So excited! We have just booked to stay for 2 weeks at the BC in a garden view room from 30th April 15!! :dance3: It will also be my birthday on our first full day! We have wanted to stay here for so long but it has always worked out a little pricey for us, though we have booked a trip here once 3 years so nearly got to go there, but then had to cancel because of a house move. When we are at WDW we always come here for drinks, and meals, and dream about staying there and being able to walk in and out of EPCOT. We love the whole boardwalk vibe. So, a decent price came up (only £100 more than the WL for the 14 nights) and we decided to splurge!

We really want a full balcony so I am sending that wish up to the Blue Fairy so she can get working on it until it is time to send my room request in ;) :wizard:

Have read the first few posts of this thread...now I am off to read the rest :goodvibes

So, this was me posting on Sunday. Boy, was my bubble burst quickly! DH and I got all excited planning the holiday we have always wanted at Disney, walking into EPCOT etc. Then the next day when i was grocery shopping I got a call from the travel agent, who told me very sheepishly that the room at the BC was not available after all. Of course, this was after she had already taken our deposit the previous day!

On the drive home I remembered an email quote I had on the Saturday from another agent who could find us a garden view room in the YC for £200 more than our BC quote, albeit starting our holiday a day earlier than we would have liked. I contacted him and asked if he could match the BC quote. he couldn't, but with a change of flight to a different airline he got us a quote that was only £40 more than our original BC one. So we decided to just go for it! So booked, and cancelled, and rebooked all in 24 hours! Let's hope the rest of our planning goes more smoothly ::yes::

I was totally in a BC frame of mind, and now I have to switch to a YC frame of mind, but I am sure that won't take too long ;) One plus point for us is that just about all of the rooms have a full balcony, and that is one of the only things that is quite important to us, so we can more or less relax over that one as a room request :) We aren't bothered about distances from the lobby or the exit or anything like that, so hopefully we will just get a nice view :)

So, please add me to your BOG list for 29 April to 13 May! :dance3:

Have you tried this. We used it last trip and walked right in. It allows you to order your meal when you make your Fastpass (it does NOT affect your regular FP). Otherwise you walk in, order and be seated.

Well, I harrased the TA I used for this trip and got her to do some work. She came up with that 12-digit number that she swore didn't exist. Her explanation was that this was something "new" Disney was doing and I was the first person to ask anyone at the travel agency for this information. We need to get her reading this thread so she can keep up to date on all that is happening in the World.

Bottom line, the BOG restaurant is still not available for us. We'll keep looking as we have on a daily basis. Someone always cancels, don't they?

Sorry I have been absent for the last few days. Had some family drama.

My dear dad, who is generally of pretty sound mind and body for his 81 years, thought it was a good idea to participate in a 5K Walk-a-thon for the cancer center at the local hospital in 85 degree heat on Sunday. Well, he passed out and lost consciousness and ended up with an overnight stay in the very hospital he was walking for.

Thankfully, lots of nurses were around him when it happened. After a battery of tests, no medical issues were found and the diagnosis was fainting, probably due to dehydration.

Fortunately, nothing was broken, but his face and hands are full of some pretty nasty abrasions.

I'm planning a big 40th Birthday celebration for myself, family and friends next September at WDW. I've always wanted to stay at BC/YC. I'm leaning toward renting DVC points for a 2-bedroom BCV.

I know the schedule isn't available for renovations, but I'm wondering if the BCV's will be renovated by this time next year? I love the resort feel, and the location can't be beat for Food & Wine Festival. If BCV's are under construction, my 2nd choice would be BLT, since they sleep 9 people and have 3 full baths, and are so close to MK and EPCOT.

I'm so curious, too, as to what the renovations will look like! Do you all think they'll be drastically different? Structurally, they can't do much different, so I'm sure they will still sleep 8 and will have only 2 full baths.

Thanks for the help!

Bumping this up.

I don't really know much about the villas, but there are some others here who are better informed. I believe the villas will be undergoing refurbishment sometime in the coming year (not sure when). I don't think the scope will be quite to the extent of the work that will happening at the BC (and eventually YC), it may be a replacement of soft goods throughout the resort. But again, others may have better information.

Please let us know if you book for September.

:thumbsup2

Beach Club reservation for 9/2/15 - 9/6/15! This will be a no kids trip for DH and I to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We have only been to the World twice and stayed at value resorts both times.

This is just a quick trip but I'm really looking forward to trying a deluxe resort! We got what seems like a great deal so even though it's still expensive we are going to splurge :)

Now I'm going to read this entire thread :)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

A kid-free trip sounds like a great way to celebrate your anniversary!

Please let us know if you have any questions.

:cool1:

We are checking in on Saturday, Nov. 7. Our plans are to check in, and then return our rental car to the WDW Dolphin hotel and walk back to the Beach Club. About how long should we expect our walk to be? Just want to be prepared!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

I'm glad others have chimed in with info about the trip to Dolphin. I have never been there.

:)

Doing the happy dance. Just booked for a June 2015 trip. Ended up at the Poly during our last trip and enjoyed it but ready for a trip "home". Add me to the June list. We're ready!

:welcome: back!!!!

BC? I'll add you to the list.

:cheer2:

We moved to BC this morning after a one night room only at POR- Royal Room. We saw Teena working and stopped to say hello. She was just as gracious and nice as she could be! She helped make sure we got a great room: 2629, full balcony and day bed and near the lobby. Pretty view as well. We are pleased as punch! This evening, we head to EPCOT for a few rides and Food and Wine.

Thanks for checking in. Hope you are enjoying your stay. Sounds like a great start.

:thumbsup2

Getting ready to book 13 nights at BC for smmer 2015!!!! So excited.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

:welcome:

Which month for your trip?

Ahem... Dee?

Could you add us to the BOG List?

Wheeee!

We've booked a trip for next August.
We're going to roll the dice that the Polynesian will at least be mostly completed, and we're going to have our first stay there from 8/14-8/19, and then we'll be moving "home" to the Epcot Resort Loop and putting in 5 nights at BC! We'll be there from 8/19-8/24. :beach:

Time to start planning!
I promise I'll get back to being active here, and I'll do a quick review of our August trip in the near future, but here's a preview...
BC: B
YC-CL: A+
GF: A
BC/YC DisMeetup: A+++
(Not much to complain about, eh?)

:welcome: back!

That's exciting news!!!

Thrilled to add you back to the list.

Thanks for you mini review.

I agree- the meet was EPIC!

Hi,

Been lurking on the thread for a while now and was wondering if there is any news on the BC refurb? We are anxiously waiting our turn to have a wonderful trip and it starts in less than 10 days. Just wondering if the lounge was completed and if they were working on the rooms yet? We are staying at CL and have never done there before on our previous visits. We love it there and can't wait to go back.

Thanks,
Lisa

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for October.

I think others have answered- BC CL lounge was opened yesterday. Work on rooms has not been started yet, maybe the next week or so.

:thumbsup2

Can you please add us to the list? BC Aug 21-28th. Thanks so much for this thread! This is our second WDW vacation, first time at a deluxe :)

:welcome:

Sure will!

Please let us know if you have any questions. Look forward to seeing you around as you anticipate your vacation.

:goodvibes

I'm here at Beach Club now and having a wonderful time (in spite of the rain!). We didn't get either of our room requests (king, close to Epcot) but we have a huge room with full balcony and it's very convenient to the elevator, lobby and Marketplace. I'm glad for the quiet and lovely courtyard view although we don't spend much time at the resort. I'm also surprised at the crowds. So many people at MK today for what Touring Plans gave a 3! Pirates was closed and we weren't able to get a FP for 7DMT yet. I'm thinking I'm not a fan of FP plus. I love to plan but would prefer to keep it loose and spontaneous. There was a couple hours of rain on and off. We, of course, left our ponchos behind. : ( But, a rainy day on Main Street is better than a sunny day anywhere, imo. The CMs here at BC are wonderful, especially at Cape May. We've not gotten a chance to explore too much. Planning on doing that tomorrow but, so far, my first BC stay is a hit! Looking forward to less rain tomorrow, HS, Air Supply and Chefs de France!

Would you mind sharing your room#? I have had luck in the past when I put specific room requests on our reservation and your room sounds like what we would be looking for. Is your room considered garden view? Standard?

Thanks and enjoy your vacation... I agree that a rainy day at disney is still better than sun anywhere else!

We are thrilled to be joining in this thread. I was just at The World from 9/17-9/22 and was able to take advantage of the bounce back offer for free dining for next year.

It has been a dream of DH's to stay at either the YC, BC, or Boardwalk; we've never been able to budget for a deluxe, but figuring this will probably be our last trip in September, due to our oldest DD starting high school in 2016, we decided "why not?!" :cool1:. After researching a lot of information, we decided that the YC was the place we most wanted to try. So, my family of 4 has booked a garden view room at the YC from 9/12/15 - 9/20/15. My girls can't wait to get into SAB... we have walked by it so many times and wondered how much fun we would have.

I honestly don't care what room we end up in. Since we've never stayed here before, it will be so fun to explore the resort and see what it all has to offer.

Thanks to everyone for all of the information posted so far on the page... it has helped a lot! :)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Love the excitement in your post!

:cool1:

Why is it so hard to get back to normal after a Disney trip? :faint:

We stopped in the Beach Club lobby on Sunday morning and had a great visit with Teena. It is always so much fun talking to her. :goodvibes

I will post room view pictures and a few things about the room we had at the YC later. All in all the trip was really nice. We did a lot of new things, including two afternoons at SAB, most of the time in the lazy river. Believe it or not, my DH had never spent much time at SAB. He preferred the quiet pool or just a nap, instead. He said that he wished he hadn't avoided it all those years. ;) The pool was not crowded at all while we were there, which I think made a big difference.

Thank you so much for taking us along with you during your trip and all of your excellent research!

:goodvibes

My first time being able to get on the boards since our trip Sept 13 through Sept 30th. We really enjoyed our stay at Beach Club. I think what I loved most was being able to walk to Epcot in about 5 minutes. This was so nice! We also opted to walk to Hollywood Studios, which turned out to be a nice quiet family walk. Took about 15 minutes and it was just us walking the path. It was a nice relaxing start to a long, but fun day. So if you have the time in the morning to walk to HS I say go for it!

I hope everyone else enjoyed their stay as much as we did. It was hard getting back into things once we got home. I always have a case of the Disney Blues, but already looking at dates for next years trip so that gives us something to look forward to.

:beach:

Thank you for letting us know about your stay. Glad you had a fantastic time!

:)

45 days until we check in at the Yacht Club, so excited!! I am sorry if I missed it in the thread but I remember hearing about the possibility of being able to skip the check in desk altogether when doing online check in. Is that being done at all at YC?

Bumping- Not Sure

:scratchin

My apologies - I'm very late joining this thread - is there a refurb to the BC rooms? And if so - does anyone know when they're due to be done? Thx

:welcome:

Do you have a trip booked or are you in the planning stages. As others have posted we don't really know when the work will be finished- all info we have is in the first post of this thread.

:)

Just got my quote for a week at the BC or Poly from 8/16-8/23. Wow, but is that tempting. My oldest doesn't want to stay at the Poly, CL or not. and it's twice the cost of the BC. I have no idea whether I could talk my husband into going in August or not. But I'd love to take advantage of the deal. And the prospect of another dis meet? Pretty tempting.

Looking for a devil smilie, but I'll have to settle for popcorn::

26 days to go. Made my BOG fastpass for lunch on day two and arranged my cars to and from airport both at home and in Orlando.

Always fun to make preparations for an upcoming trip!

:woohoo:

Hi guys!

Haven't been able to post much lately (thanks to travel fall ball!) but I'm weighing our options for our summer vacation. I booked at BB when we were there in August, but debating whether to switch to a "magical" room only in August. Of course there is some talk in our house of doing the Universal/Discovery Cove/Hilton Head trip instead this summer or even waiting until late September and doing the MNSSHP and F&W. I can switch our BB to those dates but I have a hard time asking for a week off from work when I'm off all summer!

Anyhow - just wanted to say how much I enjoyed our "Super" Dis Meet this year.

Teena - can't wait to hear all about the new CL lounge!

:wave2:

Thanks for popping in!

:goodvibes

So, we got back yesterday from a 6 night/7 day stay at the BC, GV room.

*snip*

The Beach Club was fabulous yet again.

If I could, I'd make a return trip each and every time, despite the fact that I eventually want to be able to make the claim of staying at each and every resort. ;)

AskSiri

Thanks for your very detailed review! We appreciate hearing all about it. Would it be okay if I posted a link to this post on our trip report/review page?

:)

We are going to be at BC in December!! So excited about our Disney Christmas!!

We are a family of 4 and this is our third visit to WDW (POFQ IN 2009 & POR in 2012). We are going deluxe and are very excited about being walking distance to Epcot for evening strolls!

My Big question (for now) ... Room request? We are in a standard room & I know we should request a full balcony. In the past I have had great luck in requesting specific rooms and with that in mind I would like to add a few rooms to our request list and I would appreciate input. So please if you have experience in standard rooms I would love to know! We like to be central and I don't want to be too far from the bus stop or main building...

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

The Beach Club is almost always fully booked or close to it. We generally advise requesting what you are looking for in words, not specific room numbers because the likelihood that someone will be checking out from that room on the exact day of your stay, and that it will be unassigned for the whole time of your stay, is pretty unlikely.

If the room(s) you are requesting are not available, the room assigner won't necessarily know what attributes you are looking for a room when trying to place you elsewhere.

Your best bet is probably to request "Full balcony please. Close to lobby, if possible" A location near the lobby will be close to transportation, the Beach Club Marketplace and Stormalong Bay.

Here now for the first time and we love it! My new favorite DVC property!!!! Perfect for F&W!!!!

Thanks for popping in and letting us know you are happy!

So Excited! we were originally booked for the ToT 10 miler weekend at WL and our plans have changed a little. DD and I are going to 1D concert Fri night and then we were going to drive over afterwards and meet up with DH and the boys... but My DS found out last Fri he is on homecoming court, so... we dropped Fri night and we were lucky enough to switch to a YC CL room that became available! This will be our first YC stay, we loooovvvveeee BC and are thrilled to have the chance to check out YC! Anyone else running Sat night?

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Good luck in the run!

Sorry about the :headache: involved in your booking. Glad you are all set now!

I'll add you to the list.

:cool1:

Dee sorry to hear about your dad. Glad it is nothing serious.

Thanks!

My dad is really an incredible guy. His sense of humor has remained intact through this whole ordeal, including asking the very nice technician doing the ultrasound of his heart if he was pregnant.

:lmao:

Katesdad

You are probably too early to book the BOG lunch fastpass. The dates don't usually open up sooner than about 30 days ahead of time. I just received the email invitation to lunch for our Oct 22nd trip, about 24 days before our trip date. :)

I'm planning a big 40th Birthday celebration for myself, family and friends next September at WDW. I've always wanted to stay at BC/YC. I'm leaning toward renting DVC points for a 2-bedroom BCV.

I know that when they rehabbed the villas at the Wilderness Lodge they added a Murphy bed to the studio. It is one of those beds that fold out from under the cabinet that the television sits on. That room will now sleep 5 people instead of four. They've put those beds in the villas at the Grand Floridian, too. I don't know if they plan to add them to the rooms at the BCV's, though. We'll have to keep watching for updates. :)

45 days until we check in at the Yacht Club, so excited!! I am sorry if I missed it in the thread but I remember hearing about the possibility of being able to skip the check in desk altogether when doing online check in. Is that being done at all at YC?
We checked in to the YC on Sept 24th and we didn't have to go to the check in desk, but we did have a CM check us in while we sat on a couch in the lobby. She brought our resort information out to us and checked my photo ID. I think we would have been taken to the check in desk if there was an opening, but all the CM's behind the desk were busy. It only took 5 -10 minutes to check in, though.

Just made a reservation for Yacht Club Feb 18-24, 2015. Just my husband and I (kids staying home with Grammy) - first adult only trip in years!

I will be attending a 3 day conference at the YC and will be participating in the Princess Half Marathon Weekend (running the 5K, the 10K and the half marathon). Nothing like killing yourself on a trip to Disney :rotfl2:

We have never stayed at any of the Epcot resorts before and we are looking forward to it!

Have any of the YC rooms been or are being refurbished?

Thanks!

The way it is set up, pictures won't do it justice. There is no way to get the actual feel of it thru pictures. It is by far the nicest of all the CL lounges on property in my personal opinion. I was absolutely shocked ... it is so much nicer than I had ever anticipated. Because they took out two rooms, with pictures, you won't be able to see the different areas all together.

You all need to book a CL trip to see it!!! Another Dis Meet perhaps?
That sounds like a wonderful idea Teena :thumbsup2

Keep trying I was one of those people who cancelled a BOG reservation the day before (the men in my life didn't fancy it:sad:) so it definitely happens. Wishing you luck pixiedust:

Dee - sorry to hear that your dad hit a little "bump in the road," but glad to hear he's doing well. I think most of us, at one time or another, underestimate the risk of dehydration during extreme heat. It's a good reminder for all of us "running around" at the parks during the summer to stay hydrated!

Good to have you back!

Dee - I'm so glad your dad is okay. He sounds like a riot!

I'm trying to figure out what the biggest challenge will be - convincing my husband to go in August or convincing him to stay anywhere besides the AKL. We usually go as a family in January when there's virtually no chance it will be 95. We were considering a trip the week after Thanksgiving and possibly bringing my in-laws. Bringing them might involve bringing my SIL, which I honestly couldn't handle without sedation.

Maybe I can make it a tradition that I take my older kids in August. :goodvibes

Like Wood Nymph said, this is done separate of ADR's. Check around the 30 day mark and you'll be set for lunch!

Fortunately, nothing was broken, but his face and hands are full of some pretty nasty abrasions.

We are leaving for the Beach Club on Saturday and I can't wait!!! So far it looks like we will be getting there just as the rain is leaving - thank god!! I have officially mentally checked out of work and have become completely useless. I feel bad but I just can't get myself to do anything except think about this trip! My last detail is waiting for the activities schedule so I can plan what night to watch the movie. Saturday can't come fast enough!! Teena, hoping to stop and say hi on Sunday or Monday - you are working right?

I have a chance of getting a great rate on a standard room at the Beach Club and wanted to know are there any standard rooms on the first floor ? Where are most of the standard rooms located ? Thanks for any help :)

The YC rooms are scheduled to be refurbed after the BC rooms. BC is underway and, based on reading here, YC should begin sometime next year. So, you're likely to get the rooms shortly before they are refurbed. We're staying around the same time!

Dee- glad your dad is ok. Dehydration is tough. I am so cautious while coaching when its hot out.

Stormalong Bay...was so much fun,

~SNIP~

I finally braved the slide this year at the kidlet's urging. ;) Not having ridden it before, I wasn't aware of just how long it really was. By the time the end finally came, I'd given up and let's just say I didn't close my mouth fast enough. This happened late at night, so hopefully no one else was witness to my embarrassment, lol.

~*~

Based on just this alone you sound like the PERFECT candidate for the Stormalong Bay Synchronized Pool Tube Team! :thumbsup2

Some people would think of your wipe out as an awkward travesty but we here on the team KNOW talent when we spot it. We realize that your near drowning on the pool slide is a manifestation of your artistic aquatic aesthetic. The next time you find yourself in a pool AND in an unfortunate situation just realize that you can use that experience to fluff up your pool tube routine!
