Hi,

Just been catching up on the last 10 pages! And have seen a few comments about some not liking the ground floor rooms.

This was going to be one of my requests, whilst we love a full balcony, the fact we may not get one, I thought I would opt for ground floor and still have somewhere to sit in an evening, but my concern was, could it be on the front of the hotel, would not like that!
Also what is the bug situation like on ground floor, can they get under the door! Can those rooms be dark and cold?
Like I say, a full balcony would be lovely but I also just read about a gust seeing a child hanging over the balcony, I would never let my dd2 alone on the balcony but you never know, she is a whirl wind and will climb over anything!

My first and main request is a day bed, we have neither dd10 and she, along with us, will not share a bed with dd2!.
Should I put in for ground floor, we re booked in SV as Gv was not available when we booked way back in June last year, now all that's left is CL WV which is silly money.

We are going for 15 nights end of October and I am stressing already about not having a nice room. I've never been one to say I don't like that, can I have another room but may just have to!

Thanks

A standard view will be a parking lot or roof view. There are very few, if any, of these rooms on the first floor. You have many requests so there is a chance that not all of them will be met. Put the most important one first. As far as the daybed, I wouldn't fret about it. Just call housekeeping when you get into your room if it doesn't have a daybed and tell them you need a rollaway bed sent to your room.

Bugs on the first floor are not an issue unless you leave your patio door open.

Keep calling to see if you can change your reservation to a garden or water view. A room could open up.

As far as changing rooms ... that is not a problem. However, all standard view rooms are going to have a view of a roof or parking lot.

Just returned from BC. 6 nights in a Garden View Club level room. Had a FANTASTIC time. I'm organizing my thoughts and will post a review with a video of our room view a little later. Did all the parks via Disney transportation (no issues) , 6 TS restaurants, several great QS meals as well. Ended our trip with the Terrace Dessert Party at MK (highly recommend). The BC pool is to die for. I'm exhausted from this vacation. More to follow.

PS...We had a new towel animal creation each day from Mousekeeping that I took pics of as well. My kids loved these.

We are staying in a BC GV CL room in 12 days (yay!) I'd love to hear a little bit! Daybed? View? Proximity to everything? We are also trying the MK TT Dessert Party to see Wishes. I was wondering if it will be hard to get a spot to see the "show"? I'm glad you had a great time!

We've had ground floor rooms at both YC and BC. YC was a fantastic waterview and BC was a deluxe room. We never had any problem with bugs in the room, of course we NEVER left the patio door open.

Like Teena said keep checking - it's happened to me when I wanted to book BC and could only book YC and a week later BC was open, same thing with rooms views.

I too once saw a small child go over the balcony. Two adults were sitting with her but having coffee and talking - it took a minute and she was climbing on the chair and hanging over the balcony. I almost had a heart attack - thankfully it was only a second and the mom saw her and pulled her back.

HTH

We're back from our one night stay at the YC (moved on to the Grand Flor. after that), and overall, I was very impressed. :thumbsup2
I immediately loved the lobby, mainly because when you walk in, it smells like the Grand! :rotfl: There is an elegance to the area, and it was as quiet as I imagined it to be (we checked in at about 2:30 in the afternoon).

We booked a garden view and were given an upgrade of sorts..a water view, which actually turned out to be less than that because a large tree blocked the quiet pool we looked out on.:sad2: But the room was lovely, large enough and we also had a daybed which we didn't need (there were only two of us).

I found all the CMs we came in contact with to be very nice and helpful, and one young lady at the lobby concierge desk actually took us up to the concierge lounge to show us around when I asked to see it (for possible future trips in club level..:goodvibes)

We ate at the Captain's Grille and had a nice meal with good service. :thumbsup2 We made our meal from apps and loved everything we ordered!

Unfortunately, the weather did not allow us to swim in SAB or walking around the Boardwalk, but we did get to use the gym.

I like that you can get your early morning coffee in the little lounge in the lobby (Ale and Compass?).

The grounds are a lot bigger than I imagined, but the view over toward the Boardwalk Inn is gorgeous!

I think if we go back, we'll book club level. :goodvibes Why not?? :)

I have a GV room biked for November. We will be traveling with our 5 month old and have requested a pack and play. I would love a king bed and a balcony. Should I just request one or the other? Do all king GV rooms have a balcony?

Caught up through page 206:

This is a fabulous thread. I've spent the last couple of hours reading through and getting excited abour our upcoming stay which I just book for YC for 8/24-9/1. I am very excited about this! I've always wanted to stay at either YC or BC and it's finally working out. :cool1:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Let us know if you have any questions!

:cool1:

We'll be staying at the Yacht Club for our first offical family vacation from October 27 - November 3rd. We will also be celebrating our twins' 2nd birthday during our trip! Is there anything I should be aware of at the Yacht Club for a couple of crazy toddlers? Do they have guard rails that we can get for the beds?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:woohoo:

Hopefully someone has answers about the bed rails- we haven't used them. I have seen pictures of them used with daybeds, but not the regular beds.

Apologies in advance for this question that I am sure has been asked 29384 times on this FAQ. Could not seem to find an answer on the first page, though.

What do the best standard views at the YC consist of? Are they all exclusively roof/parking lot or do some catch a glimpse of trees/the quiet pool/landscaping/etc? Would you suggest any area(s) in particular?

I know that the garden view rooms are worth the upgrade, but this was the only room category available through a special promo.

Thanks in advance! :)

This is a really tricky question to answer, since it requires someone who has lots of experience with multiple rooms at the resort.

Some of the YC rooms (particularly upper floors) that overlook the parking lot may have a distant view of Wishes. Other than that, I'm not really sure where the "nicest" of the standard views are located.

Your best bet may be to request the location you want, rather than the view- near lobby, upper floor, close to BC, etc.

Just finished our anniversary trip and wanted to offer a few hotel comments. This was our first stay at an Epcot resort and I am glad that we choose the YC over the BC. The BC was filled to the brim with small children! Now I love kids, have a few of my own, but this was an anniversary trip!;). We had the same room set up as the pp with two queens and the day bed. Our view was overlooking the pool and gardens! Very nice! We didn't spend much time in the room so I am glad that I didn't do CL.

Housekeeping was so-so. They came in daily and cleaned up and left a few towel animals but I wish they would do a more thorough cleaning between quests. The bathroom floor could have been cleaned better, glasses had stuff on them, and the return air vent was filthy as was the table underneath the desk. After our third night, I called housekeeping and asked them to change the sheets and they said they would take care of it right away. It didn't get done until the following day which is the normal rotation.

I found the buses to be very off schedule. We would wait for 30 minutes and have two buses show up back to back. They really need to work on their timing.

We had a wonderful stay overall and if anyone has any questions, I will be happy to answer them!

Thanks for your review.

Thanks for the pics and review. I have been calling twice a day for the past 5 days to book 2 rooms with and awesome 60% code I have with no luck. I gave up this morning but after reading your post I called again and was able to book!! I cannot wait!

Congrats and :welcome:

When is your trip? Which resort?

Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list?

Does anyone know what time hurricane Hannah's is open until in mid may? Thanks!

BUMP!

Great question. Anyone know the typical hours for HH during the different seasons?

Does anyone know if valet parking is offered 24 hours? We will be arriving around midnight and would love to just valet that night and head to bed ASAP to hit Star Wars Weekend early the next morning. Will a valet person be available after midnight when we pull up? I know we'll be exhausted after working all day then 7 hour drive!

BUMP!

Another great question!

Hi everyone!! Bf and I are coming December 1-7th and I cannot wait. Staying at BC GV. Was hoping for YC but was all booked. We come every year but this is our first trip to see the Christmas decorations. I noticed the park hours are way shorter than our August trip hours. Any suggestions on what to do in the evenings? Thinking DTD and BW one night but what else to do. We don't have hoppers at this time but aren't opposed to adding it. Thanks!!!

:welcome: to this thread and to the DIS.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:yay:

Yes, things close much earlier in the winter months. I think someone later in the thread suggested park hoppers- EPCOT is open until 9 every night, it is a great place to spend evenings with a BC/YC resort stay.

Some people enjoy going over to Jellyrolls at the Board Walk

DTD stays open late

Resort Hopping to see the decorations at other resorts- take the monorail from Poly to GF to CR. Maybe a boat over to WL.

I am curious about our room configuration. I know there is a lot of discussion about daybeds in a room. Seeing as it is just my DH and I we obviously won't need one. Will there be a sofa in the room? I have heard that all room at BC have 2 queen beds, so I didn't even request a king.

Also, any ideas on how the buses will be running on May 24th, the 24 hour day. I had originally planned to spend the 24th at the Magic Kingdom, now I am a bit nervous about the crowds. However I am now thinking if we get to MK early on the 24th maybe the crowds won't be so bad. Do you think the Disney buses will be running as early as 5am?

Jan

I don't think there are sofas in most of the rooms. As you mentioned, some have daybeds, some don't.

There are a few (but not many) king beds at the BC. You could put in a request for one and it is possible, but not sure how likely. If you are also requesting a full balcony, your request could be worded

"Full balcony, please. King Bed if possible"

Not sure about the buses. Was anyone at Disney during the extra Leap Day last year?

Looks like Hurricane Hannah's and Boardwalk Bakery are both serving lobster rolls now. Can it get any better than that?

Since we are doing more cs restaurants this trip (so we could stay CL!) it seems like a win/win! Boardwalk Bakery looks like it has some great salads now too - and of course the bakery in France has lobster bisque soup too!!!

Teena - just to let you know I have my TA on alert for the Dessert Party for July 3rd. They are my absolute favorite fireworks, even better than Hallowishes (which was spectacular!).

Tell IPO to book you the Dessert Party!! And guess what? Our friend is working IPO today so give her a call. If she's not available when you call, quick fire her off an email and she'll call you right back.

There are very few King Bed rooms at the Beach Club. This is not a bookable category, so request only. Since you are also interested in a full balcony, my suggestion to you is

"Full balcony, please. King Bed if possible"

No idea how many (if any) GV rooms have full balconies/king beds.

Can anyone give me information about the Illuminations cruise? The website just takes me to the Yacht Club page. Any pricing info and reviews would be appreciated.

Sure... Total price is $346.13. It's a tour of the lake at the yacht club through to Hollywood studios. The tour ends at Epcot where you'll see the illuminations show. When booking, you ask for a 'specialty cruise', then state you want the tour at Epcot. You can say illuminations, but technically it's not an 'illuminations tour' because the cm will tell you the fireworks are not guaranteed. 10 people can be on the boat, and a tip to the captain is recommended. They give much Disney trivia during the tour. We've been on it twice and loved it. :)

I should have been more clear, we are at YC. So I a wondering if anyone knows of all GV rooms have balconies at the YC. Thanks.

Well, since you are staying at the YC, you don't need to request the balcony- I believe all but one room at YC has a full balcony or patio.

Do you have any location requests?

You certainly can request a King Bed- again, there are a few/not many at YC. Not sure how many of the GV rooms have king beds.

On Post 5 of this thread (Resort Amenities) there is a link to a trip report review of the Illuminations cruise

Illuminations cruises are also available for hire. Reservations are strongly suggested and can be booked by calling 407-WDW-PLAY.

Hi every one

I have a few questions. Is it possible to refill our mug at the new boardwalk bakery ?

I'll arrive at Yacht Club in august, the 5th. My plane is landing at 6 pm. I think we're going to eat at BC market place or in the boardwalk. How could we get our mugs ? I have the dining plan. With my key to the world, they give me my mugs ?

Thank you so much and you can correct my english if I made some mistakes.

:)

So we leave in 11 days for our first stay at BC. I am shipping a box of stuff for the baby and am wondering a few things. I read the sticky that says to make sure to ship by USPS so as to avoid the fee at the convention centers. If I ship by standard post I need it to go in the mail tomorrow as mail lady said 10 days to be safe. If I ship by priority I have a little bit more leeway. My question is if the package gets there early, where does it sit until I arrive? I read on another thread it has to go through some central place first and my concern is if it is sitting in the Florida heat for five days ( if package arrived early) the baby food and formula would be destroyed. I guess I assumed it went directly to Beach Club and than held there until I arrived and picked it up. And just a note, I did check GardenGrocer but their prices were more than double and even with the cost for me to ship Priority I will still be saving a significant amount.

Have you considered ordering through Garden Grocer? I have not done this, but many others on the thread have.

Here is what I just found on the Boardwalk Resort Thread regarding refillable mugs at the Boardwalk Bakery (in short "Yes" there will be a separate door you can enter in just to refill your resort mug):

For anyone with Twitter, @TouringPlans just posted a bunch of Boardwalk Bakery photos. They even have a special entrance just for refillable mug refills.

Peek inside (including guy with no shirt):

New menu:

https://twitter.com/touringplans/sta...31198506291201

They also posted pics of some of the food, pastries, etc. They also have gluten free baby cakes items now, as well as a quiche and soup of the day.

Still no indoor seating though!

This is my first year at the BC but I believe you can get your mugs from the Marketplace. You would just pick them up and go pay for them and swipe your card and they will come off your Dining Plan.

On a side note, my DD16 (soon to be 17) is heading to France with her grandparents in July! She is the first grandchild to go on a overseas trip. This will be her first time out of the United States and is just blessed to have such great grandparents!!!! She will be a total of 4 days in Paris (2 in the beginning and 2 at the end) and then will be traveling along the Seine River in between. If you have any tips, just PM me - thanks!

Are the sandwiches a counter service option?
