I've been so bummed about not returning to the BC this summer BUT I'm very excited that I just booked a surprise trip for DH & I in October (his 50th & our 28th wedding anniversary :scared1:). First time going without the kids too! He's going to be sooo shocked!! Dee, please add us to the BOG list...we will be there 10/20-10/23.... cannot wait to attend F&W again!

And I cannot wait to see you and Carlos again!

Trying to get caught up on the last few (11) pages!

Another busy week with school stuff! My son Ben is in a production of Pom Pom Zombies with the middle school drama club this week- shows are Thurs, Fri and Sat- and I am recruiting volunteers for front of the house and backstage with the cast for the shows. Then next Wednesday is Greek Day at his school and I am contacting parents to volunteer for that too! My email overfloweth (which it did anyway). First spring track meet for my high schooler yesterday- javelin and shot put.

Which is all to say, sorry for getting a bit behind!

If you have posted a question which wasn't addressed, please bump it up!

Dee

Happy Easter!! Getting caught up again!! Happy Birthday ocalla :cake: You just reminded me that I need to change my signature for my DS!! It's his 11th birthday today and yes, 11 years ago he was born on Easter!!

Missed this on Easter, so a belated happy birthday to your son!

Hello everyone...hope you all had a lovely Easter Sunday! I have a question for everyone. Just today on the old WDW site (which is the only one we can get :() It finally popped up that I could do online check in. I started going through the motions to do it, but then it kicked me back out of it. I was going to try again tonight, but my question is this.

Does it really matter if I don't do the online check in? We are staying CL, so I wasn't sure if it was really necessary. Is the check in at CL part of the experience? But I do wonder about making the requests with the online check in. Will we get the daybed with us being five? If a full balcony is important should I do the online check in and request that? :confused3

Any advice is appreciated.:flower3:

Have you tried again, or will you just check in when you arrive? I think you are fine not doing the advanced pre-registration. If you are a true party of 5 (all over age 3), your family will have priority for a daybed. That is not currently an option for the online checkin anyway. I think having the full balcony request on your reservation (make sure CRO and IPO both know your wishes): "Full balcony, please and daybed for our family of 5"
.

Checking in for a BCV stay in Sep/Oct. My second stay here and I'm so looking forward to it.

I'll be there from 9/29 - 10/7.

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

We're coming! Wanted to book BC for this past trip, but ended up taking my parents with us. Turned out for the best because it was too cold to swim and. . .

I booked BC August 4-6 using the bounceback offer in our room last week at POFQ. Quick trip that will definitely be pool and Epcot focused! :beach: Just me and my girls.

Would love suggestions--I'm definitely going to plan on eating poolside at least one night. I've never been in August, should I be scared?

Off to make a ticker :cool1:

Awesome! :welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:cool1:

You are staying in the perfect place for a pool/EPCOT trip!

My best advice to you is to go as early as you can to the parks, before the crowds start to show up. There could be afternoon thunderstorms- hopefully they will be shortlived.

There are some great poolside options for meals! I have my eye on the lobster and shrimp roll!!!

I'm with Ninja mom......too many wobbly pops yesterday. Good to hear about the ounce back as I already booked a flight in July. :)

It looks like your trip is this week. Hope it is a great one!

:yay:

Thanks for the response. We won't be arriving until after 9pm so I guess I just get it at DHS the next morning.

Do I have you on the Be Our Guest list? Did a quick search and didn't see you there? When is your trip?

:welcome:

:)

In effort to try and have my family pack less for the trip, does anyone have any information on the hair dryer provided in the room? Is it one of those ones attached to the wall? Does anyone have a photo?

Thanks!

:welcome: to the thread!

Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list? When is your trip?

:woohoo:

After my confusing response about the hairdryer, I think the answer is to expect a wall unit, so if you need something more powerful for your trip, you will have to bring it.

I amI so excited, we will be there Friday!!! I cannot wait for the warmth it snowed here today. Since we are taking my sister, my girls have 2 countdown chains going. One with how many sleeps until Aunt Betty gets here, and the other how many sleeps til "Dinney" as my youngest pronounces it.

Have a great trip!

:thumbsup2

Hi - is there a place at/near BC or in Boardwalk area that does hair wraps? Thanks :)

:welcome:

When is your trip? Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1?

Even if just 1 night is sold out it will show no availability. But, that is the end of Jersey Week, a marathon weekend and right before Veterans Day. It will be quite busy.

It includes the last weekend of the F&W too.

I was unable to book a garden room at either YC or BC for late October. All signs point to a busy fall!

The first full week of December is booked for the BC, too. Which means that I can't be tempted to switch from the WL for our next trip.

It is often full and it has never affected our trips. :)

Thank you for all the reply's. Knowing that you have been there when it is full and had no impact on you trip is very reassuring. :thumbsup2

If you are lucky they might be able to let you stay in the same room so you won't have to move your stuff. Do you have it noted as one of your preferences so that the room assigner would know you have two reservations?

It would be nice if they could do this. And it would save them some work, too.

Thanks for the input. It is noted on my stay that we are linked to the original reservation. I will make sure I tell my CM at check in. Not really wanting to have to move rooms with three kids and multiple bags.

I would say it is the rare exception you would need to change rooms as long as you are staying in the same category of room. Once we were even booked for one night at the WL villas before a long stay at the WL itself and when we checked in, we were just put in the hotel for the one night instead of the villas so did not have to change rooms.

Would suggest not doing online check for either reservation just so you can go over it with the CM checking you in. And then go down early in the morning to recheck in. Then, if you find out you do have to change rooms (it DOES happen), you will have time to go back and get your things together before needing to be out of the room.

Good luck and hope you have a great time!:wizard:

My trip is April 1th. Please *** me to bog list. Thx

:welcome: kristenYC

Looks like someone had their fingers on the wrong keys! ;)

Please clarify the dates of your trip and I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

YC?

:cool1:

Still getting lake effect snow in N.E. Ohio. Cannot wait for mid-May BC stay.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1

:woohoo:

I hope your thoughts of your upcoming stay are helping you deal with this crazy weather and never-ending winter. We have had windchills in the 20's the past couple of days. But at least no snow.

Hi everyone! I am a longtime lurker of the Dis and have been reading through this thread because we booked a last minute (for me-I usually spend months planning!)trip to the Beach Club!:cool1: This trip is a surprise for the kids and a much needed family getaway after having gone through a terrible past few months in which we lost my mother-in-law to cancer just seven weeks after we found out she had it. She was a huge Beauty and the Beast fan and had wanted to go with us to Disney, but I know she will be there in spirit:love:

We are so excited to be staying at our first deluxe and first time club level stay and are looking forward to lounging by the pool and being able to walk to Epcot:goodvibes. We will also be celebrating my DS turning 12 on our trip! I have already gotten so much information from everyone's posts and can't wait to be there! Our dates are 7/8-7/14, we would love to be added to the BOG list. Just wanted to say hi and share my excitement!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Hopefully this trip will be a nice distraction to your sadness. How will you reveal the trip to the kids?

Hi there. I'm sure this was addressed in past threads.. I can't find it. My family and I will be staying at the BC from June 10th thru June 17. We were able to get two different discounts for our rooms. The first covers 10th thru 15th. We have to check out on the 15th and check back in again for the last two days. Is this an easy process?? The second discount is through my Disney Visa. Is it okay to check out early in the morning and check right back in?? or... will they make me wait until afternoon and make us switch rooms? Thanks.. any info. is greatly appreciated.

:yay:

As others have suggested, just keep making sure that everyone knows that you have two reservations, for the same type of room. I'm sure the room assigners will do what they can to keep you in the same room.

So very excited!!!

natebenma, could you please add us to your BOG list? We have finally finished changing our vacation plans for the umphteen time and as of a few minutes ago, we finished booking everything and we have come up with this, our final version...:scratchin

We will be at the BC October 23rd - 26th and then we will be heading off to the Dream for our first cruise ever!!!

October can't come soon enough!!!!!!!
Thanks for adding us.

:welcome: back!

Will do! Sounds like a fantastic vacation!!!

:woohoo:

I just took advantage of the new discount available so I will now be staying at the BC! I haven't stayed here since July of 2005! So excited!!! :)

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

I just booked the beach club for May 29th-June 2. We are so excited to stay here for the first time. I have a question about the storm along bay. Do you have to be a good swimmer to use the slide? My boys are young, and it seems like they wore life jackets at the Contemporary pool slide.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:yay:

It is up to the lifeguards, and I think the posted rules say you need to know how to swim, but reports are that kids are allowed to wear lifejackets on the slide.

They might also enjoy spending some time on the smaller slide- make sure you check out the pictures in the 3rd post of this thread.

My YC club level trip just got a little better. Saved an extra $1000 with the new GP code!!

:yay:

Thanks Dee, I did try again and I did do it! I couldn't help myself, just too excited! Funny though the part where it allowed room requests did not work properly anyway. I sent an email to IPO and they noted the request for full balcony. It is not a real deal breaker but would be an extra bit of magic I suppose. We are a family of five (DD's are 8,7,4) so that is good to hear about the daybed. :goodvibes Thanks for the help!

Good morning from another Disney-obsessed veteran! :rotfl2:
After skimming this thread, I've decided to add a night at YC at the beginning of our GF stay. Never tried YC, never even seen inside it and eager to do so. :goodvibes

A couple questions: I love my morning coffee; if one does not stay CL, and does NOT like the in-room coffee, is it a long walk to refill your mugs?

Also, are there any rooms that are to be avoided? I didn't make any requests?

Hope you fall in love with the resort!

When is your stay? Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1?

:woohoo:

You can refill your mug with coffee at the Ale & Compass lounge in the YC lobby. The refill station is only available there in the morning, until noon I think, when the bar opens.

Reports are that it is REAL coffee, not nescrape!

There is a post about coffee in the "Other Useful Info" post on Page 1 (post 13 or 14 maybe) if you need more info.

Made lots of additions to the Guest List this morning. I would appreciate if you could take a moment to make sure I have the info about your trip listed accurately.

Post 15: Be Our Guest list

*******************************************************

Reminder- if you have recently returned from a stay and have pictures of your room view, please share them on these threads:

I started up two View Threads in the Resort Photo Subforum:

Beach Club Room Views

Yacht Club Room Views

*******************************************************

Each month, when I share the activities schedule, I will be posting a message about how proud I am of the positive, friendly and helpful vibe on this thread along with an appeal to everyone here to keep it that way. Fortunately, we have had very few instances of rude or insulting comments and that is one of the reasons this is such a special place. The volunteer moderators on the DIS are here to help keep us on track, so if you see any objectionable comments, please report them.

As always, we appreciate any information and comments about the Yacht Club, Beach Club and Beach Club Villas, good and bad. We know everything is not always butterflies and rainbows, so if you have something negative to comment about, that is fine, as long as it is done in a civil manner.

Thanks for your cooperation, everyone!

Thanks so much, Dee. And yes, you may add us to the BOG list! We will be there on April 21st. :cool1: I hope we do like the resort alot...it will be an alternative for future stays. :thumbsup2

Sounds like a plan as for my morning coffee...it's principally the morning I am interested in. :surfweb: We will have already left the resort mid-morning anyway, I imagine.

Thank you. It's been nearly 3 years since we last crossed paths. I was really pleased to see that you were still running the BC/YC thread.

Thank you for all your time and effort. :flower3:

So I made my ADRs today. And I'm pleased to say that I've booked in a breakfast at Cape May. In my opinion, it's one of the best breakfasts at the World; and much less busy than the ones in the parks.

We're going OOP. Given that we'll be there for Food and Wine, I figured we would be grazing a bit at Epcot and the DP just seem that bit more expensive now.

You are going to love it there!!! Especially if you enjoy Epcot!! Enjoy your vacation.

Dee, thanks for ticket help! I cannot PM anyone until I reach a certain number of posts. We will be at BC 5/19 to 5/22. Sunny today, still only high of 39!

Hi Dee,
I am another one who also took advantage of the 30% discount and booked the Yacht Club for our summer trip (celebrating daughter's 11th birthday).

We stayed at YC for the first time this past October and fell in love with the YC/BC. It bumped the Polynesian from it's long-standing first place position on my daughter's "favorite resort" list and she requested to stay at the YC again. We are going to try a lagoon/pool view this time. I hope we really get a lagoon view - I did add to our room request.

Was hoping you could add us to the BOG list, please - YC July 27 to Aug 3.

Thank you!:flower3:

My MIL happens lives in Florida, about 15 minutes away from WDW.

We are staying at BC at the end of August. On one of the nights we are there, DH and I have plans to go have dinner without the kids at Epcot. My MIL has offered to come and babysit them in the room for us that night.

I considered the Sandcastle club, but I would prefer to let the kids stay in the room so that they can get some much needed sleep. I have used Kids Nite Out before, and would again, but MIL really wants to spend the extra time alone with her grandchildren.

Can you have a visitor come to the resort for this purpose? Will she be able to park at BC just by saying that she is meeting her family who are resort guests?

Dee, just wanted to thank you for putting all the information together about room views. I love having a water view room, but couldn't get it at the YC with my new discount I got. We have a standard view, but who cares, I will be at Disney celebrating my retirement for the Walt Disney Company!! Thank you again for all the work you have put into this thread. Where in MA do you live? We just moved to TN from MA in Oct. to be closer to some of my grandchildren!!!

Follow-up question about Ale & Compass morning re-fill station:

Do they have cold drinks, too?
