Where were you yesterday afternoon during our evacuation? We were expecting and hoping for a little entertainment. You are slacking....

I am sorry to say that I let Ninja Mom out of my sight and she was in the vicinity during the latest fire evacuation. She had dinner last night at the Yachtsman Steakhouse which was near the scene of the conniptions . I will try to keep a better eye on her but no promises. I hear she is planning on making a run for it and going to the Captain's Grille on wed night at 5pm. Listen for any alarms or code reds then. :rolleyes2

Please keep Ninja Mom away from the YC this weekend! I am not a fan of fire evacuations. Come to think of it.. was she on the Disney Wonder at 2am on July 24, 2008???

i am not sure how they calculate it, but if you really want to try it, I would book now. Each time I have decided to upgrade at check in, the price was pretty close to what I had seen online, but they didn't have anything available. I cancelled my DDP in July and upgraded because, I rarely really use it on such a short trip and CL was WAYYYY more fun than dining plan!

I think I'll book the cheaper Savannah view rooms now and if a nice deal comes out, contact the TA to see what we can do for CL. I got a pin code for the first time ever yesterday. I called to get a quote for the room and two CL rooms were only about a thousand over the regular Savannah view rooms. I would spring for that. But the difference between the TA rate I'm getting and CL is pretty huge. Rack rate for regular SV rooms is roughly $6800. The rate I have now is $4200. CL rack rate would be $8300. I could live with the $1500, because it usually works well for our family (although I admit, we didn't get as much use out of CL this last trip). But four grand-ish is more than I can do. As much as I adore CL at AKL. Is Wayne still there in the lounge? He is the best!

I knew NM was behind the incident in August. Don't let that woman near the fire alarms...

Can anyone give me an idea what time Storm Along Bay opens and closes? We will be arriving on 11/14 if that makes a difference? Thanks! :)

Hi Rootskate,
We just returned from YC, and SAB was open from 9:00-11:00. It was getting brisk at night, and pretty cleared out by 9:00. I'm not sure how the hours change as the temperature gets cooler.
Enjoy a Wonderful Vacation.

ah..see, it is about $100/day more for me and I think in February, I am paying $88 more for Club Level at the Grand Floridian...TOTALLY WORTH EVERY PENNY!

We could get a fabulous deal for Poly CL at the same time next year. I tried to talk my oldest into it, but she has no desire to go back to the Poly. If it were that important to me, we'd be staying at the Poly. But, for once, my child is voting for the less expensive option, so I jumped at it. Those moments are rare...

So here's my silly question for the day. Well, the first one. When we arrive at the resort, I was thinking of asking whether we could upgrade to CL. Not asking for a freebie - I'd expect to pay the difference. But how do they calculate the cost to upgrade? Is it the difference between the standard room rate and the CL rate? Or do they take into account the discount you paid when making that Magical Vacation resort reservation? I guess in a way, I'm wondering if they price bridge for the upgrade at the resorts the way they do park tickets. Just browsing the difference between standard and CL, I'd totally swing that. But the room rate I'm paying is a huge discount, so I wouldn't want to lose that discount for CL.

About to pull the trigger on a late November trip to the AKL. I can book two rooms (supposedly guaranteed to connect because the adults are outnumbered by the kids) for just about the same price as renting DVC points for a 2 BR villa. I'll have to weigh the pros and cons. The room in those suites will spoil ya. And I prefer Kidani Village to Jambo House. But once those points are rented, they're rented. And while I can get trip insurance, I've never had to use it. Would prefer to just be able to get my $200 back with no penalty.

Tara...if the Magical deal includes a CL rate and there's availability, you may be able to upgrade at arrival (know ahead of time what that rate is). BUT, if they don't have a magical deal for a CL room, you will not be able to upgrade your room at all. This happened to us, this past August when we booked a garden vw room with the magical deal at GF. Upon checking in, we asked if we could upgrade to a Theme Park view and would pay the difference but were told that deal was not upgradeable.

Hi everyone!

We are going to put in a reservation form in a couple of days to rent points for BCV next Fall and I know a refurb will be going on for the rooms at Beach Club Resort, but has anyone heard anything about the pool?

I looked at the first page and didn't see anything. I know it is updated when info comes in, I was just curious if anyone heard anything. Someone said something to me about the pool possibly being part of the refurb and hopefully it won't be dug up like the Wilderness Lodge pool. I doubt they would do that to Storm Along Bay, but the thought is there now. :worried:

My heart is set on the Beach Club, so I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance that they won't be digging the pool up anytime soon.

Ah. Our Magical deal only had CL availability at the Poly. So I will consider our room not upgradeable. Totally cool. I can buy a lot of Sunken Treasures for that kind of money...

Or I can put that money towards this puppy. I'd have to drive to California, but there have to be dis folks I could pick up along the way, right?

I asked my TA to let me know if CL becomes available at the BC for this deal. She said it became available last year and she's hoping they do again this year. She said if it does she would let me know ASAP. Maybe ask your agent to be on the lookout.

That puppy is an excellent idea. I'll meet you at the border!

Hi. I'm staying at Pop Century but I would like to know if any of the renovations at the Beach Club are going to affect me. Could I possibly hear any of the noise from this construction as I am a VERY light sleeper. We are talking REALLY light sleeper...

Also I was wondering if the quick service options at the entire Epcot resort area could possibly compare with the superior options of a 'food court' at Pop.

Finally, are there shower facilities like the FABULOUS ones you find at many Disney VALUE resorts for my "after check out/before the airport" dip in the pool? I hear the "Hippy Dippy Pool" has those showering daisy's but I'm looking for a little something more modest. The Beach/Yacht club has something that will help me clean up my act while covering my keister... correct?

~NM

I certainly hope the renovations don't disturb your sleep. Would be terrible to be sleeping soundly and be awaken in the middle of the night while on vacation!

Also, I have heard about the fabulous showers at the Pop. Wow! You are so fortunate to have a shower for guest use in the locker room / pool area.

Dee -I so badly would like you to add us to the Be Our Guest list for our December anniversary trip. I have kept trying, but no rooms are available at YC or BC for December 6-10. Just paid the balance for our stay at GF. :) Yes, I like it there, yes, it is a beautiful resort, just thought we would like to be "home" for our anniversary.

Teena - we will certainly stop by in December to say hello! :goodvibes

i might be a tad obsessed about this. I've been haunting the Samba and Old Bug looking for a nice VW van. I'll try to call it inspiration because I can't really justify buying one unless I have cash on hand...

mi*vida*loca, I'll make sure to mention it to her. She's already mentioned that if any offer becomes available, she'll let me know (or just apply it if it's for the same category room I already have). I think I emailed them last year about the deal they had and I remember CL being available at BC. At the time, the deal I had with the bounceback was better because my mom could get the military salute tickets.

We have not heard anything about a pool rehab being part of this renovation.

Normal pool maintenance at Stormalong Bay happens in the winter, with 1/3 of the pool worked on at a time, with the remaining 2/3 remaining open.

This is done almost every year, but I don't remember anyone discussing maintenance on the pool last winter.

We are still going to put in a request for BCV. It's a beautiful resort and I've always wanted to stay there. Plus, everyone in the traveling party loves Epcot. Now I just have to wait 11 months :rotfl:
