I just got back from my Florida vacation and out of an fun and exciting trip, I've got to say that the Beach Club was a highlight!!!

I took a few pictures--my happy family was making themselves right at home--but I'm not sure how to post them. I'll have to try to figure it out later when I don't have to get ready for work. (Work? Huh? Unfamiliar concept...) I'll also have to share the story of how Neil at the concierge desk saved my butt!!!

*snip*

Thanks so much for letting us know about your trip. What an awesome upgrade!!!

:goodvibes:

There are some instructions in the "Other Useful Info" Post 14, on Page 1 of this thread about posting pictures using an outside host like Photobucket and then posting the links to the photos. You can also direct link photos using the Upload a File button when you are making a reply here. The only catches are that the files must be less than 1 MB in size (you can resize your pictures in Paint or another editor) and you are limited to 10 pictures per post.

Gheesh - I wish I was staying from May 27 to June 28!!! It's really May 27 to June 2 - wishful thinking...

Got it!

:)

This was in my email this morning from the DIS:

"The Walt Disney World resorts have installed high-tech washers and dryers. Guests will be able to check a website to find out if there are open machines in the laundry facilities, as well as receive a notice when one becomes free and when a laundry cycle has finished. Cycles in these machines are shorter than the old machines, and also hold larger items than in the past.

Credit and debit cards can be used for transactions. There are a few coin machines left in some of the facilities at the All-Star Resorts, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs, Fort Wilderness, Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Pop Century.

The changeover will be complete in early May."

If the hyperlink doesn't work, the site was laundryview.com/disneyworld....

Thanks for posting this!

:thumbsup2

"Peer" pressure!

What did I win??

How about a girls only trip with 3 of the best roomies you could imagine???

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Soooo, I got my hands on the 2016/17 provisional school holidays. WT?..... We don't go back until 5 September!!!!!! I'M waiting on my TA to get me a new price, we may be arriving a few days later. Trying not to cry however as we could have flown from our local airport but are now tied into Virgin Atlantic. To much ££ to be lost doing a total change.

UGH!!!

WOW,thanks Katesdad!!!!!! Thats alot of great info that you gave me:worship:

So, I can request a Courtyard or Gazebo view with a Garden/Woods view booking? Who knew???
Do you think adding either of them would diminish our chances of a near the lobby room though?
And if not, which one of the two views would you suggest more? :flower1:

::yes::

Sorry about this because I am sure it has been asked and answered but I can't find it. We are staying at the yacht club and have the dining plan. I want to get our refillable mugs on first day but didn't want to walk all the way over to BC. Is there somewhere to purchase the mugs. We probably don't need to fill until the morning

Thanks everyone!

I am almost positive you can get the refillable mugs at the Ale & Compass in the Yacht Club, but I don't know if that is just in the morning, while the lounge is serving breakfast items.

Anyone know the real answer?

The mugs will either be on a shelf behind the bar or under the counter. They just have to ask the bartender for them. :) There might be limited color choices, though.

Are all rooms expected to be refurbished by fall? My stay will be Sept 16-26. I would love an updated room but I'm hoping I don't have to use a room request to get one.

“What kind of coffee makers are in the Beach Club rooms?”

:coffee:

That was my first post here on the FAQ board, in the spring of 2009, in advance of my family’s first trip to the resort.

I had corresponded with Teena a few times on the board before our trip, and she was there to greet us as we entered into the lobby for the first time. Hugs were exchanged amidst confused looks from my family, and a beautiful friendship was born.

After my second trip to the Beach Club in 2010, a new thread was started by the moderators after it reached jumbo status. But nobody was actively maintaining the thread- I think it was just two or three posts long at the time, and a lot of the pictures were from accounts that had expired so there were just blanks.

“I have pictures, I could use the info that is there add some pictures of mine and I’m sure others will help, too!”

And so, over the past 4 years or so, I have been the caretaker of this spot. I have had so much help over the years- whenever I need information, or a picture or have another request, people have volunteered to help out. This FAQ has grown from just a couple of posts to a first page with 20 posts of detailed information and photos where you can find out all about resort.

I thoroughly enjoy sharing everyone’s excitement about upcoming trips and reading reviews and comments from guests who have returned.

I have made many very real friendships with people I have finally met, and people I have yet to meet. I am extremely proud of the atmosphere fostered here on the thread- we are friendly, we are funny, we are helpful! We celebrate each other’s triumphs and sympathize when someone needs a boost. Discussions are amazingly polite here, especially when you see some of the discussions elsewhere on the DIS, with just one exception. Do not attempt to hurt a member of our family here, because we have each other’s backs!

Visiting the “virtual” Beach and Yacht Club every day has helped me deal with many difficult situations and for that, I am forever grateful!

My 13,000th post is appropriately here, and is meant to be a tribute to all of the wonderful people who have come into my life through this board.

Thank you!

Well, the answer today is different than it was then. I may go back and see who actually responded at the time.

The coffee makers in the regular Beach Club rooms were formerly the 4 cup Mr. Coffee type (filter) machines. Now, as you will find in the FAQ on Page 1 (with pictures), it is a Cuisinart pod set up.

:)

We don't know yet. With construction work, it is always tricky to predict an end date. Chances are decent they will be done by September, so my advice is not to add the request for a refurbished room at this time. In August, once we have a better feel for how close the work is to completion, then you have plenty of time to decide if you are going to change your room requests to add that.

:thumbsup2

So I was watching this youtube video to get in the BC mood (like I need any help), and, um, is that who I think it is at 45 seconds in?

Ugh hate it when things change and you've already booked! Will you lose days from your trip or is it possible to soften the blow by gaining an extra night? Crossing my fingers for you that you get sorted :)

Congratulations Dee on going over the 13,000 mark without having to start up a new thread. We really can't thank you enough for all the hard work you put in to keep this board up to date and informative as it is. Hope you are finding really neat stuff in the attic. Hope all is going well with the planning for those 130 crazed high-school teenagers you will be leading to Mickey's land.

I consider the last room I had a "courtyard" view which was overlooking the back entrance to the YC. It was great and very close to the elevators which take you to the lobby quickly. The room was also just down the hall from one of the secret entrances that takes you out to the gazebo area where you are only steps away from the dock. Across the hall from this room would be a gazebo view. I also had a gazebo view room which was just a little further walk from the lobby but just as close to a secret entrance that we used most of the time which took us to the boat dock or we just kept going straight and we were on our way to Epcot. If you look at the map of the resort (page one of the thread) you can see the area I am talking about. I think either is just as nice but "gazebo view" would be what I have put on my requests. Just make sure you don't do on-line check in and when you are at the desk, be sure to find out where the room hey are putting you in is at (as well as which side of the hall which was my mistake the last time) and if it isn't what you want, ask if something would be opening up in the area you are interested in and tell them you don't mind waiting for it.

Thanks!

Of course, the two things I wanted to happen to start the new thread were either the 13,000 post mark or the beginning of May, which happened to coincide. My OCD (I put the "Dee" in OCD) really would have rejoiced if I could pull that off. But between my dad, work, the school book fair this week, managing the upcoming Disney trip and other things I am dealing with in my life, I am about one straw away from needing to take my camel to the chiropractor.

Again, this thread is really a welcome escape for me!!!

Speaking of the upcoming Disney trip. I don't think I will be able to book FP until the 30 day mark, which will be on Sunday May 10 (Mothers' Day). MK closes at 2 am on Saturday May 9. What time can I start booking FP? Midnight? 1 am? 2 am? I am thinking it is 2 am after MK closes, but would appreciate confirmation from someone who knows.

Thanks!!!

Dee - Thanks for bringing the capital ocD to this thread. We all love you for it. All of the friends you've made over the years are fortunate to know you.

You have no idea how jealous I am about this. It's like you're organizing an adult sleep-over. But you get a round of Sunken Treasures instead of muttering Bloody Mary into the mirror. Or maybe you do both...

And I'm totally with Tarak on this one. We need a support group for those of us who are jealous of the upcoming adult sleep-over!

We will hopefully just move the holiday forward (or is that back????) 3 days. This means we can be in Disney for a couple of really quiet days in September.
