2014 DL Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 11/14-11/16!!!

are the photo ops like photo pass? I will have photo pass + and was wondering if that is how Id get the photos? Or do I need to order from some where else? Also how close will they let family wait at the end of the race so they could get pics too? I am getting excited. I have walked (not ran) 5+ miles per day three days a week lately)
I know I am going to be speed walking , running, walking, and taking time I wont be one of the first but I hope I wont be one of the last too.

This will be my first Giant Race. I'm doing the 10K -- it'll be a nice break from the long runs in prep for the Avengers half.

10k's nice, just down to the wharf and back. Really flat and along the water.

Someone can correct. E if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can photo pass the race photos. There will be photographers on the course randomly and you have to buy those (they're pricey, head up), they will send you an email after the race w/ all of them and you can pick and choose. W/ the character stops, they have CMs who will take a pic for you. People use their phones, and I've even gone w/ a real camera before.

As for the course, if we finish in DCA, they let people in and around the finish area. There are some places right in front of the finish line and the spaces after the finish line after you get your medal and box. If we finish at the finish line of the 1/2 like the DL 5k, they can see you close to the finish line and then in the parking lot after.

Congrats on the mileage!

when you say pricey can any one give me estimate of the photo prices, are they all in a package or do they sell one at a time?

There is a CD you can order and I think it'll have all your pics. It was around $90 or so for Tink. The photos I think are $17-20 for 5x7.

Hi Kim,

It is Marathonfoto on the course. You are right, they are very pricey. I bought pictures once because it was a great one coming out of the castle, with my daughter. Otherwise I use a phone.

does any one have a site or email where some one could go ask questions about these photo spots and stuff? I am wondering for the 5 k how many spots there might be.

If you go on the runDisney site, at the very bottom, there is a contact us tab and you can submit your question to them.

Places I can think of off hand are the in Fantasyland before the castle sometimes, close to the compass on the other side of the castle so you can get a castle shot, if we finish in DCA by LM, there are usually some on Paradise Pier by where the Maliboomer used to be. They will be at the finish and there's a place post race to take a pic against a backdrop w/ your medal. I don't recall ever seeing any in the backstage area, b/c they like to keep that private. In the past we've run down Main Street for a few and they've had some there as well. If I think of more, I'll let you know, but that's all I can think of now.

first time checking in on this thread. my DH and I will be running the half (look for a Thor and Loki (me) on the course.

Thanks for posting the course map. I was wondering if we would get to go through the stadium or not.

I am starting to get really excited about this. last year we did the wine and dine half, which was my first major race. I am really hoping to improve my time and have a great time running this November.

You'll have a great time! My daughter and I ran the DL Half Marathon last year, and running through the stadium was a neat experience and a nice respite from the streets of Anaheim. Another thing that made the "outside Disney" areas interesting was the fact that multiple car clubs lined a portion of the route with their classic/muscle cars. Hope the Avengers HM has something similar for you all.

Hi - getting very excited for this race.

It will be my first California race and I will be earning my coast to coast medal...as I will be running the Wine and Dine the weekend before!

I am wondering about the get-travel tickets.

Does anyone know if they include a Magic Morning?
I purchased 5, 4, and 3 day park hoppers (we will be traveling in "shifts" - due to my husbands funny work schedule).

Thanks _ carrie

Added you guys to the list!

Carrie ~ no Magic Morning for the Get Travel tix. However, if you are staying in 1 of the 3 resort hotels, you'll have it. I'm doing W&D too! :goodvibes

If anyone's still in need of a hotel, just got an email from Get Travel that they're having a Columbus Day sale and they're offering the Sheraton Park Hotel for $149 a night instead of $173.

Also, we should hopefully get waivers next week!! :cheer2::cheer2: Wine and Dine came out yesterday so fingers crossed!

Glad the haircut works for the race and congrats on the weight loss!!

Hoping to finally finish my costume for the 1/2 this weekend. Have been doing bits and pieces here and there but really want to get it done and out of the way.

Who are you going as? I'm doing easy but also my favorite which is captain America. I have my shirt. I want to get the navy sparkle skirt cause my shirt is more of a navy blue but its not in stock right now. They said they'll have it early November so fingers crossed! If not I guess I'll just wear my black one. Then I'm either gonna buy a kids play shield or I might make one out of cardboard and attach it to my handheld water bottle. Cant decide if I want to bring my handheld with me on the run or not. I usually don't but I've been training with it. But I guess RunDisney is pretty good about keeping the water spots well stocked. Still need to get a navy blue visor (I cant run without a visor) too.So yea basically all I have is the shirt I guess lol!

Good luck w/ the skirt being in stock on time! Hopefully even if they don't have them online they'll have them at the expo. Are you going to do a sparkle visor or a regular visor? If it's a regular one, check runnerswarehouse.com. I got one on sale a few weeks back for WDW for $12.

As for my costume... I'm being a rebel and going disney themed instead of comic themed. :rotfl2: I'm going as the Matterhorn. I have a white shirt w/ the old bobsled sticker on front and the safety saying on the back. I'm working on bobsleds and a monorail to attach to my running belt and these cool Snowman eyes I found on etsy to attach to a white hat. Plus, I picked up white/silver sparkle material that my mom said she'd try to make me a sparkle skirt; best part is I can reuse that for WDW and SW in Jan. I'm not that into comic books so I figured this is the next best thing. Upside though, no one else will have the same costume. :rotfl: I'll post the pics tomorrow.

So I have a question about people planning to run with props - have you trained running with something? What creative suggestions would you have to someone who hasn't. I would like to have the staff/ scepter thing for loki but I know I can't carry it.
