Baler, thank you for your clarification! I was wondering if some of the Main Building Standard Rooms really have King Beds. Now I know that there are :-)

But, what is the difference between the (requestable) Standard King Rooms and the Deluxe King Rooms with the "standard" layout? Is it just the view? Confusing!

There are two standard king rooms in the main building, they are very small. I personally would not want them. The deluxe kings are the 9 on the 2nd floor and the 6 turrets mentioned in the previous posts.

Does anyone know if the villas use pod coffee makers or regular coffee makers?
Plus we're renting points, how do I get more coffee without paying for it?

They have regular coffee makers. You could probably ask housekeeping for an extra coffee packet or two; if you need more than that, you can always bring some from home. Also keep in mind that there is a Nespresso machine in the villas lobby.

The villas use basket type coffee makers. I always brought my own coffee and filters when staying in a villa. I'm not sure that you can get extra coffee without paying for it since you are renting points.

Hi all, I have read these posts a lot over the past 8 months and felt they were very helpful, so I wanted to post a review of our recent stay at Sugarloaf. Although I have stayed at other Disney properties in the past, I had never stayed at the GF or CL, so my review is based on first time impressions of both. We were there for 7 nights the first week of August and had a very positive stay. I would definitely recommend it, although I would add the caveat of knowing that there are nicer lounges (appearance wise) if you are willing to pay more.

First of all, I loved staying at the GF, which was not something I was sure would happen. I stayed at the Polynesian last visit and thought that I had found my favorite resort. I honestly had never anticipated staying at the GF and thought that Beach or Yacht Club would be my next destination, but when the summer discounts came out, the offers on the monorail resorts were much more tempting. I knew the GF would be lovely, but I thought I would walk away feeling that it was a one and done experience. I couldn't have been more incorrect! I was basing my thoughts on previous experiences of being in the main lobby and had no idea how wonderful the atmosphere of the rest of the grounds would be. As compared to the Poly, I liked the openness and the calmness of the grounds. It was classy without being pretentious.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Richard, which felt magical right from the start! I had received a text that my room was ready, so I entered the main lobby and walked up to the bell services desk. When they saw my room number, they took us to a cart and drove us around for a tour of the grounds, then walked us into Sugarloaf and introduced us to the concierge, Tony. He was super nice and made my children feel at home right away.

I was initially disappointed to have been assigned to a dormer room, but since the rest of my family liked it, I decided not to ask for a switch. I ended up really liking the room! The vaulted ceilings gave it a feel that was different from a typical hotel room. I didn't spend as much time on the balcony as I had anticipated, so the closed wall never bothered me. My only complaint would be that the balcony and dormer roof did block the natural light more than I would have liked. I would be perfectly happy to be assigned to a dormer room again. The rest of the room was impeccably clean and well appointed. I thought the shower light was too dim, but that is honestly my only complaint. We got turn down service with chocolates every night, but never got the foot cream. One day our housekeeper put balloons in the room for my kids, which was a sweet touch.

As far as the lounge, as anticipated it was small and had no views, but we still really enjoyed it. We never had trouble finding a table, and with the exception of the man who came in for a beer wearing nothing but a Speedo, found other guests to be respectful. One child piled a plate with about 12 sections of Uncrustables, but they were very quick to replenish it. The food was great and definitely allowed us to have more flexibility in our park touring. We still ate in the parks, but leaving in the morning after breakfast and heading back out in the evening after having appetizers made it less of a priority to find food. We enjoyed having lunch reservations the best, eating our largest meals earlier in the day and snacking both in the lounge and the parks in the evening. They were great about providing us with bottled water when asked, although they never stocked the cooler with it.

I felt spoiled by the whole experience and definitely felt that staying CL took vacation to a new level. I would not hesitate to stay at SL again. Although I have no doubt that a stay in RPC might even be better, SL was a great stay for the amount that we were comfortable paying. I feel it's unfair to directly compare the two when considering the difference in price. For us, SL met all of our needs and made vacation feel special.

:welcome: to (posting on) the DIS, @JLiebCamm. Love reading such a thorough resort review. Just curious, did any SL CM say anything to the man only wearing a Speedo into the lounge?

They seemed to be joking around with him over it while they poured his beer. I couldn't hear the whole conversation, but if I had to guess I would say that they were trying to subtly let him know not to do it again without saying it directly. He seemed to be somewhat of a character.

Are there many Standard King Rooms with TPV? Any floor plans to look at?

Touring Plans has a useful and free Room Finder tool, however, it's not always accurate or complete, but it will usually give you a pretty good idea.

HERE is the link to the GF page. However, there doesn't seem to be an option of Standard non-CL King rooms, other than Main Bldg Kings. Maybe the King Outer Bldg. isn't bookable and is by-request? I seldom (if ever?) find room maps which include non-bookable Kings. I'm sure someone else will be able to answer your question though.

are the queen deluxe rooms pictured concierge??? I would be interested in booking a room like this but I do not need concierge would just like the extra space since we have an infant. also to boook this what number do you call..grand floridian directly or wdw reservations..???

You booked the queen deluxe that I mentioned in previous post with the room number noted. King deluxe main building is a bookable category online. There are 2 types of king deluxe rooms, standard size with theme park view and whirlpool tub. These are the nine rooms you are showing on your diagram.

There are also 6 turret King deluxe rooms that are larger rooms, these have NO balcony and no whirlpool tub. These are on floors 3,4, and 5. Room numbers are 4321,4421,4430,4330,4021 and 4030.

You book the king deluxe but the type you receive is by request only. To make things more confusing: The queen deluxe you booked has two different layouts and styles the layouts are posted below.

Unless you really need the king bed I would stick with the 2 queens as you will have the larger room and a balcony. Option 1 is our favorite style. The furniture placement is different since the refurb, diagrams are older.

All of those rooms are concierge main building.

There are outer building garden deluxe that can be booked. They are slightly larger than a standard but not as large as the approx 700ft rooms in concierge. You should be able to find a photo on the first page of this thread.

A balcony in those rooms is by request only I believe. At least that is the way it is in the SL club building. I don't know much about the outer buildings maybe someone else will come along but I believe less than half of those rooms have balconies so if a balcony is important I would not book that category.

image.jpeg We are in Boca Chica! Love the room. Third floor. Not crazy about pool view (booked garden standard). Will post views from balcony tomorrow, but Wanted to share photo of day bed folded out in case anyone wanted to see how that worked. Our 11-year-old son fits fine. It is like a twin bed. Very pleased so now teen daughter can have the other queen to herself!

Quick question... I'm thinking about doing the Early Morning Magic at MK on a Tuesday, but I saw that the resort monorail doesn't run until 8:30 on Tuesdays. I think I saw that the boats don't run early either. What transportation option would I have to get from GF to MK by 7:45am? Would there be buses?

Same thing happened once to me at YC. Booked GV, requested a gazebo view, and was upgraded to Water (SAB) View, but we disliked the noise and roof view:upsidedow

Open day bed photos are hard to come by on all the resort threads:). Sounds like your vacation is off to a great start!

:welcome: to the DIS, @jedipenguin!

I believe the boats from GF and Poly start running about 30 minutes prior to park opening. All resorts have an early ADR bus that will be operating for you to get to your ADR. Just tell the driver where you're going. Also, the monorail schedule may have changed by the time you're there so check the sign outside the doors to the monorail platform for daily operating hours.
