The "List":

Check out the following:

1. the locker and shower situation - aka "shower-gate"
2. teabags in the resort rooms and at the Marketplace
3. the general condition of the BC - how the resort looks - run down or not
4. we are daring to try the DTD bus - I'll report my experience
5. if there are any "to go" cups available for tea, etc, in the room or other place
6. pool hours at SAB

Is there anything else to add? :)

Maybe ask what type/brand pillows they use at the Villas? No big deal if that makes your list too long, just thought I would throw it in in case. Thanks

I really want to try Beaches and Cream. My son has a peanut allergy, but it sounds like they're very good about accommodating that ( open a new tub of ice cream and use a clean scoop).

We're supposed to get more snow Thursday. LindyWebb, I'm living vicariously through you. :)

Me too!!!:cool1: I really could use one of their burgers today!:rotfl2:

I live in near Charlotte but over the border in SC. I am originally from Syracuse!!!

I am from right outside of Raleigh and they close school now when it is raining in the next county.:rotfl::rotfl: My DH is from Syracuse too but I am from eastern NC originally.:)

I'm thinking that in a symbolic protest, at the August Beach Club/Yacht Club/BCV Dis meet, we all gather around this outdoor shower, strip off our suits and lather up in protest at the lack of locker room access. I'm starting a sign up sheet below. There is no need to add your name as I will take the trouble to put you in myself.

This should let management know that A) We definitely need the use of those locker rooms and B) We are middle aged and droopy which is not an attractive combination at a deluxe resort pool.

7) Janet Mom (She has volunteered to lead us in a rousing rendition of O Janitor:

O Janitor, Our home and locker land!
After Storm Along bay our showers they were planned
With glowering hearts we seethe and cry
Locker room access should be free!
From far and wide,
O Janitor, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our locker glorious and free!

Ok, Who'd I miss??

Okay - someone needs to provide video footage of this event!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:I might have to fly in!:rotfl::rotfl:

Hi again. Another Great day at the BCV. We got up super early today for breakfast at Cinderella's castle. We were on the bus headed to Magic Kingdom at 7:10. The bus was there waiting when we came out and I timed it and it was exactly 12 minutes to MK. We had a great day. Being there early is a definite must! We did a ton of rides in the first 2 hours. Then fast pass in the afternoon. We went to Liberty Tavern for dinner. It was great. I am not doing the dinning plan but I am keeping all of my receipts and I will let you know how it works out. My DS is ten and it felt like highway robbery to have to play for an adult meal plan. I have twice asked (sci-fi diner and today) for kids meals for him and not had a problem. I almost feel like they need a " tween" plan or something, ten seems young for an adult meal plan.

After a busy day in the park we were back in SAB for 2 hours during which time DS lost his magic band in the pool! Of course because we are from Canada they are the grey ones and on the grey sand in the dark we weren't finding it. Off to guest services/check-in and they gave us another one right away. I thought they might make me wait to see if someone turned it in later but nope. Easy as pie!

One thing else wonderful about BC I wanted to mention was the in-lobby photo pass station. I have memory maker and two things (Jedi training and enchanted tales with belle) they take photos of the session then you pick the ones you want (presumably of your own kid!) and sync it to memory maker. It is so nice to have that service right in the lobby.

And my final praise for BC today is mouse keeping! Another great towel animal today and twice since we got here we have called once for pillows and then last night my DD decided to hog the blanket on her brother so we called for blankets, both times within minutes they were at our door with what we requested!

I definitely love this place and today my DD said "we get to come back here right?" We think alike!

Lots of spa shower drama on the board here, I will ask tomorrow and bring you any insight!

Yeah! So glad you are having a great time! Keep it coming with the updates!!!!

Are their any YC CL GV rooms available for 5? We are in a SV CL room right now but was thinking of upgrading and am thinking it won't work for 5 peeps. Thanks!!

Bob and I had plans to drive into Disney today and meet friends for dinner. They just called and cancelled. Last night they shared a cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory and were up all night with food poisoning. They are still feeling real bad and are ordering ginger ale, soup and crackers from room service all day. If they are up to it, we're heading in to meet up with them tomorrow night. Feel so bad for them!!!

Is there always an early bus to MK or AK from BC? I am nervous we will be shelling out can fair like crazy because we have a few early morning (8:00) ressies for BBB and breakfast. Is the early bus daily and what time does it come?? Thx!

This is what I know about YC CL GV Rooms, from past guests who have provided info.

Some specific info about YC CL GV rooms (5):

View of Wedding Gazebo:

5148
5150 2 Queens, Daybed
5152 2 Queens, Chair with ottoman
5154 2 Queens, Daybed

View of Lakeside (back) Entrance Courtyard

5198 King Bed

I am not sure of the bedding configuration in 5148. It may be another King.

There are a couple of rooms in that category that will sleep 5 people, but since it is just a small percentage, I'm not sure if the Yacht Club books this category for families of 5. Probably not.

I wish I had definitive information about the overall bus service at the resorts, but pretty much what I know comes from word-of-mouth from guests' reports.

There are supposed to be early buses to get you to the parks in time for early reservations. I am frequently at the bus stops for MK and AK at 7:30 for early EMH, and a bus is always there within 5 minutes, getting us to the parks close to 8. There usually aren't many people at the stops waiting anxiously for a bus to come along, so that leads me to believe that anyone who had early reservations has already been picked up prior to 7:30. But that is all that I can offer for insight.

That really stinks for you, but especially for your friends! I hope they are feeling better quickly!

:rotfl: you can add me to the list

:scared1:

You madam are a fine patriot! Thank you for your service to this 'nekked' cause!

Oh, shame, we don't arrive until the 19th.

Never fear! Ninja Mom is here and she knows you are crushed to miss out on this unique experience. That's why she is scheduling a special repeat performance starring JUST YOU on your arrival day.

The rest of us undoubtedly will be in jail by then so we will be unable to support your performance. We will however save you a lower bunk at the jail house accompanied by a nice fluffy jail house pillow.

For those of you who know I work in Harlem... the explosion is about 20 blocks from me so I am fine and not at work today anyway. It really looks like a war zone. So far there are 2 confirmed dead and lots hurt. There is a lot to search... happened about 9:30am so lots of people out and about. They don't expect terrorist... looks like it might have been a gas explosion. Anyway prayers for the people involved in the rescue and those who live and work in that area!

Lol!! I'll need to be flat like Dee and Mike are for this meet... I'll be preparing for my move to Dallas, but I wish I was going to be there for this meet for sure!!

Speaking of which, there is some buzz about a visa discount for this upcoming summer... has anyone confirmed the sale?

Thanks!

I just received an email regarding that sale.. but when I click on the link nothing comes up. The email is saying 35% off this summer, but no details. If I see anything else I'll post!

The buses to the PARKS start running an hour before what ever the park opening time is for that day's schedule.

If you have a Resort to Resort transportation need it depends on where the resort is as to whether you can take a bus or need a cab.

For example:
For a Magic Kingdom area resort you can take the bus to MK and then a boat to the Wilderness lodge or Fort Wilderness

and a boat/Monorail to the Poly and Grand Floridian.

For the Contemporary it's just a short walk from the MK bus terminal or you could torture yourself and walk all the way over to the time eating Monorail and take that to the Contemporary.

For the Epcot area resorts you could take the bus to Hollywood Studios (NOT EPCOT, they won't let you walk through UNLESS you have a breakfast meal in one of the countries like Norway and Akershus!) and walk the 1 mile path to the Epcot area resorts (Swan/Dolphin Boardwalk/Yacht and Beach Clubs). I'm not sure if the boats are running then but they might be.

For Downtown Disney I have no clue... I'm not sure what time Bippity Boppity opens at DTD.

As for the other resorts, that are AWAY from Disney parks, I'm thinking that a cab is the best bet. Yeah sure you could take a bus to a park and then catch a bus from the park back to the resort you are trying to get to, but this would take a lot longer and be stressful as you ate up time with the uncertainty of whether or not your bus would come and you would make your reservation time.

When you take a cab, it's in the 10 to 20 dollar range, depending on where you want to go, and it's a lot more relaxing knowing that there are no uncomfortable variables like if the next bus is coming or if it will be full and you have to stand.

I just budget about a $100 extra dollars for cabs in my trip plans. I usually never use all that amount and having the cab option is totally worth it as it provides more time in a very busy schedule and it is far more relaxing to just hop into a cab and get there right when I need to.

To put it in a time perspective you could spend almost an hour and a half waiting for a bus to come and then getting to a place where you have to make yet another transportation connection to get to your final destination.

So to sum it up... if you are simply going from a resort to a park, Disney transportation is fine and no cab is needed, even for the early morning restaurant reservations or early park special tours like the Behind the Steam Trains tour. Remember that the buses start running an hour before that day's park opening.

If you are going from a resort that is not connected to a park area like from the Yacht Club to Caribbean Beach, a cab is really your best bet unless you want to eat up an hour and a half of transportation time using Disney transportation from your resort ~to a park ~to the other resort.

I hope that helps!

So excited, we are going back to the Beach Club!!!!!:banana:

I had such a great time during our Villa and CL stay this past September that when we went to Disney in December and stayed at AOA Cars Suite I missed the Beach Club, does that make me crazy??? LOL

We had a trip booked at FT Wilderness in a cabin for May, but I kept thinking about the BC. I went on the website today and saw that with a passholder rate I could stay at the BC in a standard room for the same price plus tax that I paid for the cabin!!! I looked into it further and I ended up booking a Deluxe CL room. We are starting our beach vacation with 2 days at the BC before going to South Ponte Vedra Beach for the week. It doesn't get any better than that!

So, can I please be added to the BOG list? May 31 and June 1

I'm up for this. I've had four kids, so I definitely fit into the category of middle-aged and droopy. And I was a theatre major in college, so I have no shame whatsoever.

And your song is brilliant!

I want to thank everyone for chiming in on beaches and cream. My son's allergy isn't severe, fortunately, but I don't want to expose him if I don't have to. He's very good about asking if something has peanuts in it.

nanette - I'm glad you're okay. I've seen some of the pictures and it looks awful. I pray they don't find any more victims.

:welcome: and congratulations!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 (Post 15) of this thread.

One of the best things about the YC and BC is that you only need to take buses to AK and MK (and DTD/Waterparks). You walk to EPCOT and take a boat, or walk, to HS.

I have always been happy with the bus service from BC.

For hints and tips, I suggest you start with Post 13 (FAQ) and Post 14 (Other Useful Info) on Page 1 of this thread. Then let us know if we can answer any questions for you.

:yay:

Thanks so much!! I actually worked at the Boardwalk during my college program, so I'm super excited to be able to walk to Epcot/DHS! :goodvibes

EDIT: Oh, and we'll be there May 26-June 1!

Hmmm well the 35% I got on the bounce back is the best deal!! Though my deal is a fall deal.

Thanks for the info!

I have a few quick question.

1. Where do you have to enter SAB from Yacht Club? Is SAB completely gated, so as to enter through a gate to scan your magic band?

I am staying CL YC (5th flr) and want to be as close as possible (least amount of walking) to get to sab.

2. What location on 5th floor would you recommend?

I have looked at several maps and cannot see where you would go into sab.:confused3

Saw this on the news and thought about you then thinking New York is a huge place......World can be really small sometime. Glad you are safe but so sad.

Minnie0621,

Yes, the pool is completely gated. Everyone in your party will be scanned to enter the pool area. There are several entrances around the perimeter of the pool. Can't help with the YC location request.

How awful! Thank God you are ok!

Prayers to all of those affected by the explosion.

Okay friends, I have a (maybe stupid, don't judge! :lmao:) question! I read the thread on making room requests as well as the thread with the pictures of different rooms at YC. Since it's our honeymoon, I'm really hoping to get a king sized bed. I fell in LOVE with this room from the YC garden views thread.

I realize that requesting a particular room number is not a great idea, so here is my question: What exactly should I request if I'm hoping for a room w/king sized bed w/this view? The two circled areas on this map are what I am thinking I should request, but what exactly should I say?

Again, sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just trying so hard to make sure our Disneymoon is perfect! TIA! :thumbsup2

Very possible. We rent a towncar service ahead of time ( only a few $ more than a taxi) If we just have carry on's we are usually at BC in 30-35 mins.

Thanks Couchy! That is what I was hoping to hear!:banana::banana:
