Just made myself some Mickey hot chocolate we got from Goofy's last fall in a Goofy mug. It's making me deliriously excited for Disney again  I had a question that I was wondering if anyone would know. I've heard that you can get a room only reservation and the dining plan added to it now. I know you wouldn't be able to add free dining to it but what if I could get a really fantastic room only rate from somewhere and then wanted to add the dining plan on at regular price, would that be do-able? I'm thinking about just checking with my travel agent to see what the difference in prices would be. And before anyone asks why we would pay full price for the dining plan. We like to use it, it makes the trip less stressful for us with our Canadian dollar being so low to pay everything up front.

Is everyone thinking they will have the same park hopper requirement like last year in order to get FD?
im sure that it will be a requirement since that was the requirement for last fall's free dining bounce back offer.

You can add the dining plan to a room only reservation if you have booked the room through Disney or DVC and have existing tickets. If you have a reservation that you booked through a travel agent or a place like Orbittz you can't call yourself to ask Disney to add a dining plan to it. Only the travel agency can add the dining plan since they control the reservation until you check into the resort.

I'm interested in this also. Be perfect for me to get room only discount and pay for dining plan and be able to use tickets I already purchased.

When I got to book room only its says u have to have a package to book Disney dining plan??

I heard that only deluxe resorts will get the regular dining and the others will get qs. I hope it's not true, but with Disney trying to nickel and dime people lately, I believe it.

HLHS? Sounds like it. My sweet son had HLHS, but sadly he didn't live past the first surgery. :( I know what we all went through for those short three weeks that he lived-I can't imagine everything you and your family have gone through! Much love-I hope you guys are able to go and have just an awesome vacation!

I will say this-like others have said-don't panic right now bc of rumored dates-they absolutely can change last minute. Just keep your eyes peeled for black562 or dirty Steve to come along w/a pretty solid offer-you'll know when just by the way it's posted. (Ah, for some good reading, dig up past FD threads-they are a hoot! But really long. :D )

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you luck. You've got this, mama! :D

I am so sorry to hear about your son. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you.

You are correct. She has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, and has been through the Norwood, Glenn, and a modified Fontan surgery. She had many complications during the Fontan. Then, because we lived in a high altitude area, she struggled with oxygen saturations. We had to move when she was 5 to get near sea level. We are so blessed that she is doing well, and I want her to have this trip when she is doing well.

Thank you for the calming words. So many people on this board have already helped me so much with great information. It means so much to have a place to go with all of these questions/worries.

If you are required to get park hopper or if only quick service for a mod. Might not be huge difference to take room discount and either buy food plan or just use difference for meals and scale down a few sit down meals. When we did free dining in 2014 it was a lot of food. Too much for kids to eat. Easily could have kids split a quick service meal. Maybe will just do that. Just hope there is a room discount for october

So...I wonder if tomorrow's the day? Anyone "in the know" heard of any solid leads?

Nobody really knows. I doubt Disney tells any of its employees. It would leak so fast.
That's why I don't put much into these " rumored dates". Lady in phone told me just pay attention in next few weeks. But didn't really budge when I mentioned if I should change my October 22 week. We shall see

Just an FYI, Disney is doing a three-day media event starting tomorrow.

April 18th: Disney will discuss plans for the "Town Center" neighborhood of Disney Springs. They will also tour the Star Wars Launch Bay at Disney's Hollywood Studios and offer a sneak peak at the new "Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular" fireworks show that begins next month.

April 19th: Disney will discuss new entertainment and attractions, potentially covering things like Frozen Ever After, Soarin' Around the World, Rivers of Light, etc...

April 20th: Disney will talk about the new Avatar, Toy Story and Star Wars lands.

Thank you black562! I'm assuming that means we can get some sleep tonight

I'd be fine with that myself as we're wanting to stay in a value and just pay the upgrade price anyway. I'm sure those planning on a moderate wouldn't be happy if that's the case though.

Really hoping for those October dates! And dreading another week of waiting on FD!
