We've enjoyed staying at the YC several times, and today I just read about the Secret Entrance...never knew about it before, but I think I can find it next time I'm there. For those of you who have used it, when did you use it? When did it come in handy to know about and use the secret entrance? I don't get it...why is the secret entrance important? Help!
Thanks all!:confused3

:welcome: to this forum!

WoodNymph and Katesdad have provided some additional information about when the YC Secret Entrance is handy.

:goodvibes

Thank you for the warm welcome !
We are arriving Dec 28(my birthday!) and checking out Jan 4, staying CL.
I have enjoyed reading this thread and share the enthusiasm of others for this resort area! We experienced a lovely BC stay in June of 2013. EPCOT is my favorite park and being able to walk there so easily was terrific. And last summer we used a Disney events photographer to have DD's graduation pictures taken outside at the BC;they turned out great, and coming from Michigan, I love having palm trees in her pics!
As I said, the last time we stayed at the Yacht Club was Dec 2000. We have enjoyed several different resorts over the years including the spaciousness of the villas, but I am so excited to return to the YC!:santa:

Thanks for the date clarification. I'll make the update.

:thumbsup2

Lots of fantastic posts since I last logged in here! Thanks for all the great pics and tips! We hit our 180 day out mark today and I was up before 6am to get our dining reservations all scheduled. Had the laptop and the iMac fired up and ready to go! My daughter, who is turning 16 during our trip, had one request: book the crystal palace breakfast before MK opening on her bday. We got an 8:15 slot and luckily no morning Magic hours on that day! Yay! We should have at least 20 minutes of a fairly empty Main Street and hub to take pictures in. She got a new camera and wanted this opportunity to try it out. Im curious if others had this opportunity and what it was like for them.

Well, can't wait to experience BC and the club level in six months!!!

Congrats on getting your daughter's BD wish!!!

Now, what are your plans for getting there? Driving your own car, using Disney transportation or taxi?

Remember, if you drive, you will be parking at TTC and will have to take either the ferry or monorail to get to the MK, so take that extra time into consideration. Disney transportation should work, or if you take a cab, best bet is to have it bring you to the Contemporary and walk from there, since the cabs can't drive directly to the MK entrance gates.

:)

PS- think I will be at the World at approx. the same time as you. Yesterday was my 6 month mark.

Subbing as we just booked our first YC stay for next May. Quick SWW trip, so proximity to HS was a must. :) Kids are super excited for the pool, too! We have always stayed at a monorail resort, so looking forward to checking out the other side of the World!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

strawberrylilacs Feb 12-21 at BC (we have 3 3generation birthdays)

Got it!!!

:woohoo:

Joining in.....5 months to my son's wedding...we are staying at the Beach Club....our 2nd time there....it has been along time since our last trip....I forgot how to do ticker....can I do it on my iPad ...

:welcome: back!!!

May?

Is it a Disney wedding? Details?

:bride: :groom:

I don't know if you can do this on an iPad or not (we are a Microsoft Surface family)- but the process is that you click on the signature or go to www.************** or www.distickers.com to create the ticker. To post it, you copy the code into your signature. Go to USER CP in the upper left corner of the DIS screen. Go to Settings & Options, Then Edit Signature. The code you want is the one that starts

I also have ticker directions in the "How Do I?" section of either the FAQ Post 13 or Other Useful Info Post 14 on the first page. Can't remember which.

;)

Yes, natebenma, the wedding is a "wishes" wedding....at the wedding pavilion and the reception is at the GF...we are staying at the BC...

well, I see my new ticker didnt work...hmmm....

These are my instructions from Page 1

Instructions for Making a Ticker
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some of the websites for making custom vacation (and other) tickers are:

www.distickers.com
www.**************
www.***********************

Either go to one of these websites or find a ticker you like on someone's post. Click on it and it will take you to the site where it was created. You can then customize the background picture, text and dates.

When you are finished, a code will be created that you can copy and paste into your signature.

The code will look something like this:

{url=http://distickers.com/ticker/}{img}http://distickers.com/ticker/tickers/7xmp2twsyl9lfoey.png{/img}{/url}

note: I have replaced the brackets [ ] with braces { } so the address could appear instead of the ticker.

Go to your User CP (upper left corner of this site)
Under Your Control Panel, you will find Settings and Options.
Here is where you can Edit Signature.

Copy and Paste the code from the ticker site you used into your signature.

The ticker, and anything else you add to your signature (smilies, names, past trips, links to trip reports) will appear at the bottom of all of your posts.

Please note that you only get a certain amount of space for your signature, so it part of it is cutting off, you may need to condense some of the stuff above it.

Okay, I am excited to a silly degree about the new safes. Are those just club level, do you think? Those old ones are just sad.

Freezing rain this morning and the kids had a two-hour delay. I never get two-hour delays. :offtopic:

Don't know for sure, but I think the standard rooms are going to be the same design as the club level rooms (just like it has been), so I expect those safes to be in all the renovated rooms.

I am excited too!!!

:cheer2:

We put up our tree today and I started to get out all our ornaments. I think the monorail we have to put around the tree will have to wait at least another year because Aria will probably destroy it.

I have a surefire plan to keep the family's paws off of ANYTHING in your home.

First you take a pad of post it notes and write out a household chore on each slip of paper. Then you paste them all over the thing that you don't want anyone to touch. The rule is that if you touch the item, you are responsible for performing the household chore! This works great and NO ONE will ever dare touch your stuff for fear that they will get stuck doing those chores.

Now sometimes babies take awhile to catch on that if they want to touch your stuff they have to do the chore, BUT if you write a really difficult chore on the thing that you don't want the baby to touch... after the first time they will get it and stop getting into your things.

For example, because you knew there HAD to be an example...

When I had babies around the house I would put "Clean the Garage" on a post it note and place it on the thing that I didn't want them to touch... like the entire kitchen. Sure enough, one baby was not the brightest of the bunch and he got into my pots and pans thinking he was going to be a mini "Bennie Crocker". The older babies took much glee as they screamed "Boast it nope", Boast it nope" at the dopey baby. Well... Dopey baby was busted as I ran into the kitchen and caught him red handed.

It took that baby three weeks to get that garage clean but by the time he was done it was a thing of beauty. Yeah sure only the bottom two feet of the garage was cleaned but in this house I'll take what I can get!

Tara, don't hold back with the chores you write on those post it notes! Those babies are fearless so you have to be tough with them. Some examples of chores that babies hate are: Changing the oil in your car (with tire rotation!), Calculating the family taxes, or putting the toys away.

What ever you do don't give them jobs like cleaning the fridge because they just wind up eating everything and making the babies wrap presents is a guaranteed disaster as they are not sure if they need to use lefty scissors yet.

So get busy putting that monorail up under the tree! Trust me when I say that the mere sight of those "chore post it notes" are enough to scare even the orneriest of babies away from touching your stuff.

Hi, anybody got some advice on how much time to allow for driving? We have a 7:30 am breakfast at ohana and I'm wondering how much time we should allow to get over there from the BC. We will have a car so are gonna drive ourself. Am thinking about an hour but is that too much or too little maybe?

Are you planning to park directly at the Poly or are you dropping the car off at the TTC for the day to head to a park afterwards? If driving direct, travel time should be about 20 mins, max, especially at that time of day. If you are parking at TTC, you can walk to Poly in about 15 mins, or take the monorail if it's running (10 mins). An hour would be more than sufficient in any of these scenarios...45 mins should be more than enough as well! (At that hour of day, every minute counts in my family!)

20 minutes.

Am parking at the poly and heading to downtown disney afterwards so think I'll say 30 mins to be on the safe side. Thanks guys!

Okay, Ninja Mom. It's up (haven't finished decorating the tree, though). I thought about removing the toy dump tuck from behind the Poly, but figured it was more reflective of the actual resort to leave it there.

And your plan to get chores done is brilliant. Does it work on husbands, too? I'm thinking a stickie with "change all the bed sheets" on the Xbox controller might be a thing of beauty.

Very nice Tarak and I too am liking your "change all the bed sheets" suggestion except in this house it would definitely be placed on the TV remote control...lol

During our February stay at BC myself, my daughter and her daughter all have birthdays in less than a week apart. After reading DIS and knowing we do not want to take leftover cake out of restaurant, I decided on mini cake for granddaughter and slipper for daughter. My daughter for years has wanted a balloon from MK. You know, the solid color mickey head in a clear round outer balloon. Various reasons we have not been able to get one.
I have been wondering if the BC CMs (I'm not CL) would be able to get her a couple to put in our room. Is this a ridiculous request? I thought I would give it a try. Please give me your thoughts or recommendations.
I have looked into Disney Celebrations and they do not have kind of balloons.

:rotfl: It's nice that you left the dump truck by the Poly.

Ok tarak. He's the thing with us hubbies'. We read them but don't comprehend. Even after you explain it we just look at you with that blank look and say "OK". :cool2:

Personally I doubt it. But it doesn't hurt to ask. Pretty sure it wouldn't be the most outrageous request but the worst they could say is "No. We can't do that."

I doubt it. They are not readily available at the resorts. Personally I don't think it is a reasonable request of the BC staff. You can get one when you head to the MK together. That too would be special for your daughter

There's a person near WDW that customizes Disney gifts and brings them to the resorts. I used them once a long long time ago and I know they are still in business because I see them delivering to the different resorts. For the life of me I can't think of the name ... I know MickeyT has used them ... maybe he can post their name/number/website. You tell them exactly what you want, they get it, wrap it up and deliver it to the resort.
