2013-14 Boston Bruins Thread (the offseason)

Looking forward to getting hockey back. I live 2 hours from Chicago so I don't get to a lot of games at the UC, however I have tickets for me, my son, and my daughter for the Hawks-Bruins matinee Feb. 22nd at 2 p.m. central time. Long time away, but I am really looking forward to it !

No-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no!!!!

Why Peter? Whyyyyyyyyyyyy? You had Krejci in a contract yr, in a year that you are short on offense. He would have to light it up to get his dollars up. Then you could have let him ride off into the sunset.

I know this is oversimplifying, but listening to the talking heads and all, I get the feeling you're the only Bruins fan who wants Krejci gone. I agree he shouldn't be higher than Bergy but that's the business. He does need to be more visible during the season.

Welcome aboard. I hope you decide to follow along when I start the 2014-15 thread. Good luck to your 'Hawks... Until April.

You can tell that hockey season is right around the corner. Not only are the Bruins at captains practices. Not only is Bergy plugging the latest EA hockey game with his perfect mug on it.

No... It's because I have spent the last 90 min at work, engaged in a twitter beef with a Habs fan who posted:

"You could probably put a screetching cat out on the BC ice to sing the anthem and it would still sound better than Rene Rancourt."

It's ON!

Now, I can only imagine the free flowing smack talking that will be taking place once there is action between the boards.

I've gotten used to Rene over the years, but when he first started I couldn't stand listening to him. I always felt he had a great voice but couldn't sing the anthem.

He's obviously trolling you, but still - too far, dude.

Oh yes he did.

Just think, it is only a couple of weeks til the 1st pre-season game and then October is here. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Behind the B was a good show. I liked the internal ripping on each other, and the fear that appeared in every Bruin's eyes, whenever the strength and conditioning coach walked in the room. I hope it comes back for a 2nd season.

We asked, they answered. I just saw on the Bruins website that Season 2 begins on Monday Sept 15th. Gonna DVR it this time.:yay:

The NHL just announced the new rule changes for this season including fines for players (and their coaches) who dive or embellish. But on T&R on 98.5 today I heard these fines will only be levied after the call is made on the ice

This is a joke as we all know that diving is rarely ever called, so nothing will change.

Here is my suggestion. Give the teams a replay challenge for penalties where diving or embellishment is a factor. Then one of three outcomes occurs.

1. Call on the ice stands

2. Call stands but embellishment call is added to even up the sides.

3. Call on ice is overturned and penalty is now called on the diver.

Let option 3 happen in critical moments a few times and the divers will start getting the message.

Those new diving/embellishment rules could really impact the play of Marchand.

:lmao::lmao:

Maybe... But it's a good thing PK got that raise this year. He might be hitting up the ATM on a weekly basis. And Therrien must've been standing in a puddle when this news broke.

I had a chance to see the rookies yesterday, you have some very good players in the pipelines. They were beasts in terms of size. They didn't win though against the panthers, I believe the score was 3-1. I was impressed though by them.

Thanks for the report. There is some good young talent that I am looking forward to seeing during the pre-season games.

Well, today has been a weird day for our friends from the Great White North. It seems that Montreal has taken the worst idea in Bruins history, and kicked it up a notch. Instead of having 1 C and 2 A's, they are going to have 4 A's. Markov and Plekanec will wear their A's full time. Subban and Pacioretti will alternate the same way Kelly and Krejci did last year. Michel... If you can't make up your mind, make it simple. Have a team vote. If I didn't know better, I'd almost think he would try to sneak an extra "letter" into the game so that he can have 1 more person to approach the referee semi-circle.

And in yet even WEIRDER news, Chad "OchCinco" Johnson (not our goalie from last year) has said that he wishes that he could suit up with the Habs so that he could take on Z and Looch in a fight.

Chad Johnson @ochocinco · 2h

As NHL training camp approaches I want to suit up for the HABS so I can fight Chara & Lucic...

Not sure if this is pure delusion or what, but that would be such an onslaught, I'd feel bad for 85.

Just watched Behind the B; and before the episode, I liked Pastrnak and Miller. After... I LOVE THEM! I can't wait for the season to start. Seids is looking good.

After the captain's practice, I'm left with a few images. First, it kills me to see 22 in the Cats sweater. 2, Yandle looked soooooo comfortable with the B's. I know there is a surplus of d-men, but he'd look so good in black and gold. Finally, Big Z talking about his vactation in Tahiti, unfortunately makes me think speedo; and even worse... the ESPN magazine "The Body" issue, featuring Chara.

Insert traumatic, in the fetal position emoticon HERE.

And the shots keep flying from our Montreal friends.

HERE is a twitter post from Lars Eller. Let me know if this kind of gets your ire up, like it does me?

Why does Eller even HAVE Pevs bag? Considering what Pevs is going though, that's pretty low, even for a Hab.

Did you notice on Behind the B the huge guy in the boxing ring (can't think of his name). He's Chara 2.0

Hey guys, I realize this is I hate Montreal , but can you read the date?? it is 2013 :rotfl2:

This gets your ire up? :rolleyes1, or are you reaching here.
