2014 Disneyland 1/2 Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** Updated 7/29 with Corral Info

I fly out on Friday morning and I officially have pre-race jitters!!!

Hope everyone is excited. It is looking to be a HOT weekend! I am only doing the 10K Saturday so I will be done by the time the sun really starts coming down, but all you half marathoners, be sure to hydrate and wear hat and/or sunglasses! :cool1:

This will be my first Run Disney. I am doing the 5K just started few months ago and have a bad knee. Trying to increase my walking speed and my hubby is helping me once aweek with 10/50 run/walk to build up. Glad I found this thread.

Very cute designs. So, is that "I Did It" shirt available after the race or do people usually buy those up front? Do they sell out?
People do buy them before the race, I'm not sure if they sell them or not after. I think I might have seen a tent at the finish line area 2 years ago.
Maybe someone else knows better that was there last year. When I did the princess they did sell out of the "I did it" shirts (on the first day) but they had more made in a different color.

Uh I should probably put a disclaimer in front of this: TP in the past can be a bit off on their crowd levels at Disneyland. And I think someone hasn't checked their dates and realized that that weekend is Labor Day weekend. Because they are showing a 2.5 and 2 for Disneyland and DCA on Saturday. And 3.2 and a 3.9 for Sunday for the respective parks on Sunday.

And yeah I've done Disneyland enough times at Labor Day weekend. The crowd level isn't that low. I'm not good at rating so I'm not sure what I would rate it at. But a 3 max? Noooo.

Actually correction DCA jumps to 6.5 on Monday. That might be more about what I would describe it as. It's not extremely crazy but its still crowded in the parks. But yeah I disagree with them on the below 5 assessment for the rest of the weekend.

But to answer your earlier question with school in and most of the Labor Day crowd clearing out after Monday. The parks should be pretty empty after that point (at least in comparison to say a weekend). If its like when I've been there on non high season then expect some pretty short lines. And have a blast!

Saturday and Sunday are blackout dates for most Annual Passes and thus the lower crowds. Labor Day weekend is actually a fairly slow weekend for DL and that's why the race weekend was chosen to help drum up business. It's the same reason you never see race weekends during the height of summer, spring break, or Christmas holidays. Race weekends are during the low attendance times. BTW, Monday is not a blackout date and notice the jump in attendance.

This is great news! I plan to go into Disneyland on Saturday and I was anticipating crazy crowds. I know it will be busy, but at least the AP blackout will help a bit with that.

Ahhh, getting so nervous! Race jitters galore!!!

Buy it up front. Don't assume they won't sell out.

I absolutely second this. I expect a lot of the race specific merchandise to sell out, which has been a common trend over the past couple of race weekends out on this coast. Better to be safe than sorry.

We're now only days away! When exactly is everyone arriving?

I've got work all week, until Friday night. But I'm so excited to check into the Disneyland Hotel on Saturday for the race and to celebrate my birthday a little early!

:cool1:

Bring it on!

Welcome to the thread revcohea and ColoBlu6! Got you both added to the runner list. Good luck this weekend :)

Woo hoo! My BFF/running partner and I arrive tomorrow night. Can't believe it's finally here!

My sister and I arrive Friday afternoon to run the 10k! I'm coming from Napa and so looking forward to a break from earthquake clean up. I'm exhausted and sore from days of cleaning and emotional stress. Probably won't run a great race but visiting the happiest place on earth is just what I need!

Oh so sorry to hear what you've been through. I hope everyone's ok. I used to live up in No Cal. I was there for the Loma quake. Disneyland is just what you need :)

Not to be a dork but how do I comment on the race signs thread? I have an acct and am logged in but stumped ! lol

BTW, while it's on my mind - did anyone run the 5K last year and not manage to pick up the pin for it? I recently found an extra one that I had picked up for a friend but she managed to get her own. I would love for it to find a new home with someone who got to run last year. Not asking for anything for it, so just PM me if you're interested. All I ask is it's someone who could possibly pick it up from me sometime this weekend.

:cool1: So close!! Will you have any park time tomorrow night, or just getting in and getting settled?

I can imagine! A close family friend of mine in Vallejo sent me photos of the damage at her home and I don't envy the process of picking up those pieces. A 6.0 is not a small earthquake at all, but I am so glad you're OK!

It just reminded me of that 5.3 we had down here not too long ago. I hate earthquakes with a passion!

At least you've got an account ;) You're halfway there. As a solo runner who doesn't have friends/family to cheer me on I would love to have a supportive sign out there with my name on it, but I won't go through the steps of creating an account just for that. But that's so awesome that they do something like that. I've seen their little set up with each DLR race I've run - and I especially love when they had ice to dole out one year.

If I wasn't always running, I would love to organize something like this for our DIS runners.

My reaction to the leaked merch designs and the race shirts is an overwhelming "meh" :confused3 I hope they have some good C2C stuff available!

We're just going to hang at the hotel and then do the Expo Thursday, go to the beach and rest Friday, more pool Saturday and then, after the race, we'll hit the park through Tuesday. We didn't want to wear ourselves out.

Good thinking! I don't think people always realize just how exhausting the parks can be. Plenty of time for fun after, and this way you get plenty of relaxing in too!

I'm a little mad at myself for not taking more time off before the 1/2 for this very reason, lol.

My flight got in at 1:30pm, but by the time I got through immigration, waited for my shuttle, then battled LA traffic, it was close to 5pm by the time I actually got to my hotel :scared1:

I did some house keeping (eg exchanged our vouchers for tickets etc), then enjoyed a few hours at Disneyland :goodvibes
