2015 DVC Alaska Member Cruise 5/25-5/31/15

Has anyone done this tour on the Wonder before? It's listed on the first sea day from past Navigators.

Edit to add: I'm thinking I may take the tour since my husband will be working the entire day on both sea days. If anyone feels like going, I'll likely be there. Looks kind of neat.
We love "behind the scenes" type tours. Keys to the Kingdom Tour was great at WDW. Sounds like this would be right up our alley!

I guess I'll have to be brave and ask if anyone is from the Disboards before the tour starts. I can't wait to see the looks I get from those who aren't! :rotfl2:

I still hope to get to the 2:30pm meet at the Promenade Lounge on disembarkation day, but the bus that Disney set up the CMs with to get from the hotel to the port isn't leaving the hotel until 2:30! I already told my husband that I had wanted to get on board well before that, and he agreed to walk to the port early as long as it doesn't cause any issues for his co-workers. Hopefully it'll all work out fine.

Btw, apparently Member Services will be located in Diversions. If you should happen to go in and see a tall, brown haired, clean cut fella with a blue name tag that says Jackie (from GA) that's my husband! Feel free to tell him you "know" me, as he's aware I'm on here chatting. We are DVC members as well, have been for years before he was hired to work for the Mouse, so it was a great fit for him and he loves his job. He's actually in the training department now, but he's great at everything, so I'm pretty proud of him. :-)

That's enough random off-topic rambling from me for one day!

I was reading on another thread that Tomorrowland was showing next week on some of the cruises, the day it opens.....a prem-ear thing...so SURELY it will be on ours. I would expect something maybe even special, like we had with Mary Poppins! But, we will see! We will be pretty disappointed if it isn't on there. WE are special! ;)

I have faith. I think surprises are in our future. 8-)

Every time we've cruised with Disney, whatever was premiering or showing in theaters was also showing on the ship. They premier it on the ship the same day it premieres in theaters.

Aw...how sweet! We will definitely stop by to say hello to your hubby - we're always considering adding on anyway! I have couple of friends who work for DVC in FL...one is a van driver and the other is in the document processing office. They even moved from CA to FL to be closer to WDW a few years ago. The DVC jobs are their "retirement" gig. They, of course, are also long time owners.

Neat! We moved here for Disney too, it's a thing. Lol.

We are flying from West Palm Beach through Dallas to Vancouver. Our airline says we must be at the airport for checking 3 hours early. Is that really necessary? Could we not be able to board if we don't get there that early?

Hello all. I have a quick question for you Platinum CC members. This will be DW's first cruise as a Platinum CC member, however, DD and I are still only Gold. My question is that I know that as one of the Platinum perks, a meal at Palo is included, but is that for the 2 of us in the stateroom, or just the Platinum member?

Thanks!
It's for everyone in your cabin! :) Not just the platinum member - nice perk!

Weather next 10 days - Really re-thinking how I packed. Usually once it hits 65 I am in shorts and t-shirts and by 70 sandals. I know the temp will drop while cruising though and at night. So maybe 1 raincoat, 1 hoodie, jeans, gloves, hat and the rest t-shirt and capris? I was really thinking 60 would be highest we would get!!!

Vancouver, CA
63-71 next 10 days with one of those being a rainy day

Ketchikan, AK
68-76 next 10 days

Juneau, AK Weather
65-72 next 10 days

Skagway, AK Weather
69-74 next 10 days

Also, I think the Frozen party is supposed to start the cruise after ours but does anyone think we will get surprised with it?

Ugh. I have a nice wool coat that I was going to bring, specifically thinking of Tracy Arm day, but assuming it would come in handy other days as well. It's really bulky though, and would take up a lot of room in the suitcase. I can't decide now if I should bring it or not! Sigh.

As for the Frozen party.... my guess is yes, barring any unexpected issues with it, we will get it. 8-)

Wow, yeah, weather like that will totally mess with our packing plans too! Don't ge me wrong, I would be thrilled to bring less of the heavier clothing and a couple of pairs of shorts instead!! It will be very interesting to keep watching those tepms to see if they change at all as we get closer to departure...thanks for sharing the temps with us LOLA2!! I was just thinking last night I should start looking at that information..you beat me to it!

Hey, one other interesting bit of information for any astronomy geeks. I got to looking up at the new moon this morning and wondered what the moon would be like for our trip. I found this neat site with the phases of the moon in a calendar. http://www.moonconnection.com/moon_phases_calendar.phtml It won't quite make it to full before we get off the ship, but it will be close. It should be beautiful sailing that last night!

I may be the totally wrong person to answer this, but when it comes to my vacations, we don't chance it. Better to make the flight than not! I wonder if they are saying that because of an expected high volume of travelers at the airport for the day you are flying? Our flight is direct to Vancouver and our instructions say 2 hours in advance.

I've always read that the standard airport arrival time for domestic flights is 2 hours prior, and international flights is 3. Our airline says 2 hours for in or out of US to Canada, but MCO says 3. So yeah, I guess we're going with 3 to be safe. We're flying Air Canada from Orlando to Vancouver with a stop in Toronto. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but I didn't get to pick. :confused3

I'm hoping those temps hold for our week. I'm not out of jeans unless we're in the 70's plus I am considering the fact that our excursions are either in a boat or on a mountain which will have a 10 degree minimum swing in temperature. I have to pack for San Diego weather too since that's the 2nd half of our trip so I will be prepared either way. I'm really trying to avoid only slightly overpacking here. Can't fit everything anyway so we'll see.

We're flying Air Canada from Phila. connecting in Toronto. It's a pretty big plane out of Toronto, maybe you guys will be on our flight?

That would be cool! Ours is Sunday, 5/24 and is suppose to leave Toronto at 12:10pm. Flight 101.

Well, unfortunately our flight out of Toronto is at 9:00am so we won't see you on the plane, but we will beat you there! Ha!Ha!

You should come over to the Pan Pacific on Saturday at 8:00pm for our pre-cruise mini meet. We'll be in Cascades Lounge.
