So it started out as an awful day when my 5 am flight was cancelled. I flew standby and actually was the last standby allowed on the new flight ! Made it to Orlando the same time the other flight was suppose to land . Phew... Made it

Arrived at BC about 90 minutes ago and as I was walking through the second set of doors about to turn right to go to the check in desk I hear a guy running and saying my name. I turn around and a wonderful CM with an iPad tells me to follow him to check in upstairs!!!!! I said but I only booked a standard view and he said and you have a standard view just on the concierge floor :) can you say pixie dust . DH immediately wanted to add days but I reminded him that we only have a one night stay because BC is totally booked . I will however enjoy my 1 night and 2 days at SAB

Please remove us from the May Be Our Guest list.

We are still at BC in 12 days but decided to go back to the Poly for May instead of Yacht Club since the pool will be open.

DH and I are hoping for a Food and Wine trip and will likely do Y or BC again then.

Any idea what time the pool and hurricane Hanna's is open till usually in May? Our first night we don't land until 5:50p and our plan was to check in and go to SAB hang out and eat but if the pool closes at 8 I want to have a back up plan. Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing probably 9 PM. Crews Cup Lounge has great food and is open late.

The new mugs are on the Disney Dining site.

Can't speak for everybody but I sure miss Dee .

Who is this Dee woman of whom you speak??

Is this the woman who abandoned us and fled to Mexico because she was afraid of a little snow¿

I for one am certainly grateful that you hale and hardy Carolinians are brave enough to stick it out with the rest of us frozen friends of the Beach and Yacht clubs.

That woman better bring back some great stories. I want to hear tales of fabulous shopping trips and close calls with the law. If Jonny Dept. or Mathew McComeherehunny is involved in this warm weather vacation then all the better for the lady folk on the thread.... With our luck the only thing that she'll bring back for us is lurid pictures of food porn, and we all know how Dee loves her some food porn!

Love, your frozen friend Buzzy the fly.
PS Couchy! I'll be looking for you! If you feel something on your shoulder DON'T SWAT! It's just me saying hello XX OO

Hello everyone, I am new to the Disboards but not new to Disney. I have learned so much in these forums and I finally decided to join in the fun and start posting. My family is thinking about a stay at the BC this summer. I have a feeling this is a "dumb" question, but I could not find the answer in previous posts. What does it mean to be added to the be our guest list??? Thanks so much in advance for your time with a reply!

Welcome.:welcome:

The Be Our Guest list is a running list of those of us on the Disboards, and in particular, this thread that have upcoming trips planned with stays at the Yacht & Beach Club ... or in some cases, for those sneaking away to try some other resort -- just this once. ;)

Listed by month, Dee (our awesome thread leader!) will put down your user name, resort and dates. Some request to be added and some do not. It gives readers an idea of who all might be there during there stay and also serves as a happy place to check in on your upcoming stay, seeing it listed in all its glory on page 1.

It's simply a list that lets everyone who posts here know when you are coming to the resort. We are a friendly bunch so you might find that you have something in common with another guest that is coming at the same time as you.

For instance, we are having an informal list meet up on August 18th because a lot of people from the list are going that week. All are welcome to attend and if you are thinking about coming you will know who will be at the resort around the same time as you, in case you want to get together too... Other people might find that they have kids the same age and will be at the pool during the same hours. Some people might even find another family to share the cost of a fireworks cruise....

Most of the time nothing comes of it but we keep that list so that people who wish to submit their information can be listed along with the other guests staying at the resort. There is no pressure to be added to the list as it is just for fun. If you wish to keep your trip on the down low so that Buzzy, the resort's Bon vivant party fly, doesn't crash your Sunken Treasure drink... well then that's fine too! ;)

Thank you so much for your reply! Is Dee employed at Disney? Her posts are so informative and helpful, and I wondered if you have an opportunity to meet her while at the BC/YC. (If she is working on the particular days you are visiting of course). Thanks again for your reply, I appreciate your time!

I'm assuming many of you regular visitors to BCR & BCV ask for specific rooms. How accommodating are they at BC? We really want the 4th or 5th floor. We even know which rooms we want. Any insights would be helpful. We are still 123 days out.

I DO I DO!!

I know what you mean about checking the weather obsessively. I do too. I can not wait to leave this stupid polar vortex , constant blizzard. Uggggghhhh. I am now heading to bed since I need to wake up at 3 for my 5:30 flight.
Have fun and yeah to new flip flops:banana:

I hope the weather is amazing for you and you packed some flips flops!!

No, while I am sure she would happily volunteer to cover a shift or two, Dee does not actually work at the resort. She's just a "super fan" who like us enjoys the time she spends with her family at Disney. She unselfishly keeps this thread going, updating information as it comes a long.

Teena, however, is the super-friendly part-time Beach Club greeter who can be found in the lobby most Sundays and Mondays and posting here in her free time.

Fifth floor at the BCR is club level rooms only. But if you are staying at the BCR and did not book club level, make sure you add "4th floor requested" as your one and only request. The more requests, the less chance you will get them. It's always easier to get your request if you limit the request to one thing. Just remember requests are never guaranteed. The room assignors try hard but sometimes it is impossible ... what you request is not available on the day you check-in.

BCV is ALWAYS 99 - 100% occupied and therefore getting requests met are very hard. For instance, let's say you have a one bedroom reserved at the BCV arriving 9/1/14 for five nights. The BCV is a very small resort and there aren't that many one bedroom villas to begin with. You might request one on the fourth and fifth floor. The chance that one of the one bedroom units on the 4th or 5th floor being vacated on the day you check in is probably slim. So, although there might be a total of 30 one bedroom villas in the whole resort, there might only be 6 being vacated on your check-in date. Therefore, the only ones you could possibly get would be one of those 6. And the chance that one of those six is what you requested is pretty slim. Hope that makes sense.

The room assignors at the Y&B try very hard to meet requests. Most people request a full balcony at the BC and lets face it, only 50% of the rooms have a full balcony so obviously not everybody is going to get a full balcony. The room assignor can't give you what they don't have.

If what you want is not available on the day you check-in, then you always have the option of changing rooms when what you want is available. Personally I would not do that because I do not spend any time in the room except to sleep, change clothes or shower. I could care less where the room is or what I look at out the window. I know some people say they spend hours on the balcony and if that's the case, then a full balcony would be very important and if one was not available on the day they check-in, then they should ask when one would be available and change rooms on that day.

Another thing. If you are staying at the YC or BC (not the BCV), then please book the view you want. So many guests book a standard view (guaranteed view of a parking lot or roof) and then when they see their view, they don't like it. And in lots of cases, we can't upgrade you (at your cost of course) to a garden view (view of something green) or water view because those views are sold out on the day you check-in. So if a view is important, please book what you want!!!
