So far I'm doing ok with tracking. I've been able to track the good and bad days. I cringe when I see my results on my bad days, but I know it happens and just have to try better the next day! I find that sharing publicly with people keeps me accounted for and motivated.
I love, love, LOVE reading success stories with weight loss!
I weighed myself last night and was weighing in at 200. So far I have lost 50 pounds (it's been a slow couple of years with ups and downs in weight loss after the birth of my last and youngest) and have 50 more to go.
Half way there!!! That is great!!

ErinA84!!
And well done on the 50 pounds lost!
Thanks everyone for cheering me up! I woke up feeling much better this morning and thought I had a very successful day until I realized that I totally forgot my very important doctor's appointment.

This totally threw me as it makes tomorrow complicated again... And it seems that at the moment I am really low on energy reserves...
Eating has been medium. Exercise has been good. Walked 17000 steps today.
Today's question got me thinking. I am wondering whether it might not be time to try tracking calories again instead of points... Maybe just something new would help. But then on the other hand I am feeling so overwhelmed with everything anyway that I really don't want to add anything new... I guess I will just continue with where I am and be content with myself not falling totally off the plan currently. As lousy as I feel, I know that in the past I would be eating a whole bag of gummy bears tonight.
This actually reminds me that I thought I should start a 10 day no sugar challenge. Anyone interested in joining in?
And finally: Do we have a hostess for March??
Glad you were feeling better, but sorry you missed your appointment. Hope they don't charge you for it!
I would love to join a "no sugar" challenge! Just need to know up front what counts as sugar. Fruit?? Stevia?? I don't eat much real "sugar" other than those two things, but it would be good of me to get more of a handle on my carbs.
No hostess for March yet. I will do it if I don't get a volunteer by tomorrow. Fingers crossed that the venue for this weekend's robotics competition has wi-fi!! Otherwise I'll be working off DH's mobile hotspot, which can be sketchy in big heavy buildings. I don't really mind hosting again.... it definitely keeps me thinking. But I wasn't able to commit as much time to replies and such this month as I would have liked and I feel badly about that.
Thanks! It was really a great experience and I'm so glad we were able to make it work.
Hmm ... tied between The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Finding Nemo ... and I've seen them each at least a few hundred times.
I've also seen Frozen at least a hundred times by now ... it's becoming one of my favorites.
ALL favorites of mine as well!!
Oh man ... this winter has been brutal! Between the snow and the cold, I can't wait for spring, and I'm sure you feel the same way!
YUP! Got a bit of sunshine that feels like spring today and it is just wonderful (even though temps are in the 20's).
Well, I'm back from Florida. Catching up on almost a week worth of life is going to be difficult, but I guess I just have to do it.
The race was really great and I had a lot of fun. I definitely recommend runDisney races for anyone who can do one! Even if you can't run, you can walk the 5K (and the longer races if you can maintain the minimum race), and it really is a great experience!
It is definitely on my bucket list to do a RunDisney event.... but so not in the cards for the next few years! Glad you had fun! Want to share any pictures??
When I was 17 I conquered my fear of roller coasters. I've always been afraid of heights, so I knew I would hate roller coasters. On my senior trip in high school I decided to just try a roller coaster, figuring that I'd hate it ... boy was I wrong. Some of my favorite attractions at Disney are ones that I would have been terrified to even try before then - so I'm glad I decided to just conquer my fear and do it!
Good for you! I'm afraid of heights as well and don't really like most rollercoasters, but I push myself to do them with my kids.... and then EVERY TIME as the coaster climbs the first big hill I KNOW in my HEART I made a huge mistake and we are all going to DIE!! And then, of course, we are fine and screaming with FUN and I can't wait to do it again!! SheiKra at Busch Gardens Florida is probably the biggest, scariest coaster I've ever ridden. Most Disney coasters PALE in comparison. Also rode the Dragon Challenge at Universal in the dark! I didn't really know what I was getting myself into! Isn't it a GREAT FEELING to conquer your fears and HAVE FUN??!!
One of the biggest changes I've made was stopping to drink soda ... I was never a huge soda drinker, but I always had 1-2 cups to soda a day, and since I stopped drinking soda a few years ago I've felt better, even if I'm not always losing weight!
I'm trying to eat more fruit and veggies, but it's hard. Sometimes we don't always have a lot of fruit and veggies in the house, and even when we do, I can't always find a place where I think it fits in my meals. But I know it's something I should do, so I keep trying to add more fruits/veggies into my diet!
Even if you never lose another pound, giving up all that sugar and adding more fruits and veggies is a GREAT THING to do for yourself!! And honestly.... expand your horizons and give up your preconceived notions about where produce belongs in your diet and just go for it! Salad for breakfast? SURE! Apples as a side dish with dinner?? WHY NOT? TWO green vegetables with dinner instead of a vegetable and a starch? GREAT IDEA!
We eat TONS of produce here..... and I am always looking for ways to add a bit more to our menu. Today's hot lunch (since my men will be at robotics until late tonight) was cauliflower fried rice..... it is a Pinterest sensation if you aren't familiar with it. Basically you made a mock-rice out of cauliflower. So you start with a vegetable base. Then I add chopped bok-choy, peas, carrots, onions, and finely chopped spinach (fresh is best). Stir fry everything, add some protein (scrambled egg/egg whites and meat if desired.... I go back and forth between ham, pork, and beef.... usually leftovers from a bigger meal since I use very little meat). My picky son eats TWO BIG BOWLS of this and loves it! And he probably gets 2-3 servings of veggies in each and every bowl! I usually make this with two large heads of cauliflower, 2 C of peas, 2-4 carrots, a few big handfuls of spinach, two large sweet onions, and three baby bok-choys. Sometimes I also add celery, red/green bell peppers, scallions, chopped kale, even broccoli. And we often polish off almost the entire thing between 3-4 people! I love that is a very VEGGIE-HEAVY meal, but light in calories and "junk".... just gotta watch the sodium with the soy sauce.
Spinach salad with strawberries and chopped apple with a sweet vinagarette dressing is great with eggs in the morning. How about zucchini "noodles" along with your spaghetti?
Anyhow.... there are so many ways to eat and enjoy more fruits and veggies!~ Glad you are trying so hard!!

Hey all! Men are out the door for now. I thought DH wanted me to go along so we could pick up the other car from the shop (got one back yesterday), but he seemed a bit frantic about taking a conference call while driving and getting them there on time and didn't mention it, so I stayed behind. Just as well, since it will be a very busy two days of the robotics tournament and then I'll be driving DD back and forth from school to an interview in Boston on Sunday, and of course, school starts up again on Monday. So I'm trying to be sure that I've got some more meals prepped and the laundry caught up!! Trying a new recipe that I'm going to put in the freezer for the men to enjoy while I'm in Atlanta. It is a chicken cordon bleu casserole that I am going to make with pork because of DS's allergies. Wish me luck! BBL to chat.....................P
