I have a Tastykake story!!!

So, our local supermarkets started carrying Tastykakes this fall. On Teena's recommendation, we tried the ones offered. YUM!!! OMG- York Peppermint Pattie ones!!!

Anyway, they have an orange spongecake variety- like a twinkie and they are sugarfree! I purchased a box and my teenager loved them. So I bought two more boxes. Then he must have noticed that they are sugar free, so he would no longer eat them. So the cakes got stale-ish.

For those of you who may not know, I work very part-time as a museum teacher at a farm and manor house which are over 300 years old. We have a horse, a donkey, a rabbit, cat, 3 goats, several sheep, roosters and an 800 pound pig named Big Dave. The Tastycakes did not go to waste. At work on Tuesday, Big Dave loved them (I gave a couple to Appleton the spoiled goat, too, and he enjoyed them as well)

I love anything York Peppermint Pattie - a cake version sounds amazing.

Gotta love how quickly a teen can change their mind, based on new information. Good thing Big Dave is ready to pick up the leftovers. :)

Hello everyone! I'm new to DIS but not new to the BC. I was checking around for details & new info since this will be our first year staying CL. It's definitely interesting, amazing & helpful to see how others plan & vacation at Disney. Lots of wonderful ideas! Although, I'm still learning how to navigate through the threads & search - its been fun & addicting really. We're driving down (as always) from NY arriving July 20th for 14 nights! This year I guess I'm packing Tastykakes for Teena! Lol. I'm looking forward to reading along & continue to tweak our final plans for another awesome vacation!

With only 8 days to go, we finally got the Snow White dress completed, now I need to create a Belle dress. My Great Niece is soooo excited.

My hours are changing in two weeks. I'll be working 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

Don't worry Teena, I'LL keep you company! They don't let you use noodles on duty do they? Just think of all the exercise we'll get chasing each other around the lobby! It will make the time pass so quickly!! :woohoo:

Finally got the hubby's okay :) We will be staying at the Beach Club from Oct 12th - 19th. This will be our first time at the Beach Club. I am soooo looking forward to it! We will be celebrating our little one's 3rd birthday. :)

I do have some questions! (Sorry! ) If I book a "standard" view room what will my balcony be over looking?

Hi Nixie- in the past I've booked standard view. I think I remember the view being a grassy courtyard. Last year I booked a garden view. We were on the 4th floor with a beautiful view of Spaceship Earth overlooking a back garden of lilacs & walkway to the villas. We could even see Illuminations fireworks! You'll need to specify you want a balcony or you might end up with a first floor walk out patio.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm so excited. Most of the fun is the anticipation & planning with the family.

A walkout patio wouldn't be too horrible. We would def. be using the balcony (or patio) when our younger two try and take naps in the middle of the day. A view of Spaceship Earth sounds lovely!

Another question: Are life jackets allowed to be used while going down the big slide at the pool? (It should still be warm enough to swim in October right?!?!)

Make sure you request a full balcony then. We loved it & used it often. We would order room service or grab a sandwich/salad from the marketplace & eat on the balcony during a rain storm. Our 1st year we didn't know better & only had a Juliet Balcony- barely big enough for two people to stand only.

The lifejackets are allowed- I remember seeing kids come off the slide with them on. There's a rack of lifejackets they provide for you but you can bring your own. It probably has to be a certified life jacket though - no arm swimmies type of thing.

We just recently got them here in NYC! Seeing them a little more since Hostess went out of business! I used to get them when DD was in college in the Philly area then I found them at a supermarket in Staten Island and now they are available where I shop... not that I get to eat them :(

Thanks!!! It's little tips like these that are super helpful...and will impress DH hahaha.

The main thing you need to remember is follow the hallway signs to Room 1501.

Here is the post from the BC Rooms Post (Post 8)

Step-Saving Super Secret Entrance to the Beach Club

There is a side entrance/exit to the Beach Club which takes you mere steps, probably 3 minutes, from the International Gateway Entrance. It is near room 1501.

This was really handy for us a couple of times this summer when it was wicked hot and when it had just started pouring.

You have to go through a lot of hallways to find it, so the best way to do this is to follow the signs to room 1501 from the lobby.

Here are photos of the exit door near room 1501, the pathway and the gate to the "secret entrance"
