Well, woke up at 3:00 a.m. this morning after dreaming about a crazy day at a Water park!!:rotfl2: Wanna know what freaked me out.................NO Fastpasses!!! I am a HUGE fastpass user. We never stand in line.

How bad are the lines, really????

So, curious... if we were as far away from the lobby as possible but were still in BC, how long of a walk would it be to get back to the lobby? To SAB? The boat launch?

No more than five minutes ... walking very very slow.

Hi Everyone,
We are leaving soon. :yay: I am so behind schedule. No packing yet :crazy2: Argggggghhhhh Finally took my DS17 shopping for the trip (because she has NOTHING to wear) Oh that was fun :rolleyes1
Anywho all caught up here and I have a question (stupid) How accurate is the forecast for Orlando. We are checking in 7/1 and it says 60% rain.

I have my ponchos ready just wondering has anyone relied on these reports. I want to be optimistic :cool2:

The weather forecast will change DAILY !! We were there for Andrea in June and were supposed to get rain every day. We only had rain one evening after the TS came through.

Remember that even though it shows 60%, that doesn't mean it will last all day. usually in Florida, the afternoons will get rain, then it will stop before the evening gets there. (USUALLY ;) )

Why would anyone plan ahead? Just walk up to the restaurant and say " Do you know how much this vacation is costing me?"

Do you have any idea how many times I've heard that? I get that even when it's raining and they want to know when it's going to stop. Like I know??????

As ocalla states, you can't really rely on the forecasts. Unless you know there is a tropical storm in the area, and it is showing 100% chance of rain. 60% chance of rain means there is a slightly better than even chance of rain SOMETIME during the day SOMEWHERE in Orlando. The weather can be vastly different from park to park to resort.

Typical pattern this time of year is a rain or thunderstorm sometime in the late afternoon, lasting an hour or so and then hopefully clearing out for the evening.

Best way to make sure it doesn't rain- bring along your poncho!

While Bob was working at the Contemporary and I was doing my thing at the BC (same hours so we car-pooled), he picked me up one night after work and I said, "boy, that was some storm ... couldn't even see the Boardwalk because the rain was so heavy." He said, "what rain, we didn't have any rain at the Contemporary".

Sometimes an Animal Kingdom bus and a Magic Kingdom bus drops off at the same time. As the guests are walking through the front door, half are soaking wet and half are dry. It rained at one park and not the other.

Thinking of you and Bob today and saying a few prayers:grouphug:

Ok....the story I'm about to tell will frustrate all of you, so beware!

My sister-in-law and her family is joining us at WDW....staying CL at BC. We arrive in 20 days.

Several weeks ago I gave her the email address and phone number for IPO to make her dining reservations. She calls me tonight to ask a few questions and to tell me she narrowed down where she wants to eat. In 20 days. Would you care to guess where she wants IPO to book her family for dinner? Go ahead....guess.

Are you sitting down? Sit down. You'll need to be sitting when you hear this.

Chef Mickey's AND Be Our Guest.

I am not lying! I can't make this stuff up. Seriously!

Are you freaking kidding me? 20 days before she arrives, she wants to eat at the MOST popular restaurants at WDW!

I think I may have snorted when she told me. She didn't like it when I said people book their meals 180 days in advance. I told her she might get a 9:15 dinner reservation at Chef Mickey's and if she wants to eat at BOG, she should line up at 10:30am for lunch cuz she's not getting in there for dinner!

This is why I don't like traveling with non-planners.

ARGH!

Who can relate to my frustration?

Once and only once DH and I went with another couple.... never, ever again. While they were ok with all the ADR's we made (well in advance) we could not get them to understand the importance of getting up and going in the a.m. DH and I like to hit a park early, enjoy for a few hours and then relax at the pool in the afternoon, then hit a park for the evening. Every morning they were like an hour late:sad2: After day 2 I told them just to text us when they got to the park. They thought it was rude of us .:rolleyes2

5 minutes at most

Why would anyone plan ahead? Just walk up to the restaurant and say " Do you know how much this vacation is costing me?"

We went the first week in July last year for the first time. It will most likely rain for about an hour each afternoon. Usually around 3 or so. We usually are at the pool at this time so getting wet doesn't matter and if there is lightening we just go to the room and get ready for dinner.... one afternoon we were at Epcot and it started pouring while we were in the UK. We entered the Rose and Crown pub and waited out the rain there:drinking1

Iced or Hot?

(Couldn't decide this morning, so I'm having both!)

:upsidedow good idea

Teena - thinking of you and Bob today and wishing him a speedy recovery.

Crazy time here - still have to pack and finish shopping!

Good luck this morning though. Got out my "Disney" Lesportsac mini backpack that I only use at Disney. Made sure APs, waterpark APs, TIW and Disney Reward card were there. I had to load our Disney dollars on our card $300! The nice surprise though was that I found $175 Disney gift cards still there from our last trip!!!!

5 days to go!!!!!!

I've been in hiding mode for a while due to pile-ups at work, but I'll be free on Thursday and *may* have some news! Anyway, I have been reading along and want to say hi to my BC/YC friends and wish Teena a good day today. Clearly, you and Bob are in my thoughts.

Teena: After all this time I never realized that Bob used to work at CR???

Please let us know when he is out of surgery!

ScottMC: I hope this "news" is the real, real good kind!!!

Dee: My coffee at the moment is hot, but as warm as it is supposed to get today, I may have to switch over :)

And now a couple of BC/BCV questions. DH, DS(19) and I will be at BCV in a one bedroom villa a month from today. Yay!

When I booked my reservation by phone, DH told me to ask for a higher floor which I did. However, after reading about the different balconies, when I did online check-in, I requested a full balcony. My question is: are high floors and full balconies mutually exclusive or do some higher floor rooms have full balconies? Should I change my request to a lower floor if I really want a full balcony? I know requests are just requests, but I want to give myself the best chances.

Also, does anyone know how to go about booking an Illuminations boat cruise? My sister will be joining us, but staying at BC and she is interested in doing a fireworks cruise. I've booked them before when we stayed at the GF and Poly, but am not sure it is the same procedure for Epcot fireworks. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Others have replied that all of the BCV have at least one full balcony, off the living room.

The number I have for booking an Illuminations Cruise is (407) WDW-PLAY.

:)

we are going back to the Beach Club September 17-24th. We stayed here 5 years ago and had a great room. This trip the kids are older and a lot more excited about the pool than they were last time. I can't wait to go back. :)

:welcome: to the thread!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Kind of weird question I know but what kitchen cooks the food for room service at the Beach Club? There may be a time we just want to go back to the BC, go to the shower and a/c and order a good burger or sandwich, watch tv, and take a nap before heading back out. Just curious.

Have I welcomed you yet? Are you on the Be Our Guest list? Just in case...

:welcome:

BUMP!

Which kitchen cooks the room service food?

Another, less expensive but not as convenient solution, is to stop somewhere on your way back to the room to get some food.

Flatbread, Sandwich, Salad or Grab and Go Sushi from the Marketplace

Burger or Sandwich from Hurricane Hanna's

When we are returning from EP to BC, we love bringing back something from either Sunshine Seasons, Tangierine Café or France.

:goodvibes

DBF and I will be checking in to YC in 58 days! We're spending 4 nights prior to this at SpringHill Suites on Int. Drive so we can go to SeaWorld and the parks that must not be named! My question is, when we check in to YC on the Tuesday, is there a time that would be best to check in?
We can get a taxi at any point, we were thinking of maybe doing some shopping before heading over. What is the quietest time of day to check in? We know with it being August our room probably won't be ready till around 3pm but are more than happy to spend some time at SAB!
I'm thinking we won't do the online check in because I have made our room requests via phone and I don't want the online check in to counteract these, plus we've never been to YC before (DBF has never been to Disney) so we might want to ask questions etc. Unless people think we would benefit from online check in?
:)

BUMP

Least crowded time at the checkin desk?

:)

Hi everyone, I think we will be staying at BC this Sept. but I have been reading that the rooms at the BC are a little "worn". Are the rooms at the YC in better shape? (newer?)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for September.

:yay:

Others have responded about room condition. I think the general consensus is that most rooms at both resorts are fine, the hallway carpeting, especially at BC has overstayed its welcome and needs to go.

Checking into the Beach Club on July 16 (getting sooooooo close) and we're thinking of doing a fishing excursion one day. I read online that you can do it from the beach club. Just looking for some reviews. Has anyone ever done it? My nephew LOVES to fish and this is his 8th grade graduation trip. We're looking to make it a little extra special.

:welcome:

Great day to start a trip at the Beach Club!!! I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on page 1.

:thumbsup2

Others have posted about their fishing experiences. Here is the number I have to call and reserve: (407) WDW-BASS

Dee I had to comment and say thanks for sharing your great back sack suggestion. I realize that I'm a yet to be reformed pack mule! I carry far too many things that I never use and need to lighten the load. :) My camera and a wristlet are really the only things that I need but then I add a light sweater for attractions that are too cold, and then I may as well throw in chap stick and sunglass case and then I just keep going.

You are welcome! :goodvibes

I do have to admit, though, I can't use the string bag everytime I go to the parks. It is great when we are just popping into EPCOT for the night. In other cases, I am rocking a fanny pack.

For the class trip last year, I definitely had more "baggage" as I was responsible for 20 park tickets, 40 meal vouchers and 14 ID cards daily.

:upsidedow

Checked in today after 5 nights at POR and hubby is already a convert. We love the beach club. Ate at beaches and cream while we waited for our rooms to be ready. We didn't make any requests except connecting rooms and got them. We also got daybeds which is great as we would need rollaways without them. We are on the first floor right next to the secret entrance by Epcot which is perfect for our family!!! Close to laundry and the marketplace and Epcot. Walked around the boardwalk after dinner tonight and decided to see if any illuminations cruises were available this week and we were able to book one for tomorrow!!!

So glad to hear you are enjoying the BC so far!!!

Can't wait to hear about the Illuminations cruise!

:goodvibes

Thanks for sharing your story. Put a smile on my face!

:rolleyes1

Great tip! Now to figure out where to stash the ponchos for August showers!! Hmmm.....

Well, you could always either carry them in your hands (if you still have one left) or if they have already been used, wear it in. You may look a little "different" if the sun is shining, but maybe others will give you plenty of clearance!

;)

This happens in my neighborhood! I'll start out my run and it'll be gorgeous out, hit the front of the neighborhood at the 2 mile mark and run through a complete down pour. When I get home DH wants to know why I'm soaking went.

What a nice surprise! While cleaning my desk yesterday I found an old gift card. $0 balance. :(

We are also being joined by another sister-in-law and her fiancee and my brother-in-law and his family. The rest of the kids are all a lot younger than mine. I've already warned them that they need to get to the parks at rope drop in order to ride anything without a long wait. We will be hitting the parks in the early evening and staying until the wee hours of the night. We will meet up at some point during the day. I told them to plan meals for their own families. Several years ago we traveled with 17 people and did two character breakfasts. Guess who planned those 180 days in advance? :rolleyes1 While it was fun (not really :crazy2:), I'm in no hurry to do that again. My nephews.....how can I delicately put it......get no discipline at home, let alone on vacation. Our kids get disciplined at home so there's no need to worry on vacation....everyone gets along!

In 1 week and 1 hour I will be landing at MCO :cool1:

Woo hoo!!!! Here a happy dance for you!
:cheer2: :rockband: :dancer: :yay:

Teena.....I said a little prayer for Bob and his doctors this morning.

Happy Monday everyone!
