To those who visit and shop at summer lace, I read that Guerlain perfumes are sold there and am wondering if Guerlain cosmetics are sold there as well. Thanks!

Yes they have some of the cosmetics but not much. I left my foundation at mil's last May and bought some there. They had a small assortment of the basics. Mascara, foundation, lips and cheeks.

Thank you for that info! Did you book 5? I wonder if they'll let us book 5 people... Hmmm. Glad your tall kiddo fit! That's encouraging :-)

We only had 4. Ds didn't want to sleep with dd. I knew it only slept 4 but I requested it for space. I was going to request a cot but ds liked the couch and it was only for one night before a transfer to VGF so it was fine. (I could request because we were in SL.)
The extra space and balcony too was really nice.

Good Afternooon everyone :wave2:

Had some unexpected surgery last week, just getting back to the swing of things and trying to catch up on the thread :). So far 2014 hasn't been the best for us...can't help but think (or hope) that the rest of the year will be smooth sailing!.

Wishing you a speedy recovery... And all the best in the year ahead!

Wow! Another GF FAQ already. Great work as always, k&a&c'smom! :thumbsup2 You always do such a fantastic job and just wanted to reiterate how appreciative all of us DISers are. :goodvibes I remember that the GF FAQ used to be among the quieter FAQ's on the DIS and that is most definitely not the case any longer!!

It has been some time since I last posted here, so mostly just wanted to check in and say hi. :wave2: My mom is already talking about wanting to book another January 2015 trip, so perhaps a trip is in the not-too-distant future. The GF room décor is still not growing on me () and we have stayed at the GF twice recently, so it's looking like maybe the AKL or BC this time around... would love to return to the Poly, but just too much still going on with the construction!

I hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the start of spring! I'll try to check in here more often, but know that I am always lurking even when I don't find time to post.. :tiptoe:

Hi maria Nice to "see" you! :goodvibes We really enjoyed the nice weather and low crowds last January... I think its a fine time to visit the world!

I agree....k&a&c'smom does a great job with this thread :thumbsup2.

How exciting that you might have another trip in the works :goodvibes. We might be headed to Disney the middle of January, but nothing is definite yet.

Me three..she really does a great job!!! The first few pages of this thread are always up to date..and filled with terrific info! :thumbsup2 Add us to the "maybe" January list...:goodvibes

Please forgive me if this has recently been discussed, but searching for things on here can be a beast sometimes!

I'm curious about the lodge tower room - I think they're calling it a Deluxe Outer room - garden view? Anyway, it's a bit larger than the standard and has a sofa, but it indicates it only sleeps 4 - not 5. Does the sofa not pull out like in other rooms?

So confused, but I'm sure I came to the right place. I've gotten conflicting information when I've called. Thanks so much for your help!

There is not a definitive answer to that at the moment..due to limited info on the newly refurbished rooms....If they have replaced the love seat in the sitting area of those lodge tower rooms with the new day bed (it really could pass for a love seat) then there would be a additional bed available...Currently the lodge tower rooms are designated for parties of 4 as the love seat does not pull open to a bed...

Another GF fan here just saying I'm not going to get used to the new decor either...just not in keeping with the overall feel of the Grand, as far as I'm concerned! :confused3

I'm about over the cold (or whatever it was) that has been keeping me down for the last week. Like all you GF lovers, it always helps to come here and dream about our favorite place.....:cloud9: Plus, we are now in the 30s in our countdown, so that is even more "healing"! :)

Glad that you are feeling better grannyminnie... :woohoo: for being in the 30's in your countdown!!!

To those who visit and shop at summer lace, I read that Guerlain perfumes are sold there and am wondering if Guerlain cosmetics are sold there as well. Thanks!

I don't recall seeing any cosmetics from Guerlain during our last visit to Summer Lace...the only cosmetics that I saw were part of that Disney collection...Traditionally they have not carried cosmetics...Mostly clothing..jewelry and hand bags...and a small assortment of perfumes...

Looks like spring might actually be here to stay in the NE.... :flower:

Hope that all of my fellow GF fans are having a wonderful Wednesday!!! :earsgirl:

That's interesting...I don't recall ever seeing any cosmetics there (besides that Disney collection) ...:upsidedow .... One more reason to be sure to make a Summer Lace visit...lol...as if we need one...

Thanks trishadono and blueskies. I'm in double trouble if they have both! Guerlain is my favorite! Looking forward to checking out the shop this summer.

Every year we stay at GF and every year my DH wants to go to Victoria & Alberts. I finally gave in and we made reservations at Queen Victoria Room for our upcoming trip. I know he will LOVE it, but I'm a little nervous about it :scared: . I have allergies and I'm also a very picky eater.

Hey guys,
My first GF stay is coming up in a couple weeks and i was wondering what room requests i should make if i want to be close to and get at least a bit of the view of the beach pool/lagoon. Ill be in a garden view room. Im thinking big pine key? Thanks!

For BPK I think maybe upper floor might be good.

To get a view of water your chances are better in Sago. One side lagoon and other side is marina but the building is categorized as GV.

We had lagoon side and although not much to see it was nice to watch the monorail .

Really there isn't a bad room anywhere on property, all good!

You will love gf! It is so lovely when you are staying there and not just visiting. Something about calling it "home" while you are there is well, quite GRAND.:goodvibes

I think that BPK or Boca Chica would offer you the best opportunities to see a bit of the lagoon..not really the beach pool tho...

I do believe those rooms in BPK are caregorized as LV rooms...maybe MickeyNut or WishesQueen will be able to offer some better perspective on these rooms as I know they both have stayed in BPK a few times...in Boca Chica ..with a GV room category there are rooms that face towards the boat dock area and would offer a partial lagoon view... mariamouse maybe you can jump in here..since you had a recent BC stay...

Sago GV rooms I believe offer marina views...or woodland views on the back side of that building..

With that said....GVs in both BPK and Boca Chica also have lovely views of the courtyard pool area (beware of the pool house views tho..lol..I understand that on the lower floors of BPK you might end up with that)... HTH... :flower3:

BTW..congrats on your first GF stay! I bet it won't be your last! :goodvibes:

Oh! You noticed.... :rotfl: I know, sooooo unlike me, huh? :rolleyes2 Yes, I absolutely wanted to be in the MK area. I've done my usual flip flopping but I think this is it. For the past few weeks, I have thought we were going to have to move our trip dates up by a week or so, because I thought our date were going to overlap with the first few days of school, so I had switched to BC since it was cheaper....knowing that switching airfare was going to cost me extra.... But, 9/2 was confirmed as the 1st day of school, so now our dates of 8/16-8/26 are all set, and I moved us back to the GF!!!:woohoo: Very excited that everything fell into place and that we will be able to stay here for the 1st time! :goodvibes

Yay mousemommy and a pirates mom we will be there the same time too!!!! I don't want to wish the summer away but, I can't wait for August!

Thanks so much everyone for your help with the lodge tower rooms. I guess I'll have to wait and see what the refurbishments do. It's so hard to wait!

Thank you!

We stayed in Boca Chica this past January in a GV room and requested to face Narcoossee's on a higher (but not the top) floor. All of our requests were met and we had a lovely view. See pictures here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?p=50760834#post50760834

Straight ahead, the view was of Narcossee's and a sliver of water by the boat dock. Looking right, though, we could see the lagoon and the CR (and parts of the electrical water parade). We loved it and weren't even in a room as close to the lagoon as you could be, so imagine those room views are even better.

Like BlueSkies said, the GV rooms in BPK and the remaining GV rooms in BC have a lovely view of the courtyard pool, but not really the lagoon (I do love these room views too, though!) If you're set on seeing the lagoon, the next best choices would probably be Conch Key or Sago Cay since rooms facing the marina look out over part of the lagoon (especially those farther out on the marina) and, from Conch Key, the monorail in the distance. My preference would be Conch Key over Sago Cay for location. I might also suggest some of the Conch Key higher rooms facing Narcoossee's since some of those might also look out at the CR and lagoon straight ahead instead of off to the side from BC.

Just let me know if you have any questions and, like BlueSkies already said, you will love your first stay! You truly can't go wrong with most of the GV room views at the GF, so don't worry! :thumbsup2

Yay mousemommy and a pirates mom we will be there the same time too!!!! I don't want to wish the summer away but, I can't wait for August!

It's a Dis Party!!! party:

:yay: May our weather be warm & our drinks be plentiful! Come on August!:beach:

You will all have a BLAST! :cool1: So jealous and excited to hear about your experiences!

Maybe we will be in the World at the same time?! We will travel during MLK weekend if we do end up deciding to make a trip in January. Glad to hear that you potentially have something in the works as well! :)

I completely agree that the GF still has so much to offer. We will most definitely be back because of those beautiful grounds, views, amenities, etc. After all, the Grand truly is grand (even if the rooms aren't their grandest right now)!

And I will definitely try to be better about posting, although my post count over the years doesn't necessarily bode well. We always seem to frequent the same threads anyway, though, so I'm sure you will be seeing enough of me! ;) All is well here and I hope the same goes for you!

How coincidental as MLK weekend is the time we will be going as well if we go in January :goodvibes. Our trip isn't definite as I have to wait and see what days my oldest has classes that semester, but it never hurts to think ahead ;). Where are you thinking of staying?

The GF is an overall beautiful resort and although I don't like the new rooms, you can't beat the surroundings :cloud9:.

Don't worry about posting.....I get in slumps where I either don't feel like being on the computer or time doesn't allow it. We're happy to "see" you whenever you post :). Yes, we do seem to frequent the same threads, don't we .

I'm about over the cold (or whatever it was) that has been keeping me down for the last week. Like all you GF lovers, it always helps to come here and dream about our favorite place.....:cloud9: Plus, we are now in the 30s in our countdown, so that is even more "healing"! :)

Glad you're feeling a little better :flower3:. You will be checking into the Grand before you know it :woohoo:.

Yes she does :thumbsup2....and I agree about the first few pages of this thread in that they are filled with great information and can answer just about any question regarding the GF :wizard:.

I didn't know you were thinking of a January trip.......could it possibly be over MLK weekend???? That would be great if it was and both me and mariamouse were able to go that time as well......could be a GF gals meet :goodvibes.

I hope you have a good time at V&A. I can't comment on it as we've never eaten there, but those that have experienced it seem to really like it :).

:woohoo: 116 days and counting!:hourglass

Your trip will be here before you know it and you will love the GF :wizard:.

Congrats on booking your first GF stay......you're going to love it :). I think BPK would be a good choice for a lagoon view, however, like BlueSkies posted, you won't really have a view of the beach pool (although you might be able to get a small glimpse of it off to the side). Boca Chica would be my other choice, but there wouldn't be any view of the beach pool (but both buildings overlook the courtyard pool which is a very pretty view :goodvibes).

I don't want to wish the summer away but, I can't wait for August!

You will be at the GF before you know it :wizard:.

When booking a reservation at V&A state your allergies and preferences; the restaurant will accomodate your requests. I am possibily allergic to two foods and dislike another, and V&A has tailored my menu nine times.

Go ahead and book a V&A dinner. And enjoy!

All the best. :thumbsup2
