Just got back from my second post-marathon run. I ran 2 miles on Thursday and four today.

I'm pleasantly surprised with how well I'm doing. I'd been battling some IT pain just prior to the marathon that seems to be okay now, and so I'm just dealing with residual shin tenderness from my accident on 11/27.

My endurance is very high, and I can't wait to start training for my spring race (Cherry Blossom 10 miler). I'm definitely still taking it easy while I let my body recover.

Glad to hear it's going well for you! DH and I went out for a run today. We did 5 miles at a much faster pace than we'd been training at for Goofy just because we both felt so great. It was nice to get back out and everything seems to be working well! My next goal is to set a PR in a half so I'll be pushing my pace while maintaining my endurance.

Sounds like everybody is doing good.

This 61.5yo is doing OK after my 2nd Dopey.

Went out yesterday for an easy 3.5 miler. Today went out for a 56 mile bicycle ride. Tomorrow at 6:00AM DW, she did Donald, and I go out for an easy 5K. Then at 10:00AM I'll meet with a friend and will get about 65 bicycling training miles in for our March 25th 1/2 Ironman Duathlon.

Getting older and proud of it.

I am not really following a specific recovery plan. The general rule of thumb is take a day of recovery for every mile of the race. That means no intense running workouts but allows for ramping up running. from slow easy runs back up to full training in the month.

I on the other hand kicked off P90x-2 yesterday. Felt like I needed to modify some of he plyo today...

I went for my first two post-Disney runs this week. Thursday for 3.65 miles and today for 5.5 miles. Both went very well. I feel pretty recovered from the Disney Half. I was supposed to run another HM today but the race was postponed until the 21st due to the weather. So I will have another week to recover which can only be a good thing.

I have a bit of a cold so hopefully the extra week will give me time to get rid of the cold before I have to run my next race.

I've been recovering by walking around the parks all week! I'm signed up to run a 1/2 on Saturday, so I plan to take that at a nice, slow recovery pace.

Did the Donald in a personal best and now have started My Marathon training for my March race. Ran 16 miles yesterday just under 8 minutes per mile. Got to work on slowing down the pace. Feel pretty good though. Got another Half next week. Also have the Princess. Love running.

Wow I feel lazy compared to everyone else! :rotfl2:
I actually feel pretty good. Since my biggest issues in the marathon were heat and mis-management of fluids (I way overhydrated), my legs weren't nearly as sore afterwards as I expected. :thumbsup2
I took a week off. We flew home late Monday night and I had to be at work at 7am Tuesday so I gave myself permission to take it easy all week. I'm starting tomorrow night with my running group again but I'll go out with the slowest group. I'm signed up for a half marathon on April 15th so I want to make sure I maintain my training until I'm ready to start ramping up.

Recovery has been slow....finally did some reading today, and at my age, 14 days of relaxed activity is in order. So, this week I have used a stationary bike four times and done two easy runs, one on the treadmill and today, I ran outside for the first time since my C + D relay Sunday. Wierd concidence today....my pace was identical to my race pace. I do not have any race plans for 2012 except a fall half marathon, may be at Disneyland or perhaps The W & D half in November. I do plan to attempt Goofy next year so that is the focus.
Happy Running!
Pam

I'm recovering really well from the half marathon - it's been a sinus infection that finally blew up after the half was over that's been rough for me (I'm so grateful it waited until after the half marathon to get bad!). My 5K on Monday was awful since I couldn't breathe well and couldn't stop coughing. My 5K on Thursday was much better, and yesterday I did 4 miles and felt fairly good. I still can't shake the cough from the sinus infection, but my legs are doing pretty well.

We'll see how I do in 2 weeks when it's time to do 12 or 12.5 miles again. LOL

After running my marathon, I now have 6 weeks to train for my fourth Princess Half. Today my legs are feeling the "I need to get out and run", but my mind is saying wait until it warms up a bit so hopefully I'll get out for 6 miles in a little while.

The biggest issue I have is my dreams. Every night I dream about the marathon, but everything is foggy and it is only parts of the race and almost like I am looking at it from the outside. Just strange. I had no pre-race dreams.

I did the Goofy for the first time this year and have to say that I don't feel any worse having run back to back races than I did when I ran my first full last year by itself. I did take the half easy - lots of walk intervals and stopped for a bunch of pictures. I also didn't commit to finishing the full in a specific time but did much better than I thought I would have.

I had some shin pain after the race and on Monday but it's all cleared up. I haven't gone running yet but will give it a try this weekend! I'll be in the gym for my first workout since the race and I think it will go well. I'm glad to hear that most people are feeling pretty good!
