2013 DLR Refurbs

Hey all, first post. I did a search and didn't really see anything, but feel free to merge/move etc.

I'm currently planning a trip to DLR in April 2013. I used to live in SoCal and went to DLR multiple times, but haven't been since 2003 or so (Space Mountain was closed when I went).

So, has anyone heard any rumors of significant refurbs next year? Thanks!

Fantasy Faire opening in "Winter 2013", which could mean January, February, March, or December of 2013.

It's really too far in the furture to know.

If you are going in early Aprils near Spring Breaks you have little to worry about. If going at the end they often start short or month long rehabs to be ready for Summer. It possible a huge multi month rehab could take place as well. We should know more in the late Fall.

One possibility is the Princess Fantasy Faire in Fantasyland. This is where you can meet multiple princesses. They are getting a new location on the Hub that will open in the Winter of 2013, with no specific date known. The PFF may be empty or in a transition during your visit.

I was just curious if anyone had heard any rumors about major refurbs or something. I know Space Mountain's refurb was rumored for at least a year or two before I went the last time.

The hard thing is that sometimes rumours of refurbs are really just people wishing something would get refurbed, and then it turns into a "rumour" but it actually has zero validity. For example (and take this with a huge chunk of salt!) I've heard "rumours" of an Indy refurb at some point, but when I tried digging a little deeper to see what the source of it was, all I could find was basically just people saying "Well it needs a refurb really badly so they've gotta be doing it soon!". Wishing doesn't make it so, sadly!

So until you hear something official from Disney, I wouldn't really give too much credence to the rumours you do find.

Indy as an example is getting a major rehab, this has been a rumor for years. Then when it show up on the closure list people say here it is, the multimonth closure we've expected to do this and that. Then it turns out into a few days or weeks for maintenance and not fixing everything. So the big refurb rumor persists with no basis in truth.

The source for the Indy refurb is none other than Al Lutz, in his Feb 2012 column. Look at the end of the section titled "Late for a very important date", near the end of the column.
