Just read on another thread that Beaches and Cream no longer accept DDP, just wondered if anyone else had heard this?

I'd be shocked if that we're true. They are a TS location though, not CS, so maybe the poster was confused.

Hey All!!!
9 days into our 11 day trip to YC. I will do a report when I get back but I don't know if this was mentioned or not, but there is at least ONE YC CL room that has NO BALCONY at all.....room 5163. Our friends had it this week...I had no idea that existed. They were not complaining because they had been upgraded to CL from a GV room, but, just an FYI. (Not sure if there are others like it).

The CL GV YC rooms all have balconies - the 4 face the wedding gazebo and one faces the main entrance over Epcot. MAYBE it is lagoon view but I would throw myself into the lagoon if I paid that for the view and couldn't see it????
I did hear rumors on that but am near certain it is a standard view club room which honestly I always so I would never do simply b/c garden so few dollars difference and lagoon only 50 so or more on top of that. I am huge into a view and no way could I stay to look at a roof top for that kind of money. Food is not THAT good!!! Can't wait to hear your report!

Well, we've been back almost a week and I'm finally feeling caught up at home, so....time to take some time out to tell you about our awesome vacation at the Yacht Club! Figured I'd break this up into a few mini installments. This first one will be about our room.

We reserved a CL GV room. As soon as we arrived via ME we were wisked up to the 5th floor. I situated the kids in the lounge with some food while my DH checked us in. We were given room:



Two queen beds, plus a daybed:







We hadn't even requested a daybed, but we found that with two kids we really enjoyed having it...not so much for sleeping, but the fact that it gave us somewhere to sit other than the beds.

As you may know, there are only 5 YC GV CL rooms. When I spoke to the IPO shortly before our trip, she did mention to me that all but one of the rooms had a sideways view of the lagoon. I've had that view before and loved it, so that was the only request we made: "sideways view of the lagoon please". I figured that with 80% of the rooms having that view, we stood a chance. Well, here was our view:

Yup, as you can see, we were given the 1 and only GV CL room where the lagoon was totally blocked just by virtue of the configuration of the building. But, here's the good news: If I stood on the far right hand side of the balcony and leaned way too far out to be safe, and held my camera as far out as I could, this is what we saw:



And, speaking of leaning over the balcony...one day we were on the balcony and couldn't help noticing a group of little girls on a 4th floor balcony across the way. There was a little girl, probably about 3 years old, standing on top of one of the chairs leaning WAAAAYYY over the balcony railing. No parents to be seen. After watching for a few minutes and feeling like I was going to have a heart attack, I finally went to tell the CL staff about it. The wonderful woman at the desk pulled out a map right away, and my DH and I helped her pinpoint the room. She called them right away and took care of it.

Overall, our room was great! Very convenient to the lounge and my DH and I did enjoy looking at the wedding gazebo very much. We sat on the balcony a lot in the afternoons for a drink while the kids vegged out in the room resting from our mornings in the parks.

I found the room to have more than adequate storage, especially when compared to the moderates we've stayed at. There was a large closet and more than enough drawer space. I always unpack as soon as we arrive and we use our luggage for dirty clothes. Works out great since we pack everything back in the suitcases as the week goes on.

For anyone who is wondering, here are the grapefruity-smelling products offered in room:



Mousekeeping was great! Our room was always very clean. When we checked in they did give us an opportunity to select a 2 hour window during which we'd like mousekeeping to visit every day. This worked out great since we had an idea when they'd be arriving. Over the course of the whole week, we received only 1 towel animal. It was this gem:



We couldn't stop laughing when we saw it. My DD13 looked at it and said, "I am not touching that thing". Best towel animal ever for how much it made us laugh. I believe it's supposed to be a stingray??? Looks a heck of a lot like something else to me though...

And one last thing, here's the showerhead. I took the pic; I'm darn well gonna post it (even if Mousemommy1 did beat me to it!):



Up next...our review of CL...

Oh I know that room!!! We have stayed at YC CL GV the last 4 summers and one year I had that room as well. I had to hang my head over to enjoy my lagoon view! LOVE that area of rooms though....So glad you enjoyed it as well. We are going back in 50 days but NOT staying Club this year so am anxious to hear your review on it...though I want might CL again after reading it!)

CT Disney I LOVE the pictures of your room at Yacht Club. It seems like the more I think about it, the more Yacht might be the answer over Beach.

I keep going back and forth on which resort to pick. I'll be traveling with my sister, who already thinks my "obsession" with Disney is strange enough and she is not really a kid-lover (she tolerates them when she has to). Having looked at room pictures I think she'd like Beach Club ambiance better but I just know if we walk into that lobby and it's brimming with kids she'll turn right around and get back on the Magical Express! So maybe Yacht Club will be the best choice. We walked through that lobby once and it seemed nice and chill, more relaxed and quiet, which I know she'll like.

Also, does anyone have some info or can share an experience about dining Vegan at Disney? I'm an equal opportunity eater, but my sister is super healthy and follows a Vegan diet. I know I can note this on all our reservations and I trust the chefs at the restaurants will be as accommodating as possible but I want to make sure she will have access to meals that won't be just salads or roasted vegetables.

Hi everyone!! Bf and I are coming December 1-7th and I cannot wait. Staying at BC GV. Was hoping for YC but was all booked. We come every year but this is our first trip to see the Christmas decorations. I noticed the park hours are way shorter than our August trip hours. Any suggestions on what to do in the evenings? Thinking DTD and BW one night but what else to do. We don't have hoppers at this time but aren't opposed to adding it. Thanks!!!

I am curious about our room configuration. I know there is a lot of discussion about daybeds in a room. Seeing as it is just my DH and I we obviously won't need one. Will there be a sofa in the room? I have heard that all room at BC have 2 queen beds, so I didn't even request a king.

Also, any ideas on how the buses will be running on May 24th, the 24 hour day. I had originally planned to spend the 24th at the Magic Kingdom, now I am a bit nervous about the crowds. However I am now thinking if we get to MK early on the 24th maybe the crowds won't be so bad. Do you think the Disney buses will be running as early as 5am?

Sorry Everyone - OT - This is about Ireland...

Yes my grandparents were from Ireland. My Grandmother was from Roscommon and my Grandfather came from Clark. My Grandfather came first, then worked and saved and my Grandmother came over when he had enough money to send for her... CRAZY! Then he worked and saved and brought my Great Aunt Florrie (who was a serious piece of work). Pop-pop used to joke he should have left her in Ireland, lol.

I had a second cousin that came to visit in the 80's (we're about the same age and both named Susan). We had a great time. Unfortunately, we've lost touch. Last I heard she married a Brit and moved to England.

I've never been to Ireland, but if I can stop having WDW vacations all the time, maybe I could get there! LOL. Honestly, when my daughter is a bit older I would like to try a visit.

My Mom was able to go before she passed and I am very grateful for that. She loved it, so beautiful and was so happy to visit her "home" country.

And of course, Newark is a huge airport with lots of choices of airlines, etc., but not a big JETBLUE hub (if that is focus) and only about 10-15 mins (literally) closer than Westchester, just in a different direction. Newark also has a train station, that you get to from Penn Station (about 1.2 miles southeast of Grand Central), and unlike white plains, the newark train also has a stop right at airport, which avoids the taxi at the end.

Newark has 4 or 5 Jet Blue flights to and from Orlando a day, United has 6.
Newark is actually the closest airport to Mid town Manhattan, in distance. There are buses from Midtown or NJ transit from Penn Station, Ewr is the third stop.

But what is the approximate percentage of BC standard rooms that have 2 queen beds and a day bed?
With DW, DS, DD and myself, a daybed would be good.

I would definitely say it's a garden view room. It looks right over the gazebo, and the windows don't even open so you could look out and see water....and even if you could, there is no water to be seen.

I wish I had taken pictures, but yeah, pretty sure it is garden view.

I certainly hope it's not a SV cl room!! I will throw a hissy fit if we don't get a full balcony at YC!

Hi there DancinDaisyDuck!!

I would agree that there appears to be less kids at YC versus BC after having stayed at both. The YC has a convention center attached and we noticed it was mostly business types at the YC. I love the BC too so for me, kids are not an issue.

As for the vegan experience.. I recently followed this TR for this young lady who dined vegan during her trip in February. It isn't focused on the dining especially but she has another TRs in her signature for which she ate vegan.

That's strange, I think for the food offered it should be a quick service in my opinion. Mostly hot dogs & hamburger type stuff!

I've had a king bed at both BC & YC with DH. It made for a much more spacious room. I don't think thre are tons on king bed rooms, but we preferred it.

I stand corrected - apparently it seems there may be lots of jetblue from newark

It was someone from the UK trip planning forum, he went about 2 weeks ago and they said you can no longer use TS ddp credits so he walked to chef de France instead. He said beaches and cream was really quiet as well.

I've seen lots of comments about the Beach Club lobby being busy and noisy and full of kids. We never spend any time in the lobby, except while waiting for dinner at Cape May. It is just takes a minute to walk through, so it wouldn't matter to us at all if it was noisy.

If you are traveling during a time when most kids are in school, you might not find it full of kids very often. We usually travel in the off season and haven't really found the lobby to be too busy.

The YC lobby is very quiet, almost dead by comparison, but since the Marketplace is at the BC, we usually prefer to stay there. And the easy access to Epcot is worth it for us.

We will be at WDW that same week, although at the WL. During periods of reduced hours, which is when we usually stay at the BC, we just go into Epcot at night, or maybe MK when it is open late. We always buy park hoppers and I think you get a lot of use out of them when staying at an Epcot resort. And they will be holding Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party several nights of your stay, so that would be an option at night.

We've stayed at the Bc when there were five of us and always got the daybed. We've stayed when there were four of us and sometimes got a daybed. But when it has been just DH and I, we never get a daybed. The only time we got a king bed was when we got a free upgrade to a deluxe room, room #1501 in fact.
