2014 Free Dining PIN Code Thread

If I didn't get a FD PIN today is it possible I could still get one? We're thinking we'll upgrade to a moderate if we get FD. We know the chance is very slim but it sure would be nice!

Absolutely, they roll out in waves.

If you don't get one in a week, give them a call and ask.

Wait another week and repeat.

People do this all the time, then a week comes and they call and have one!!!

We always go in January, but didn't go this year. During the past year I got several free dining pins via email and postcard for spring, summer and fall dates. But, now that I'm trying to plan a winter vacation... still waiting for that free dining pin to show up...

There was a post on Facebook this morning by someone stating that there were pin codes going out for 2014. I haven't gotten one nor have I ever received a gosh darn pin code for any of our 19 trips to Disney. They know that I'm a sucker and will go whether I have a code or not. :rotfl: The post refers to "one PIN codes" but it has two different offers?

Here's a copy of what was posted:

Right now, there is one PIN codes out for 2014:

* Free Disney Dining for arrivals most nights 1/3 - 3/5/2014.
* Save up to 35% off of your Disney Resort stay, most nights 1/3-3/5/14, 3/14-22/14, 3/30 - 4/12/14 and 8/17 - 9/27/24.

Hi All,
I have a quick question in regards to calling to check for pin codes. I consider myself pretty "DIS informed" but this has always confused me....people often comment that they call and don't have a pin code under their name so they have the CM check under a spouse or relative and there is one....I thought that there was only one disney account per household? :confused3 Can anyone enlighten me?!

Thanks!!

I was just thinking about this too and wondering if I should call back and ask if DH has a pin.

I've also gotten 2 different CMs that have commented that I have 3 different accounts in their system. Since they switched to the new website (MDE), the automated system never gets the correct account when I call. they always ask if my address is (my parents address), even though I am an adult, my parents have moved to a different state, and I haven't been to WDW with them since I was 15, but have been twice with my family (as an adult) since 2010.

I called early this week to check for a pin, and then again yesterday - nothing. But both were being rather hint-y. "You may want to call back in a couple of days and see if any more discounts show up." But when I try ot get them to be more specific, they became evasive. "like, should I call again tomorrow, and every day, or should I just call again next week?" Their answer... "both of those might benefit you. You never know!" Ugh... plan to call again on the way home from work today. And I'll probably ask them to check Dh's name for pins too. I hate tying up their phone lines - I feel like I'm wasting the CM's time.

I thought I'd start a thread on this one since some new info was just received.

There are some free dining PINs now circulating for dates between January 3 and March 5.

One person has already reported getting one (by accident), and I'm sure more will follow.

This is an interesting development in terms of free dining and how Disney is going about implementing it.

If someone receives a free dining PIN, could you please copy and paste the text here in a post? That would help us identify if there are different versions or if it is a single PIN.

I called this morning to see if a CM would tell me if any promotions are available for Feb 2014. We are booked at POR Standard for 2/4-2/12. Two adults and 1 Child and 1 Infant.

She said that S/P/D had expired (I figured that was because I was early asking about it). I than asked if Free dining was avaialble for my time frame. She repeated my resort reservation and than kept repeating "it's working it's magic" at least three times.

Some how she was able to give me free SDP plan for my time frame. When I was emailed the reservation it said Magic Your Way Package with Free Dining Pin. I never asked about a PIn the CM just applied it.

The free dining has brought my reservation down quite a lot. I still don't believe it. And I called back twice confirming it.

Why do they keep tempting this way?? I just got back a couple weeks ago. Finances are still on life support from that trip. I can't afford another trip so soon, but I soooo want to go!!! :sad2:

I got this as well!! Trying bit to think about it since I know we will have at least a year after our Oct trip. Lil

How do people get PINS? Is it for frequent travelers to Disney? We booked our first trip to Disney and I was able to apply the SDP discount for Visa members today to save almost $600 which was nice, but free dining would be fantastic! How would I know if I have a PIN or because this is our first trip to Disney will I not qualify for one?

Who gets a PIN is completely random. It doesn't matter if you been many times, a few, or not at all [yet]. As long as they have your contact information (i.e. you've registered on Disney website), it is possible you could receive a PIN via either email or snail mail. Good Luck! FYI - discounts do not stack, unfortunately. In order to qualify for FD, you have to pay rack rate for room & tickets. Usually the FD discount will save more money than RO, but that is not always the case. Just 'do the math' to see which would save the most if you could get FD discount.

Oh, so if I qualify for FD I would have to remove the SPD discount and only apply FD, assuming that is a better deal? Bummer. Is FD historically the biggest discount Disney offers? It seems to be the one everybody wants.

Free dining is the biggest deal as of late. I think I actually saved more money the first time we went with a "Buy 4 nights, get 3 nights free" offer.

But, mathematically, FD will be a bigger discount than SPD because:
SPD only offers $20 discount off each adult ticket. Kids ticket prices stay the same.
for SPD, everyone - adults and kids - pay kids prices, $18.88/person/night, for the dining plan.

With FD, you wouldn't save the $20/adult ticket, but you also wouldn't be paying the $18.88/person/night for anyone for the dining plan either. Since you usually stay more nights than adults in your party, FD is generally the winner.

Historically have certain resorts been excluded from free dining?

Unfortunately, yes. AoA Little Mermaid seems to have a permanent spot on the "this offer does not include" list, also 3-bdrm villas. There are others that are usually excluded from FD offers and some that are sometimes excluded. Depends on what advance bookings for a given resort look like when offer goes live. When FD offers do come out, certain resorts will sell out of their allotted rooms for the offer (certain number allotted for the various room categories - like std, pool view, preferred, etc). Sometimes more rooms are added for FD, but that's not a given. It's a good idea to have some alternate resort and/or room category choices in case the one you want doesn't have availability or is not included in the offer.

Do you pay kid prices for tickets with park hopper??

No FD PIN for me. :( I got a rude CM when I called, too. I hate when that happens!

A rude CM? I didn't know that existed! In the probably 10 calls I have made, each person blows me away with how courteous & helpful they are. One lady, I wanted to sit down and have drinks with, she was so much fun! :)

I'm glad you've had good luck with CM's! It's so disappointing when you call hoping for some magic, and all you get is someone who talks to you like you're an idiot because "no one has gotten PINs. PINs haven't gone out since the summer." Suuuure.
