Wasn't it at one time based on park tickets? We have the 10 day park hopper and I remember have the dining plan that went with the tickets.

I don't think so. Many people book their resort with dining for two weeks, but you can only buy tickets for up to ten days. If your dining plan was based on the number of park tickets you buy, you'd stay for two weeks and only get 10 days of dining, which wouldn't make sense.

The first time we utilized the offer was in 2006 and I'm pretty sure even then it was per night not per day or per park ticket.

Whether it's in conjunction of the promotion or just an ala cart purchase it will always match the number of nights in your stay. It's cheaper for them that way.

For my family yes. I go through booking a vacation to price it out at a preferred room at ASM (4 adults) add park hopper and $19.57 per adult per night (to upgrade FD to DDP from QS)...it comes to $3,983(and some change)
For CBR regular room 4 adults and park hopper....it comes to $3,952(and some change)

This makes sense, however keep in mind that a standard room at CBR might be tough to get with FD. Normally it is offered on the Preferred room, which have a significantly higher cost. So you might want to compare prices with that cost in mind.

So say I wanna stay

Oh yes I have done the math across the board with 3 different resorts, and if it is only preferred at the MODS available then we will do a value resort. I do Disney math at least 2 times a week....

I was always wondering what bounce back was. Good to know!

What is the free dining all about? (I mean....it's Disney, so I know it can't be free.....right? :) )
Basically, you pay rack rate for the room and you purchase a minimum two day park ticket with hopper or Waterpark per person. If you stay at a value resort you get the quick service dining plan for free. If you stay at a moderate you get the regular dining plan for free.

Thanks! Sounds like a great deal!!

It is a great deal for a lot of people! It is for my husband and I because we stay value so a room discount is hardly nothing compared to food prices. And you get your resort refillable mugs for drinks at the resort free!

Standard at CBR can be done. We got FD for a week in September and two different years in December, 9 days and 11 days. The only problem we had was that as an afterthought we decided to add a day onto the 11 day trip and none were available. We fixed that by going to PORFQ for our first night. We didn't get FD for that night but, it was just one night and we spent that day in Downtown Disney and went to see Yehaw Bob that night. In the morning we taxied on over to CBR for $10 and that was including tip. :)

We had free dining in a standard room at CBR last year also, we stayed from Oct.30 to Nov.06. We also had a problem adding on another day and stayed our last night at POR!

So kids are no longer required to order kids meals at QS locations? This could be quite profitable.

The dining brochure still states "kids must order from the kid's menu where available," BUT they are not enforcing it at most QS places. They could put it back into practice at any time.
