Here's my feeling about this. I don't know specifically what is being referred to here, but I have been in similar online discussions about lack of training. I'm never going to tell someone not to even bother to go if you haven't trained. HOWEVER, what I am going to say is go into it with your eyes wide open, listen to your body, and don't do anything you'll regret later. Pixie dust will unfortunately not keep you from getting hurt. I have actually been on the other side of this where I have been attacked for being realistic. I want to encourage people, but I also want to tell them the truth from my own personal experience.
Oh, totally agree - I think being realistic with how much training you've done and how prepared you are is incredibly important. I may have gotten the wrong impression from the previous poster, and certainly didn't mean to stir the pot too much

In other news - holy crap early registration for DVC/AP is in TWO DAYS??? This is freaking me out a little bit!
I did do my "long" run today - 4 miles - and I actually didn't do intervals. I ran a mile, walked 1 minute, then ran until the next mile. Hard, but a good challenge
