What is your home resort? We are DVC with WLV as our home. BCV is hard to get into. We are considering buying a smaller contract at BCV since our kids are getting a but older (11 and 8).

Bay Lake is our home resort. I think we will have to look also for a smaller contract at BCV, my children are all grown up but the grandchildren as still little from 17, 8 , 3 and 6 weeks, so Bay Lake is great for them.

So excited! We'll be back to the YC this September. After a few years of trying other resorts, we've decided YC is our absolute favorite. So happy to be going back!!:beach:

Sooooooooooooooooooooo excited!! We will be at BC 11/19-11/27 free dining :cool1: ! Its our first deluxe stay so I am so excited to be at BC!!! Now I just have to learn as much as I can about the resort!!!:thumbsup2

Lou Mongello (who does another podcast/books/tours etc) was doing a live podcast from Hurricane Hannahs, Martha's Vineyard, and a 1 bedroom unit at the BCV last night

It was a hoot. He was drinking Sunken Treasures and getting No Way Jose's.

DD (8) and myself are taking our second Mother/Daughter trip 9/27 - 10/5. We have stayed at Poly and BLT prior. This year I booked BLT but there were no types of discount available. I would have paid the price grudingly but asked DD where she would like to stay. She looked at every resort and kept saying no. Until I pulled up the BC. Immediately she said, "I love it. This is the place for me."... I was stunned. But I booked it with the RO discount.

Someone help me ease my worries on staying off the monorail. And any suggestions to maximze the enjoyment of the BC would be greatly appreciated.

Trish, I understand how you feel. I loved the monorail resorts too. But after a few visits I realized that we were spending the majority of our time away from the Magic Kingdom. That's when I discovered the Epcot resorts.

The big advantage to BC is the close proximity to Epcot. Literally, it can be as close as a 60 second walk if you are the closest end of the BC resort. While you probably won't be visiting Epcot every day, this is wonderful for the evening. Imagine going to a park for rope drop, then coming home mid-afternoon to relax at the hotel, and then hopping into the World Showcase for dinner! The International Gateway is right next to France, and we make good use of this, often having crepes for a snack... yum! It's almost as if the World Showcase restaurants are part of your resort.

Another advantage is the proximity to DHS. You can walk from BC (about 15 minutes) or take an easy boat ride (similar to the boat ride across Echo Lake to MK from the monorail resorts). And this is the kicker: you're close to *two* resorts. At the Contemporary you can walk to MK, but there are no other resorts on property where you can walk to another park, much less two parks, other than the Epcot resorts.

In addition to being close to two resorts, you are close to the Boardwalk, which is a mini-Downtown Disney set of eateries in a themed area. Again, never far from something you need!

And to top it all off, BC/YC has Stormalong Bay, the best pool area of any Disney hotel anywhere. Seriously, it's like its own mini waterpark. It's so good that they check resort ID for everyone who enters to prevent 'pool-hopping'. When we spend the afternoon relaxing at the hotel, it's almost always at Stormalong Bay.

The big negative to BC/YC is getting to the MK. You can take a bus, but we prefer to drive. We like to get to the TTC early and then take a monorail in to the park. It takes a bit longer, but the monorail is part of the fun, so we enjoy it. You just have to plan this into your transportation time. When you factor in how much time you save getting to the other 3 resorts (BC/YC is also much closer to AK than the monorail resorts, especially if you drive, like we do) then it makes up for the extra time put in to get to MK.

Hope that helps!

We stayed at BLT once. Very nostalgic for me as I used to stay at the Contemporary in the 70s-80s so it is very "WDW" to me though many say it isn't Disney enough! I wish they kept the old Food and Fun center where the Wave restaurant is now. As a kid, that was the best arcade ever. You can't beat the monorail running right through the resort...

Having both a MK and Epcot resort points in the same use month seems optimal to me as we usually switch resorts or upgrade to a 1BR every trip.

In May, a guest who will be staying at BC CL at the end of September (9/20 to 9/27) emailed the IPO to ask when the BCR refurb would be taking place. Here is the response received from a Yacht & Beach Concierge Itinerary Planner:

"At this time the Beach Club Lounge will be under refurbishment while you are staying with us. The lounge during that time will be in an alternate location on the 5th floor. Please let us know if there is anything else we may assist you with."

This is my info on the front page!!! I feel like I'm famous! Or at least that I contributed in some small way! It's the little things that make me happy. :)

Glad you liked it! When I was a kid I always wanted to stay at the Contemporary (when we rode through it on the monorail on the way to MK, it seemed like a magic place). And so when I was an adult booking my own trip, we did! While the proximity was great, it wasn't quite as magical as I had anticipated. And as our kids got a little older and we spent less time at the MK (spreading our time more evenly with the other parks) I began to look at the Epcot resorts area. Once we started staying in this area, we never looked back. Now we all vote to stay there (although I have to admit that there is part of me that wants to try the Polynesian, just once). And there's no question that my family insists on BC/YC, because they love Stormalong Bay. They would never consider the Boardwalk, just based on the pool issues alone!

When it boils down to it, while I enjoy the perks of being at a deluxe resort, the number one issue for me is location (although it's clearly second for my family, for whom the pool is of ultimate importance). And there's no question that the Epcot resorts have the best location in The World for all of the parks, except MK. They're not that close to Downtown Disney either, but frankly I much prefer the Boardwalk, with its nighttime entertainment and less crowded feel... not to mention the parking issues at DD are enough to make me pull my hair out! So IMHO BC/YC has everything I want except MK proximity... and I'm not willing to give up everything else for one thing.

You're going to have a great time at BC! You'll love it!

Okay, quick question. I had been thinking of having dinner at The Yachtsman, but an acquaintance said I should look at Monsieur Paul (haven't been there since it was Bistro de Paris). I looked at the menu and it seemed a bit more varied, which is good for my DH, who isn't as much of a steak person as I am. We already have a different ADR at Le Cellier later in the trip, (must have the cheddar cheese soup!) so that's not something I'd be comparing.

So... should I stick with Monsieur Paul or go back to Yachstman? Any opinions from people who have done both?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Beach Club! We just got back from a girls weekend and I absolutely fell in love with this resort! I loved Stormalong bay, I loved the walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, I loved waking up early and going for a run around the boardwalk!
I am SO excited that I will be back this October with my family! 10 days at Beach Club Villas 10/8-10/17

Had a few minutes free to quick let you all know I'm having so much fun with Lily and Jeanne plus working my tail off at the school. Lily loved the Queen Elsa dress that she got when I arrived at the airport Tuesday night. No occasion to wear it yet though. Jeanne posted a video of her getting it on facebook.

I had a great flight and the COPD (which can be troublesome flying) didn't cause me any difficulty at all. It actually seems better out here in the dry weather.

This Mother's Day weekend will be super. We are meeting lots of Jeanne's friends for a country western concert in the park on Saturday, then dinner at a hibachi restaurant with friends. Then Sunday is swim time with another hibachi dinner for Mother's Day. Jeanne's birthday is Wednesday and then home on Thursday.

I don't think I'll have time to check our thread ... it moves too fast so when I get home, please repost anything that you need me to answer. Dee, MickeyT and a few others know as much as I do about the Y&B so I'm sure they are handling everything just fine.

Hope everybody at the Y&B is having a wonderful time and I look forward to seeing you all when I return to work on the 18th.

so, I have caved and convered to an Iphone 5c. I have decided that I just cannot do Disney with the App, and its not available on my faithful Blackberry. Of course, this also means.......photobucket App and the posting of many pictures during our trip. :cool1:

You will love it!!!

I second that! Your post made me so excited! You summed it up so well and DD loves HS. The thought of getting to Epcot that quickly has me rethinking Park Hoppers!!! My sincerest thanks.
