2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

So I've decided to use my GSC deferral and register for the 5k and 10k instead of the 10k and half and volunteer to work the half since I'll be there that weekend anyway. I've also decided to bypass our yearly cruise for a chance at getting coast to coast for 2018 for Princess and Tink. Thank everyone for their feedback, advice and encouragement.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can't use your deferral for a different distance. I deferred this year's 10K, and the email I got was pretty clear about that.

I called today and the lady said that I could, it's a little bit of a process but she was certain. I hope she was not mistaken . But basically I would have to register for the GSC when deferral registration opens then do a transfer to the race I want during regular registration, pay the $45.00 fee and if there is a price difference after all of that receive a refund.

Where can I find this?? I want to be all set when the day comes lol

Log into your Disney Passholder Account and go either the discounts/benefits pages (i can't remember which) and there's a link that takes you directly to the page. You should be signed in when clicking the page.

Ive had my Annual Pass for almost two months and have never ONCE been able to access the passholder page

Try an incognito browser -- Chrome doesn't load unless I do that on the page. :(
OMG youre the best! lol I was actually just on the phone with Disney about my trip coming up and mentioned this and they had no clue and the woman I spoke with is having someone call me about it when she comes in but I guess we solved the problem! lol Thanks so much!

Stupid question about Disney and the Annual Passholder links for races. I just moved to California a few months ago and now have an AP for Disneyland, all activated and registered and all that. Does that mean I will be able to register early for any Run Disney event, whether it is at Disney World or Disneyland, or only for the races at Disneyland? I ask because I am logged into my passholder account and don't see anything for the princess weekend.

You will be able to log in and register for either coast on the day. There's a special page that talks about RunDisney benefits somewhere - I have the Premier and typically go to the Disney World page so I cannot recall where it is on Disneyland's site. But as long as you're actively using your AP, you can register.

(Not a dumb question at all!)

So I'm thinking about doing this race as I can't justify dropping nearly $600 on Dopey. It depends on if overall it would be cheaper to stay at an All Star resort in Jan for Dopey compared to staying at All Star in Feb for GSC.

If I go for GSC, I'm dressing as Kuzco. ONLY THE BEST DISNEY PRINCESS EVER. BOOM BABY.

Interesting. That email they sent said the opposite. It really makes no difference for my purposes. I only deferred the 10K and I am definitely not doing the GSC.

Hi guys! I have a quick question - we have several other, uh, somewhat large vacations planned for next year (Greece/Italy and then a beach trip in September o_O), but we are doing this race no matter what! It has been a bucket list item for 6 years, and after the enormous weight loss, it's really important to me. That being said, on kind of a budget, also stretched for available vacation days for my husband.

SO, the expo - does it matter if we just come on Saturday? Do we have to be there on Thursday and Friday? If I wanted to snag a tshirt or something, would there still be any merchandise available on Saturday morning? Or does it all pretty much sell out that first day?

I've never done any runDisney races before, so just trying to be sure we use his vacation days wisely! Thanks y'all :o

I hope they learn from this year about merchandise but who knows if they will. This year there was a literal fistfight early on the first day of the expo. Some items were never seen after the first couple hours. Well, until they went up on eBay.

I managed to snag (bc of my eagle eye cousin) a shirt id wanted but seemed to be gone early. Must have been a return or something. And now I realize that the transfer was done poorly or the fabric is too thin because it feels clammy and gross on my belly when I wear the shirt.

So sometimes you get what you want and it's not great. :)

Arrive when it works for you. Merchandise might or might not be there. Maybe arrange with someone (there were people doing this on FB this year) to buy something that first day for you. (I didn't do this bc it didn't feel right to me)

Also, sizes are funky and are different dependent on the actual item. So be prepared to try on.

Hello all, I did my first Run Disney race last February which was the Princess 5k. I'm planning to do the GSC in 2017. On our trip a few weeks ago, we became annual passholders so that I can register early!

I followed this thread last year to gather information for the 5k, so I'm excited to join you this year for the 10k and the Half.

I'm hoping for Belle or Merida myself.

Exactly. I didn't have a bad experience, but I know plenty of people who did.

I would say that if you're not too picky about what you want, and you aren't a popular size, you'll probably be okay. Otherwise, you're out of luck.

Well, drat. I'm usually a small/medium, and I wanted to grab a tshirt and maybe a water bottle. I'm sure those will be gone by Saturday :sad2: oh well. All I can do is pray for a little luck, haha. We can't be there any earlier than Saturday due to DH's work schedule. Thanks for the info, friends!

if you're not picky it'll be better. Honestly I wish I hadn't looked at the posts from RunDisney showing the merchandise. I might have been happier that way.

But I really hope they learn. I mean, I was there in the first few hours and I never saw certain things. My uncomfy "run princess" shirt wasn't found until day 2 (though on the first day one that was too big for me was snatched by a lady behind me while I waited for the lady in front of me to move...so expect that nonsense). The staff had NO idea about merchandise (when I described my shirt they kept showing me a Half shirt with similar writing but otherwise didn't resemble what I was describing) or it's availability (they would say that something was ALL gone and then a coworker would bring out another box of it from the back so guests never knew what was true), they let people take caseS of things in the first hour.

I hope they learn.

But I don't plan on looking at the merchandise posts. I don't want to be that focused or any sort of depressed if I don't get something.

i am making a conscious effort to buy less *stuff* and this year's Tink expo was the first runDisney expo where I wasn't going crazy for merchandise - and it was SO nice to not have to plan out what I wanted to get ahead of time, arrive crazy early, fight the masses, etc. It was...relaxing? I am a changed woman after that weekend!! :worship:

Hey guys! I lost this thread after I accidentally unsubscribed to all my watched threads :crazy2:

But since I last checked, we've booked January trip to Disney (which happens to be Marathon weekend - but no running for us, I booked my first half marathon (Athens, GA Half in October), and we secured our DVC studio for Princess weekend! At the Poly!! That may change, but I'm really hoping we can stay at the poly. I would love to have extra points...but also we haven't stayed there yet and it's our home resort :P

Now I'm a little nervous about registration, but I'm doing all I can to make sure I'm ready. Active account done, AP link bookmarked, etc.

I did have yet another question - I usually run between a 10 and 11 minute per mile pace, but I assume this race will be slower due to pictures, crowds, etc.

We were thinking of doing a celebratory breakfast/lunch after the race, but I don't really know what time to make the reservation. I would want time to at least take a shower before we go eat, and I don't really have any good idea about how long I'll take to finish. Anyone have recommendations? We do have to get going after that meal since we've got a 5 1/2-6 hour drive home before starting back to work on Monday, but I love the idea of something with characters to show off my medal :P

I'm getting so excited!!!
