Happy Friday everyone! Just sharing my excitement that its 140 days until we check in to the GF for our Disney Wedding week, it cannot come soon enough! I can't believe we are finally staying at the GF, it has always been my dream and dreams do come true at WDW :lovestruc

Dispro & VbChristy enjoy your vacays!! pixiedust: And post pics!

Curious, for anyone who's been after Gaspys re opened, does it look any different? I may have missed post about it, work has been crazy busy.

It didn't look any different when I was there. Less options it seemed then last year as far as to go items were concerned.

I have a question about online check-in.

I read somewhere that Disney was planning online check-in so that when you checked in online and then arrive at the resort, you could go directly to your room instead of going to the "online check-in" desk. In the article, it mentioned that this would be in effect as of March 2015 and for all resorts except FW. We are staying at GF in December so was wondering if this plan went through as planned.

As anyone else heard anything about this? Is it in effect and working? Does it work that simply?

Thank you in advance for those that shed light on this.

39 days for me :) DH is already moaning and groaning about the monorail...too bad so sad hunnie we are staying at the Grand, suck it up buttercup LOL. He is SO lucky there's no RPC King room available with the AP rate...(I will keep checking though) VBChristy & Dispro ENJOY!!!

We had that about 30 minutes prior I got a text saying the room wasn't ready. Someone still met us and gave us the info packet and showed us where the building for concierge was. Then when the room was ready we got an alert and were able to go straight there after we got back from the park

We fly in 12/5 @ 9:00 am and I know check in isn't until 3:00 pm. I guess this means that we would receive the text closer to the 3:00 pm or later time. Also, you mentioned that someone met you with the info packet and all. Where was that? In the main lobby or elsewhere?

We checked in at 8:30 am and got the text at 8...you set it for when you are going to arrive. A cast member met us outside and led us inside the main lobby showing us around a bit.

Thanks grannyminnie ..and right back atcha!!! :goodvibes

pas My fellow grand groupie! lol...hey there!!!

I have finally plunged and booked RPC for next March! I've booked a standard RPC room. So what's your favorite standard rooms? View is very important to us, as well as full balcony and daybed/sofa bed. Thanks!

Congrats....You are in for a grand treat!!! :goodvibes Standard RPC rooms can have a view of the courtyard area..rooms numbered 43 or 44 depending on the floor 13..farthest down the first hallway from the lounge...(further away from the lounge down the next segment of the hall are the TPV rooms...) to 43/4418 closest to the lounge....these are standard GF sized rooms..well appointed and lovely..but still the traditional standard size that there is throughout the resort...also appointed a little differently as there are DVD players in the rooms..across the atrium rooms 43/4423 to 43/4428 are slightly larger rooms..with a wet bar( with nice extra storage underneath..) and some with a bit of a different configuration..these over look the beach pool/VGF..and a bit of the Poly..and are also in the RPC standard CL category...also...there is one standard CL room on the 5th floor.. which has mostly suites....4025 if I am not mistaken..this is a dormer style room though..with a smaller enclosed balcony...and the high ceilings....everyone has their favorites...ours are the standard CL rooms that over look the courtyard pool area...YMMV...but no matter what you choose I am sure that you will enjoy..and there is the ambiance of the RPC lounge and the wonderful food and drink offerings and the terrific CMs too...lots of details...lol....HTH :flower3:

When we arrived at 11am our room was ready and other trips earlier some have or have not been ready. Hopefully you'll get a early check in.

Note: they do try to dump undesirable rooms early ( rooms with a bad view etc) so check it out and if not to your liking go back and nicely ask for a different room.

Thanks everyone, we are excited! I still haven't packed one thing. Ha ha. At least the laundry is done- now just to fold and pack. :) Sooooo excited!!

Good tip about room choice @trishadono

Need some advice!! DH can't fly down with us now on October 6th because the CEO from Switzerland will be here on the 6th and 7th:( Since the girls and I don't get in until 11:40ish, I'm wondering if we should stay at the Marriott at the airport or if we should stay at All Star Movies and use magical express?? The AP discount makes ASM only $83 for that night, but I'm wondering if ME would make our hotel arrival time around 1:30am or something?? I'm also a bit concerned about staying at ASM...are the beds awful? Marriott has a free shuttle so we could get a rental car the next morning...FYI, I like my sleep;) Has anyone ever done anything similar? Normally, DH would pick up the rental car and drive us to a marriott close to Disney to sleep before an early morning GF check-in, but this is throwing everything off! I can't drive that late at night...I get sleepy! DD17 could do it if the car rental place would let her. Any suggestions?

I'd stay at the Marriott and get a good night sleep then just do the rental car in the morning. There's a car place not very far from the hotel if you need to return it.
