2016 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: September 14 - November 14, 2016

Does anyone know how many items the F&W tray will hold?
Do you mean the little ones pictured below (photo from WDW News Today)? I think they really only hold one typical item plus a glass at a time... perhaps unless you take the items out of the little cardboard container they're served in...? We always leave them in those cardboard containers so that the plate/tray itself doesn't get dirty.

Yes, those. Thanks for the info.

Well, I went back six pages and didn't see any comments about this, so hope someone knows....how are the $45 events (that replaced the 3rd daily food deminar) going? DH and I are disappointed that the deminar offerings have been cut by 1/3, and we're hoping this alternative will flop and they'll go back to deminars.

... But for the food and Wine booths I think I'm most looking forward to the Mojo Pork with Black Beans, Cilantro Rice, and Pickled Red Onions or the Grilled Sweet and Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp - has anyone tried these yet?

I tried it this morning. Overall I liked it, but my rice was kind of crunchy, so I'm thinking a little old.

Just spent this moring at F&W. I had been a little concerned about going on a weekend. I got to WS right at 11 a.m. No lines! By 12:30 I was stuffed and hot and it was beginning to get a bit too crowded for my comfort level so I went back to my resort for a costume change.

How is the seating this year at F&W? Are we going to be eating on trashcans? I sure hope not. Does anyone know of countries that offer seating also?

How much are those plates?

To the best of my knowledge there's no more seating added for F&W. There are tallboy tables strewn about. Seemed today like about the same number of tables as in the past. I often balance a cup on a fence. If you do use a trash can, please don't block the trash can opening. Had one woman doing this so had to "excuse me" to throw something away.

I wasn't there in 2015 but it seemed like there were a few more tables than 2014. Some of the booths do have dedicated seating, like Islands and Chew Collective off the top of my head. I really liked the Chew area seen here.

The Chocolate Studio and Wine and Dine shared an area with a bunch of dedicated tables, as well. There were several of these covered areas.

Heading to airport from our week long trip. Made 3 food and wine visits so go our tumblers. If you need to get out of the heat the area behind club cool and Character Spot now has tables and chairs. A wonderful much needed addition. We escaped the heat there a few times after grabbing Starbucks.

I am also curious as I want to do one..

For anyone that did the Chew taping last year, how long did it take? Just trying to get some sort of game plan on place, that is if we get picked for tickets.

It took longer than they told us it would by like an hour to 90 minutes last year.

My report on it:

Hot and Chewy

I woke up at some ungodly hour and got ready to head to EPCOT for the taping of the Chew. They had a lot of guidelines in the emails they had sent about the clothes that would be ok to wear and I followed them; unlike some of the others that showed up.

As I wasn’t sure if the bus would be there with enough time to get there timely, I took a taxi over to EPCOT and got to explain to the driver how to actually get to EPCOT. Not sure if you should be a taxi driver at Disney if you don’t know how to get to a major theme park. My crazy earliness paid off and I was among the first in line. I killed my time playing on my phone and people watching as the various other taping guests arrived.

When checking in, my paperwork stated I had a ticket for myself plus 1 and they just gave me two one day EPCOT tickets despite being by myself and an armband to show I was with the show. Not sure if these one day tickets expire but we’ll find out next year when we use them sometime.

The next 1.5 hours pretty much involved a lot of standing around and waiting and being shuffled from the front of the park to the World Showcase stage and waiting in a huge line out there.

It was almost 9AM when the taping was supposed to start when we were actually let into the seating area for the audience and got to wait around some more. We were given information by the production director and entertained by a B-rate Comedian until the taping actually started. The audience seating was in the direct sunlight as well. This got really hot. Eventually the taping started which they would do a segment and then break to get to the next one. It wasn’t really the most exciting time but it totally was something different to enjoy in the midst of my Disney trip. We got to see Mario cook italian, Carla cook Salmon w/ Hidden Valley Ranch and Michael Symon cook food from The Land. We were given a Hidden Valley Gift Bag which actually was rather helpful for carrying our stuff for the rest of the day once I met up with my husband. We didn’t get to taste anything as an audience at this showing. It also ran over the time it was supposed to and didn’t get done until almost 11AM but luckily my husband had bus delays so it didn’t matter much to us.

I have more details about the aftermath of it in my full trip report - but it was really hot and in the direct sun. Because of all the delays - I ended up heavily dehydrated and overheated. It took a while to cool off for me afterwards even with a large amount of liquids to rehydrate - basically until my husband and I got to the movies and I had an extremely large Icee while we watched Everest.

We booked one of the Mix it, Make it and Celebrate it Hands on workshops. Has anyone done any of those so far? We are going on Wednesday evening.

We did the Mix it, Make it, Celebrate it workshop with Chef Morimoto yesterday (Sushi 101). It was fun! We were given a glass of champagne when seated, It lasted about an hour and 15 minutes, he did a demo of knife skills cutting up a fish, created a beautiful sushi/sashimi platter and taught us a lot about what fish, and what parts of the fish to use etc. Then showed us how to make our own spicy tuna roll. They had the seats set up ahead of time with some of the ingredients, and brought the fresh ingredients around as it was time to start rolling. We made our sushi and ate it, and they also brought out a plate of chef made sushi to compare to our own. So two complete spicy tuna rolls (6 -8 pieces each) I was stuffed!

So are you happy you did it? I'm local but my BFF is only there for one day. I'm wondering if we should even bother. This may be a completely moot point since we don't even know if we have tickets. What time were you supposed to be there? It looked really dark outside.

Honestly, not really? It was something different to do which for me was what intrigued me at first since we go to Disney so often and this was a long trip.

I think I got there around 6:30AM - if you showed up at the 7:30AM it stated you would have been in seats in even more direct sunlight. It was earlier than the buses ran so your options were drive or taxi. I taxi'd since our plans involved going to Disney Springs after our Japanese Beer Afternoon Event so driving wouldn't have been smart.

There was a lot of standing around - as we were required to be there at 7:30AM - we weren't even allowed to sit in the theatre until after 9AM since they weren't ready for us.
