2015 Military Salute Announcement

I was able to change my Feb ressie to Military and upgraded from Value to Moderate, saving money!!:cool1:

Made 2 additional reservations later for 2015 at the resorts I desired without any difficulties. I had an awesome CM so that helped:thumbsup2

I,too, am so appreciative of Disney and its military policies:cheer2:

Has anyone had any problems getting the dates and resorts they want? Im booked at POFQ and my brother is suppose to call today to get his room so he can join us....November 11-15 dates...

Ah indeed, I forgot that. Last year we tried that and it didn't work out so well, however. In short, my stepdad (who went with us and will again, is retired military) didn't ask for the right tickets at SOG and ended up not getting the MS ones (and we paid more). Plus it took him hours because...that's what happens. :) Not sure if we have any other options (though I may go with him this time to ensure speediness!).

Oh I understand that! The first year we got the salute tickets at SOG my husband was doing the talking while I was off to the side with the kids. He didn't specifically ask for the salute tickets so we almost got the other ones. Luckily I heard the total before he swiped the credit card and said no, that can't be right lol.

One year we bought the salute tickets at a regular ticket window at Epcot and had to pay FL sales tax. I think it's around 6-7%? We didn't even think about the tax until later, but haven't done that again since.

That's exactly what happened to us, except I wasn't there to tell him he was getting the wrong ones! (My parents kindly covered the difference because they didn't want to go back to SOG from FWR to change them.)

Given that my stepdad is retired, nmso not currently on a base, I'm a bit worried about getting them early enough to book FP+ Options (the downside of FP+!). I read that Camp Pendleton can do MS tickets by mail with a 2-week lead time. Anyone tried this?

Very frustrated with the availability of rooms in November for the military discount and for the Fall RO discount. . . Thankfully I saved with "worst case scenario (i.e. no discount) in mind but was really hoping for it.

Disney announced the 2015 military salute program renewal a few minutes ago. All room discounts remain the same and the 4 day salute park hopper is $177. Way to go Disney!!

i've had a reservation for months now for October for two rooms at the Beach Club and have been calling every other week about when the military discounts were coming out, I also ensured I didn't book during blackout dates. I called on July 18 and rates weren't out yet, I noticed on July 23 that the new mil discout was out and immediately called. They told me that they no longer had the military discount rate availabe or the passholder discount I'm active duty Army and also an annual passholder, tried several different folks to try to assist me to no avail......guess capacity trumps military discounts, very dissappointed......

Has anyone had any luck booking for next Spring at POR using the military discount?

I tried to book this AM and was told that it wasn't available, but then the CM ran various other sets of dates all the way through May and same thing-no availability. He said likely POR hasn't released their allotted military discounted rooms yet? Has anyone booked a room with the military rate in April or May of 2015 yet?

Just to clarify, they don't just give the military rate. There have to be rooms available at the military rate. Sometimes that may mean a resort change, or a date adjustment. (And I totally understand that a date adjustment may not be possible.)
I noted you are going in Oct. Oct 2014 is extremely busy this year. It is the busiest Oct I can remember in recent years. Depending on the week, it may be very hard to find a military rate, or any discount rate. Some of the Epcot resorts have had limited availability for months for Oct. Have you been checking the Late Fall Offer online? Be sure to check different categories, too. It's well worth trying. Some folks will have part of their vacation at one rate, and then grab some days at the 30% or better discount. (Deluxes) You can ask the CM to link both reservations. You also might check Yacht Club and Boardwalk as well as Beach Club.
I hope you have some luck as you watch for a discount.

Thanks!

Can anyone clarify the difference in the prices of the salute tickets?

$177 4-day park hopper
$177 4-day water parks and more
$207 4-day hoppers, water parks and more

What is the difference between the first two options which are the same price?

Is the $207 option the one that includes mini golf, ESPN, etc? I just want to make sure we get the one that includes water park admission. We are not interested in the mini golf, etc.

Park hopper allows you to goto more then one park each day, ie MK and EC
Water park more allows you to goto water parks, Disney quest, mini golf (at specific times)
Both allows both :thumbsup2

The hopper is 4 days where the water park is 4 days of parks AND 4 days of water parks, so tech you could use it for 8 days

Not POR, but we booked CR for 4/24-5/3/15. :goodvibes

I booked on August 1st for 5/24-5/31 POR - Royal room garden view. The CM said it was all they had available. I wanted a regular room garden view.

I was able to get the military discount at POR from 9/28-10/6. I am waiting for the Armed Forces Salute tix to be released and then I will likely get them from Camp Pendleton (I think that it). Anyway. In order to add the DDP to my room do I need to have tickets first? Or can I add the DDP before linking tickets? Also what is the latest that I can add the DDP? Thanks!

I have a question ... I'm going to Disney for 8 days, my spouse [military] and I plan to use 2 of the allotted 6 military salute tickets for ourselves -- we plan on buy the 4 day park fun and more -- making it an 8-day ticket [4 days in theme park, two days at water park, one day at quest, and one mini golfing]. Our son and his wife are going with us. They don't like water parks and so plan was to buy 4 military salute w/hopper tickets and they use all 4, activating 2 for first 4 days, then activating other 2 for last 4 days for a total of eight. Can we do that or is there a rule against it?

You can do that
