2016 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: September 14 - November 14, 2016

OK, only my second time going to W&F....what is the benefit to purchasing the "sampler"..is it just for drinks?

I guess it would be the convenience of using the tickets, plus you get a pin? I don't plan on it, it seems too easy to accidentally use it for a cheaper item. I think the sampler is a bad idea the way it currently is. It would be more widely used if it was actually a good deal for guests. Other food festivals use tickets like that, and it's a savings for the customer, and makes sense for the vendors because they don't have to make change. But F&W hasn't caught on. if they want people to use the sampler, it has to be a way to save money.

Can anyone tell me the size of the wine and beer pours? Or point me in the direction of that info, I cant seem to find that

If they did that though alcohol would not be included, I like it the way it is.

Found this:
2015 brought changes to the size of beer portions. Individual beer servings topped out at 6 ounces, while flights featured four 4-ounce pours. In 2015, beer was $3 – $5 for 6oz. options, and around $9.25 for most flights. Most wines were $2.50 – $4.75 and mixed drinks averaged $7 – $9. But there may be a BIG change in 2016. Stay tuned for all of the details!

I would guess that if beers are 4oz pours wines are probably 4oz as well. Just a guess.

I was looking at some pictures from when we went to the 2014 F&WF. I believe that it was called or titled "Taste Your Way Around the World." Is there a title for this year's F&WF? Just curious ........

It's the same - "Taste Your Way Around the World"

In the past, the "theme" was different each year. They have been using "Taste Your . . . ." for the last three to four years. I guess it's cheaper as they can reuse the signage each year.

So there's not really a ton of savings, especially if you don't buy many mixed drinks, which can be tasty, but have little alcohol content.
If you collect pins, the pin was pretty nice last year, so that's around a $10 value. But for some that might be a $0 value because they don't care.

And then there's the "fun" factor. Some people might think it's fun to have the prepaid pack and the lanyard. Others don't care :-)
Here's mine, decorating my office wall!:

Disney doesn't want you to save money. They want you to pay them for the convenience of just handing over a chit instead of scanning a band or gift card, and maybe a pin if you are wanting the pin.

Not counting the possible value of the pin and lanyard, the only way you make money on the sampler is to purchase items that cost more than $7.25 or $7.50 with it (most of which are mixed drinks). Any other reason for buying the package has to do with the guest wanting to have it for whatever reason, not with saving money. If you're buying one with the thought that it will save you money, you have to be careful with how you use it (kind of like the dining plan).

The 16-voucher version does drive down the per item cost that you need to spend to make money on the deal (you do have to spend all 16 vouchers though)

Last year, the sampler vouchers were good only at the kiosks; you couldn't use them at year-round locations like Refreshment Port, Block & Hans or the African Outpost even if that location was offering festival-specific items. The named exclusions were beverage flights, and champagne (regardless of cost).

Most people who are at Disney are fairly money blind. They just pay what they're asked to pay and don't ask questions. There's not enough of us that are budget conscious that do the math for them to get rid of the coupon system for losing money. The fact that it covers the beer flights at Craft Beer sells it for me.

Someone posted on another site that they received a voucher for a free alcoholic drink at the Chase Lounge. Can someone confirm/deny that they are doing this? I have not seen it posted on Disboards anywhere.

Some of the F&W merchandise is up on the shop parks app
I'm pretty sure it does not cover the beer flights...would be perfect if it did.

Seems to be worthwhile only for the mixed drinks as far as I can see.

It did not cover flights last year, that could have changed for this year but I'd need to see the actual exclusions. The flights have apparently been reduced in quantity and cost anyway.

This would happen once in awhile last year, they would have those available pretty randomly. Not every day and not all the time.

There are flights at Craft Beer and they do take the coupons for each 1 so there is about $2 savings vs paying cash
