2012 "What's on National's Emerald Aisle?"

Typically, no. You can expect a full size or better for the midsize price. Again, it all depends on how busy we are.
Congrats on your Executive status!! :)

Thanks! I know nothing is a guarantee :) It is October so hopefully "off-season" will give me a little bit of an edge.

Executive is great. Using it in Vegas in 3 weeks and hoping for a convertable :car:

Actually, the less busy we are the more likely you will see full size cars and that is about all. The more busy we are tends to pull anything to keep the aisle full, but NO guarantees...ok?. Tonight that included Camaros, converts, some cross overs, small Suvs. We have over 1300 cars go out today, it was crazy.
Good luck on the convertable in 3 weeks. I don't know how the aisle works in Vegas. But, if it is anything like Orlando, they tend NOT to put converts out on either aisle unless they are in "crazy mode".

We are there at 11 tonight, this is our first National rental. Hope all goes well.

About a week ago we picked up a GMC Terrain from the EA.

We were really surprised at the selection.

Thanks for all the inside scoop!
We have a MiniVann reserved for Sat. Arriving at 3 pm....
have you had any cases of there being no minivans available for the people who specifically reserved them? Can't help but worry!

We picked up from the aisle at MCO side A on Tuesday 3/27 @ 8:00 pm. There were 5 Impalas and that was all. Not complaining at all, but of course I was hoping for choices....maybe I will have better luck next time:)

Not yet. If there are no mini vans on the row at National(have never seen it happen), we can always get you one from Alamo. Same company, same vehicles.

Yes, we have had to do this in the past. The agent just sent us to Alamo and told us to select from there and told us to tell the rep at the Kiosk that "mat" told us to select from there. It worked great.

The fact that you've never seen it happen puts my mind at ease!
Leaving for MCO in the morning and now I won't spend the night worrying about it!

On my last WDW trip last May 2011, I arrived to a nearly empty EA ( it was just before mem. day weekend ) There were quite a few attendants working to bring up cars for the aisle, when one of them said to me " please, take whatever car you wish from any lane" I told them I had EA & he saw me with my 2 kids & told me maybe a mini van would work for me.....I told him I didn't pay for that & he said take whatever you want...So we did & got an almost new mini van with @ 150 miles on it for the price of a midsize.....

He told me that when they park the cars there is no system to tell where they will be upon checkout - that many luxury cars are often on the EA b/c those cars go the quickest & there are usually open parking spots there, while the luxury and expensive class cars have no open spots when they bring them up from cleaning them...So they just drop em' off at the EA..... He was very nice & even helped me load the mini van - it's just 1 of the reasons we ALWAYS rent from national!! - plus their cars are IMMACULATE!

Matt is a great guy. One of my favorite managers (not an agent). And yes, we do direct people to Alamo if it happens we don't have a specific reserved vehicle available. Happens now and then with the Luxury, Premium and SUV's.

That information is not quite accurate. We rarely put Luxury, Premium or converts on the EA or EE. And, yes, there is a system for knowing what is going out of the EA or EE. And, no they don't just drop them off, there is a person assigning cars to the proper places. If there are no spots for the Luxury or more expensive cars, they go into "overflow" until needed.
The drivers are not authorized to assign cars to the renters. Unless you see someone with a National name tag on or an Alamo name tag or a name tag that would designate an employee of National or Alamo, don't listen to them, they are NOT employed by National or Alamo. They are employed by an outside firm to DRIVE CARS and to park them where they are assigned to park them. Our exit agents know what cars are supposed to be on the EE or EA and they know if we are short on the other rows. PLUS, the computer knows what should be let out as a no charge upgrade.
I am glad you find our cars Immaculate. One part of my job is to check them out and send them back if they are not cleaned properly. I sent 4 back today.

Hopefully next time you will have better luck, but, if the same thing happens, let the greeter know. He/she can direct you to Alamo's full size aisle for a better selection, or to National's full size aisle. We want you 100% satisfied. :)

Is it possible to have 2 reservations ?
first is a Mid-size car reservation to be used in Exec Aisle and the second one is a Premium car reservation.

So let say if i look around in Exec Aisle and found nothing that I like, I'd go to Premium Aisle and drive out with my premium reservation instead.

Would I get charged a penalty for the unused one ?

Thanks.

They could charge you 50.00 for the unused one if you don't cancel 24 hours in advance. Read the policy on cancelled reservations. From the "help" area of the National site.
"Is There a Cancellation Fee?

•Guaranteed Reservations: Cancellations are accepted up to one calendar day before reservation date. If the reservation is not cancelled, a No Show Fee of $50.00 (plus applicable taxes, surcharges, and lessor fees) will be charged to the credit card on the Guaranteed Reservation.
•"No show"Customers: If the reservation is not canceled within 24 hours of the booked arrival time, National will charge a fee on the renter's credit card for vehicles that are reserved but not rented.

Thanks...

What would be on the full size row? Impala's?

Impalas, Malibus, Fusions, Camary, Chargers, Altimas, Galants, Mazda6,Sonatas. Depends on the day and the amount of rentals as to what will be available. NOT all listed are available at all times. The list is representative of the cars we carry. We do NOT make guarantees of any specific brand of cars. We do, however, try very hard to accomodate requests for something specific. When we list a car, for example, a full size, we show a picture of an Impala and underneath it says "or similar". Sadly, not many people see that "or similar" statement.
