Can someone tell me if there are any standard view rooms on the first floor? Also, do rooms on the first floor that have patios have the ability to walk straight from the patios (or is there too much landscaping/shrubbery that prohibits you from walking right on/off the patio)? thanks!

I think there might be some standard view rooms on the first floor but the experts would really have to chime in on that...

I do know that some of the ground floor patios allow you to walk right out to a path (like by the 'secret room 1501 exit') and some are surrounded by shrubbery so it depends on the individual ground floor room.

The grass over by the volleyball court is what I like to refer to as "Bwanna Devil grass" because if you are going to walk over it you are going to 'bwanna' be wearing some sturdy, protective shoes because it is very rough on the tender tootsies. I found this out during a mad dash across it one night during a hot tub run to the quiet pool. My feet were screaming at me to get off that tough grass before a toe or two was sacrificed...

Guess who just got a pin code email today, and saved $279 for our upcoming POR stay on 1/29? Meeeeeeee :rotfl: :yay: I was booked with Stay,Play,Dine, and pin was free dining!! And that $279 is after the $50 change fee, and $15 admin fee!!
So excited! All this time, and I never got a pin code!!

Dee, I just want to say thanks for keeping this thread so beautifully managed. Everyone is so helpful and your first 15+ posts are a wealth of information! Now that my traveling companions are forcing me to stay at SSR, I'm having a very difficult time finding pertinent information on the resort, whereas a newbie to YC/BC wouldn't have that same problem. This thread rocks!

I think BC needs to add a fourth category for booking....a MM view or JD view! hahaha

can someone tell me if my timing here is right?

i land at MCO at 5 pm. i estimate getting to YC at 6 pm. my aunt will already have checked in earlier in the day, so i just need to drop my carry-on and go. question one: she's mailing my MB to me. when she checks in and gets the room, will it automatically sync to my MB? we're all already connected on MDE and are all linked to the resort reservation.

i want to run over to the boardwalk pizza window for a slice, so as to not break my first-day-pizza tradition. i imagine that will take about 20 minutes, putting me around 6:30 (being generous)? aunt & cousin will be coming to meet me from epcot.

we then want to run over to HS to take in what we can and see fantasmic at 8:30. if the boat takes 20 minutes from boardwalk, we'll get there just at 7, right? we don't have any other days to see fantasmic, so that's why i'm trying to get it in on arrival day.

having never stayed at an epcot resort, i'm not familiar with the logistics of going between the parks and the resorts, only that there's the boat and the walking path and each one takes about the same amount of time. i just want to make sure i'm not cramming too much in :D

Am I allowed to send a thank you gift to the concierge lounge crew at the Regatta Club? We have been quite pixie dusted on this trip and they have been very helpful and I would like to send a flower arrangement or an edible arrangement, just something to show our appreciation and I wasn't sure if that was allowed?

I brought two boxes of Fannie May chocolate (a fancy Chicago candy) to the CL CM's at BC last year. They had the boxes behind their desks to share with the CM's. An Edible Arrangement would be appreciated, I'm sure.

Just hit my 180 day mark!! Super excited for our first BC stay. We have always stayed at YC. Got all my dining reservations for the exact times too:cool1::banana:

Your magic band will work as soon as you walk in the door if your aunt has checked in. However, if you land at 5 PM, there is no way you will be at the YC at 6 PM unless you are one of the lucky people that walk right off your plane, don't stop at the bathroom, walk right to MDE, get right on the bus, bus leaves immediately and YC is your first stop. Rarely does that happen.

Absolutely allowed. Tips (money) are not allowed but gifts (including gift cards) are allowed. And food is greatly appreciated!

Now that Beaches and Cream takes ADR's will it be near impossible to be able to walk up for lunch? DH & I want to have lunch there in October and I'm wondering if I should just make a reservation to be on the safe side...thoughts?

So I got a call yesterday morning from my aunt saying that she booked a room at the BC for her and her DH (this will be the first time staying here for both of them, they normally stay at the Poly). They used the 30% off deal when they booked.

*snip*

However, I am excited that they are trying out this beautiful resort, for years it was either the Poly or nothing at all....it was almost like they didn't know there were tons of other resorts to choose from

Let us know if we can answer any questions for your aunt.

:goodvibes

Must be a Jersey night, great minds are dreaming of Disney on this cold snowy evening. Dee if you could please change our dates to August 20 -27, 2014 BCV. It's a done deal, we booked today!! :dance3:

Yes, I will make the adjustment.

:)

My mom and I will be staying at the BCV April 29th to May 5th. I am so looking forward to it especially with all this snow all around me right now

:welcome: back.

I'll add you to the list

:cool1:

:rotfl: Agreed! Bless my DH and DS12 who were out cleaning up the driveway while the other kiddos and I watched TV (well I did schoolwork).

Dee For the umpteenth time :duck: I've changed the reservation. I actually changed twice, first I added BACK CL :thumbsup2 I also dropped two nights, I am trying to be a good Mama and wife giving the family some Universal time. :goodvibes

We will be at the beach 8/15-21, then over to Hard Rock Hotel 8/21-24...then over to my happy place DISNEY :cloud9:

BC SV CL 8/24-29  This resort changer is staying at Beach Club

For a PP who asked about the number of connecting rooms... I did ask IPO the chances of possibly not getting connecting rooms, and I was told we have highest priority being 2 adults with 5 kids (kids outnumber us...). There's always a chance we won't get it, but it's all good. If it's an important request, make it your only request. Best of luck!

I'll make the change ;)

Have you stayed at the Hard Rock before? We loved it! My current trip report has lots of pictures and info about the Hard Rock rooms, grounds, pool, rock paraphernalia and a "secret entrance" If you go to the Table of Contents of my report, there are several posts under "It's a Hard Rock Life"

:rockband:

Hi! We are headed to the BC SV CL (I think I got that right!) from April 26 - May 4! It's our first trip to the BC and I'm very excited! We've stayed at the Poly, AKL, POR (princess room for one night), CSR, and the ASMo (for one night). My DH wanted the Poly again because of the monorail, but it wasn't available for when we could go with the spring discount. We are a family of 5, so we are limited as to where we can stay without truly breaking the bank. Darn 3rd child! LOL! We usually do the deluxe dining plan, but our oldest will be 10 and she in no way eats like an adult. So, we are going to pay OOP. The only difference in our eating plan is that we are scheduling way fewer character meals. We had 6 last time and are doing 3 this time. Can't wait for our trip!!!

Oh, and we haven't told our kids yet! We surprised them last time a few weeks out and we want to surprise them again this time. Their reactions were kind of funny! We haven't purchased airline tickets yet as we may add on a couple of day at US before the disney part. It depends on what flight prices look like. Once we secure airfare, we will be in a position to spill the beans.

*snip*

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:woohoo:

Great call on ditching the Deluxe Dining Plan. We did that once without club level and it was WAY too much food/time spent dining. And we are a family who loves to eat. A lot! We paid OOP on our last trip and my husband and I split a couple of meals and/or desserts and we were just fine.

The number you are looking for is the 12 digit all numerical number found on the Customize your magic bands page and also on your yellow magical express baggage tags.
That number along with your Disney log in info gets you access to the booking system for FP+ lunch reservations. These reservations do not count toward your 3 per day FPs as this is a separate stand alone "test" for the BOG booking system...

The reservation window for the upcoming month opens about 10 days/2 weeks prior to that month. Allowing you to choose a window for arrival & also choose your meal if that is the selection you wish.

:welcome:

Do you have an upcoming stay at the Yacht or Beach Club? August? Would you like me to add you to the Be Our Guest list?

:yay:

We are staying a week - June 11-18 - in a 2Br BC Villa. We rented through David's and so far, everything has gone great. There will be five adults, a 4-year-old and a near 2-year-old. The only thing left to do is get our park tickets. Can't wait! :)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:thumbsup2

Hi, we are planning a trip for late august or September and while we have only stayed at the Poly, with all the construction and pool closure, we are choosing the BC. I have 3 kids, 10,7, and 5 and I think they will enjoy the pool area. I'll miss the monorail, but can get over it, Lol!

My question is, is there a section of rooms near the pool? We stayed CL and in Samoa at the poly, both right by the pool and enjoyed the close proximity for the kids. Is it possible to request a room or is it a bad idea (noise, inconvenience, etc). Also, we will probably just do a standard view, will we be able to get a balcony? I'd like that or a ground floor with a patio, preferably by the pool???

Thanks for any information!!

:welcome:

Let us know when you book and I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Yes, there are standard views that have full balconies. I don't know about SV on the ground floor. By definition, the SV rooms have a view of rooftops (which you wouldn't have) or a parking lot in the front of the resort. I can't recall any rooms on the ground floor overlooking the parking lot (because most of the space on the first floor on that side are taken up by the lobby areas and restaurants. But maybe on the "ends" of the resort hallways.

Anyone know???

There are rooms that are close to the quiet pool. I'm not sure how close you can get to Stormalong Bay. I don't know if the noise would bother you or not. We had a room overlooking SAB (5th floor) and we could hear people and music, but it didn't bother us, but another recent poster had a nearby room overlooking SAB and they did not care for the noise when they were trying to rest.

To request a room that is closest to SAB, you would probably request "Close to lobby"- that would be a convenient location, close to lobby/SAB/transporation.

Hope that helps!

Hi everyone well we finally booked, we will be at the Beach Club July 25th - August 4th, I would love it if you could add me to the list!

We are all really excited, can't wait to stay the BC for the first time.

Okie Dokie- I'll put you on the list.

:woohoo:

:welcome:

Do you have an upcoming trip booked?

I gave my thoughts about whether there are SV rooms on the first floor in a response above. I don't know.

You can walk from the patios in some of the rooms (minding NinjaMom's warning about sawgrass) but I don't think there is a way to lock the sliders from the outside when you leave the room.

:goodvibes

Now that Beaches and Cream takes ADR's will it be near impossible to be able to walk up for lunch? DH & I want to have lunch there in October and I'm wondering if I should just make a reservation to be on the safe side...thoughts?

Tables are reservation only so only walk-up is stools at the counter.

Morning Dee! Love your thread!

Thank you for all the valuable info. While I am a WDW veteran (my vacations now exceed 20) I am staying at the Yacht Club for the first time August 24 to 30/14, Im very excited! I'm traveling with my 2 favourite Disney conspirators - my daughter and my grandson :)

I'd love to be added to the Be Our Guest list :)
Thank You!

We will be at the Yacht Club in exactly 13 days !!!!!!!!!!! It is our first stay at the YC and we are super excited!! DF and I are getting married at the YC Gazebo and we absolutely can't wait.

We live in PA and it's been snowing / freezing / polar vortex happenin' here so we can't wait to be in sunny Florida! I hope it'll be warm enough for some swimming at Stormalong bay!!!!!! :dance3:

Funny story. Our preschool son now has decided he does not like princesses, which is funny BC we don't really do them anyway (we assume boys at school must have been discussing that Disney is cool, just not princesses). But he loves Belle (ever since he was picked as beast at etwb) so he and I will have words with anyone who calls her a princess. And I think he is struggling with how to reconcile that he thinks Sofia is nice too.

Thanks for sharing the story. I wonder how he will react to princesses on your next trip. Mom of 2 boys here- Even if you don't seek them out, there is a LOT of princess exposure.

:)

Hi everyone!!!! Long time no chat!!! I have not been on here in over a month and boy have I missed you guys.....

Our December and January have been crazy. I really need a WDW trip to plan but nothing on the books yet.....boooooooo

Santa brought the kids a puppy for Christmas who was great for a week but then starting throwing up. He spent the week going between the vet and the animal emergency hospital (because of the holiday) to the tune of $3500. He had Parvo. Not fun! He is all better now thank goodness. Other than he is a biting machine.:rotfl2: I think he is channeling his inner alligator and might need a trip to the Animal Kingdom!:dance3:

That along with a lot of other crazy stuff with my mom and DHs job has kept me from my happy place.....but I'm back!!:cool1:

So how is everyone?????

:wave2:

Good to see you back here! Sounds like a rough couple of months- hope things are settling down for you. And hope even more that you are able to make a return trip to the World!

:goodvibes

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the "thread keeper." I'm loving all the info I'm getting. I'm so excited for our stay I can hardly contain myself. Once a trip is on the books the anticipation kicks into overdrive. My husband is super jealous that we got CL, he's now considering joining us for a few days. That will require me to book a second room so I told him to make up his mind quickly.

Hope all you Northeaster's are safe and warm this morning. Happy Planning All!

That is so nice to hear!

There are a lot of us involved in making this a fun and informative thread, so on behalf of all of us, you are welcome.

:goodvibes

A dusting Dee? We got 14 inches. This is the 4th snow dump that was over 6 inches since December. Fun dig out today.

So ready for our YC stay. Seems I just see what the rate is for a std room during our stay, and none are available. No sure if that is good or bad. At any rate, since today it was 6 degrees, the very hot summer FLA weather is going to be welcome.

We had less than inch and it was still snowing when I went to bed Tuesday night, but when I woke at 1:00 and looked out, there was no additional accumulation.

Although Boston got 3-5 inches I think and other cities not too far south of us were whalloped!

I knew the boys would NOT be happy. As soon as I get the words "Don't get your hopes up" out of my mouth, my son say "I got my hopes up!"

;)

Guess who just got a pin code email today, and saved $279 for our upcoming POR stay on 1/29? Meeeeeeee :rotfl: :yay: I was booked with Stay,Play,Dine, and pin was free dining!! And that $279 is after the $50 change fee, and $15 admin fee!!

Thanks for the kind words, Cathy!!! You are welcome.

The only backlash is that I can't stay anyplace without trying to photograph and document EVERYTHING. Someone someday might want to know the length of hair dryer cord...

:lmao:

Are you using Disney's Magical Express? If so, as Teena says, an hour is too low of an estimate. If you are driving, an hour is possible.

The BW is about 5-7 minutes from BC/YC. HS is about a 15 minute walk from BW, the boat ride would be about that, but you don't know how long the wait for the next boat will be.

:)

As Teena indicates, non-cash gifts are allowed (including gift certificates). Something that the crew can share is perfect.

Teena- $75 limit?

Now that Beaches and Cream takes ADR's will it be near impossible to be able to walk up for lunch? DH & I want to have lunch there in October and I'm wondering if I should just make a reservation to be on the safe side...thoughts?

I don't think we know the impact for this yet. Maybe make the reservation for October, and as we start to hear reports of the wait times, you can keep or cancel it. I suspect if reservations are now suggested, that the number of people trying for walk-ins will go WAY down.

ETA: Teena posted while I was writing this letting us know that only the counter/bar stools are available for walk-up

:)

Thanks... I think I'll go ahead and make the reservations just to be safe. It's interesting that for as many times as we've been to the BC, we've never tried the burgers....ordered the Kitchen Sink once but never the burgers :upsidedow

DME goes to POR/FQ first, doesn't it? i forgot about that. i have an hour from getting to the DME line to the first picture of my room at POR one year, so i was going off of that.

still, i've padded my timing so i'll at least make it into HS sometime, right?

Deep Dark Secret...

I have never had a meal or ice cream at Beaches & Cream. Only time we have eaten there was during the trial breakfast in July 2009

:duck: as a whole can of whipped cream is thrown at my head!

I'll make the change ;)

We stayed in December, my kids LOVED it! We've been to RPR and PBH twice each, but HRH is where they want to return. I gave them 3 nights...so they best leave my 5 nights BC alone :lmao: Secret entrance, eh???I'm gonna check out your TR, thanks Dee :flower3:
