year. Don't ever feel like your time will disappoint you.....just by getting out there and starting you are doing something that most people have never done!

I just searched back through the 2016 thread trying to find any sort of tricks people used to find the bibs early (MarathonFoto was how people found them early and runDisney doesn't use them anymore) and my brain is FRIED. :faint: I give up, runDisney. You win!

You need need to get our resident hacker on the case. Calling @Keels to the white courtesy phone.

So, I noticed that Marathon weekend corrals were released on Friday, December 16th and Star Wars Light Side were released Friday, Dec. 23rd.....both three weeks away from the race weekend. If that keeps following, it means we should see Corrals for Princess this Friday (Feb.3rd). It would also make sense if the rumours about RunDisney not meaning to release the event guide last Friday are true (maybe it was sent out one week too early). I'm really hoping this is right and we see them, I'm getting really excited/nervous/excited!!

I was looking at those hand held water bottles at the running store. None of them fit my iphone 6 plus which is heavy all by itself. I can't imagine having the weight of that and a water bottle strapped to my hand would be comfy??? That means I still need to use a belt for my phone since I use it for music. I only have one pair of running pants with a pocket that my phone fits in. I just ordered the Fitletic Hydration belt from Amazon. It comes with bottles to hold 16oz of water. I'll just pick up some of those small bottled waters for training at home then chuck it in a trash can somewhere along my route. I can use the water stations during the races.

I am slow too so I will be right out there with you! This is also my first runDisney event AND I'm doing the whole trip by myself so I understand the fear! I'm just planning to go out there and have fun. I'm sure you'll make it just fine- the adrenaline and excitement will help you finish for sure!!

Thank you all so much for the support. :-) If you all see a really, really blonde woman plodding along and sobbing tears of overwhelmed emotion in the half, it's me. Say hi! This is something I never ever EVER thought I would do. I can't believe it's almost here.

Oh, and for you veteran rD'ers on here - do you listen to your own music or listen to the sounds of the race? I train with my own music, but I wonder if it's better to go without?
