2016 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: September 14 - November 14, 2016

Just back from my first F&W experience. It was so hot that I honestly couldn't summon up the appetite to try as much as I would have liked, but I did manage to try the following over a couple of visits:

The Chew Collective

- Grilled Beef Skewer w/ Romaine, Apricots and Feta Cheese: This might have been my overall favorite. The beef was cooked to perfection!
- Peanut Butter and White Chocolate Mousse w/ a Caramel Drizzle: This was yummy. Also tiny! Not sure I got the caramel drizzle but I enjoyed it all the same.

South Korea

- Korean-style BBQ Beef w/ Steamed Rice and Cucumber Kimchi: I love Korean BBQ in general, and this was super yummy! I almost went back for another one. The cucumber kimchi was good and not overly spicy.

Morocco

- Spicy Hummus Fries w/ Cucumber, Tomato, Onions and Tzatziki Sauce: Good enough, but I think these have been overhyped a bit on the blogs. A unique offering though!

Belgium

- Belgian Waffle w/ Warm Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream: This was a bit of a let down. The waffle was good but nothing special. The chocolate was fine but it wasn't warm and it wasn't very ganache-y. The whipped cream was fine but they ratio of whipped cream to chocolate was off. (Too much whipped cream, not enough chocolate!)

- Leffe Blonde Belgian Pale Ale: Loved this beer! Super small pour though. Wanted another but held off because $$ for so little beer. :P

Ireland

- Twinning Pumpkin Chai Tea Frozen Cocktail w/ Caramel Vodka: I really loved this! The vodka kinda floats to the top so I got a couple sips that were VERY strong, but overall this was delightful and it really hit the spot on such a hot day!

I caught a little bit of the Bodeans' Eat to the Beat concert. Fun to see them... "Good Things" and "Closer to Free" took me back, man... ;)

I also attended the first Behind the Scenes at Trader Sam's event and it was AWESOME! Great menu and the cocktails were plentiful!

Overall had a great F&W experience.

Our favorite was the South Korea BBQ beef! My DS10 and DD6 also loved it! ALso liked the lettuce wrap. Beef bourguignon from France is next. Favorite dessert is the cronut (not special to F&W but so awesome). Favorite drinks were jalapeno margarita and the slushy from France in martini glass. It was crazy hot so we ate less than we thought and didn't get as many desserts. Least favorite was Canada - the soup was ok and the pretzel roll wasn't very good - the steak was overdone. Really liked the loaded mac and cheese as well.

Artist Palette of Wine and Cheese - can someone confirm it's really only 1 snack credit and includes alcohol? It seems weird to me!

We are attending the Party for the Senses event on Saturday. I understand we get some sort of priority seating for the eat to the beat concert as well. Does anyone know where you pick up your passes for the concert? Thanks!

I don't know about the credits as I don't do the dining plan but there are two offerings for the Cheese plates. There is one that comes without the wine, it's different cheeses and little things like currents or nuts. The other is the same cheese plate with 3 wine tastings. It looks like from the picture of the menu board on disney food blogs site that both are included. http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/wine-and-dine-studio-2016-epcot-food-and-wine-festival/

is Dole Whip served in Epcot? I know to find it at MK and the Polynesian Resort, but we won't have time to head over there and my friend is dying to try one. I always talk about them on my trips to Hawaii.

Budgeting $500 for F&W (Yeah we're big foodies) is it better to have cash or get a gift card? What do you all do? I really don't want 80+ individual purchases showing up on my debit card like we've had in the past.

I buy the little gift card that goes around your wrist, it just makes it easier to hold up my wrist to pay then to dig out money and make change. I usually start out putting around $100 or $200 on the gift card then adding to it if needed. The rest of the cash stays in the room in the safe, that way I'm not carrying around a lot of cash.

I just watch my amounts and use my magic band then pay it off with giftcards.

We used the wrist giftcard and then the sampler vouchers for high priced alcohol (that we bought with the GC). I liked that each receipt gave you the remaining balance.

We were there the same time, missed hearing the Bodeans. It was hotter than heck, won't go in September again. Loved the frozen chai tea cocktail, pork belly in Brazil & the piggy wings. DS liked the bacon mac & cheese, pot stickers and the carrot cake (he had that twice, we didn't even get a bite the first time) Missed a few drinks I wanted to try but we always managed to hit them when I had an empty stomach. Really had nothing bad.

I would try to avoid using cash. What a pain! Slows the transaction down while the CM makes change, and then you're carrying it around, digging through your pockets, etc. I charge to my magic band and pay the balance down at my resort every few days before it gets to the limit where they would charge my credit card. But if you can't or don't want to do that, using a gift card at the booths is also fast and easy.
