If you add non DVC people to the list, please add us :) We are going July 14th - 20th in a 2 bedroom. It will be me, DH, two sons (7 & 3), in-laws and my Mom. This is our first visit to HH and we are really excited ... and starting to look for tips and suggestions. I know we will be taking a day trip to Savannah and I want to do a dolphin tour, but otherwise, it's up in the air. I'd love restaurant suggestions too!

Thanks
Of course, all are welcome!:)

Thanks for the Crazy Crab recommendation, I remember seeing that advertised but we have never eaten there. Definitely will put it on the list, seems great for kids.

I would be happy to do a trip report for May when we get back.

As for the weather, we have been in May and the end of April in the past and the weather has been beautiful. Definitely swimming weather for the beach and the pool. We leave in 2 days! :yay:

Yes Tink, please post a report if you can when you return. We head down in just over 3 weeks for our first trip and I'm trying to soak up everything i can in the time we have left!! :D I've been reading about dolphin tours through this company or that company, still trying to find waverunners that we can rent to just ride (can't do a tour as we have more kids than adults). Hope you have fun!!

Mark

Conan,

Thanks for some of those tips from a local!! I'll definitely research some of those restaurants. We don't want anything too upscale as we have 4 kids under 10 so fancy isn't really an option for us... We need fun, relaxed atmospheres for lunches and dinners!! :) I'm still trying to find a place to rent a waverunner that isn't a tour... :S We can't do a tour as with 2 littler kids we can't get them all on 2 wave runners...

Thanks again,
Mark

Your best best is to talk to Mike. He knows everything and is very friendly.

Our child is 16, so, we don't know that much about things for the smaller ones.

The stuff about the Grill there at the resort still stands.

However, where most people buy groceries?

There is Piggly Wiggly, however, when we were at HHI last time we went to Publix and got stuff. That was six years ago though - and it's hard to find since it's set back off the road a bit and they can't have large signs anywhere on the island. It's a little bit farther from the resort heading back towards the mainland.

Our family is not big "foodies", we are more into the atmosphere (think Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood etc). Anyway, we LOVE the Salty Dog Cafe. Decent food, cool atmosphere and near an area that is neat to walk around.

Hey everyone. This will be our first 4th of July at HHI and I have a couple questions about the beach. How does Disney make sure that only guests access the beach? Also, do they have chairs and umbrellas or do you have to bring your own? Any help would be great :)

The beach is a public beach really....many other resorts are beachfront, plus other areas of public access. Only Disney guests can access the Beach House. There are chairs n umbrellas to rent or you can bring your own.

How much are the rental fees?

we will be there June 4-9, It will be my husband and myself along with son almost 16, his best friend 15, and our daughter who is 8 going on 20... We have stayed at Hilton head before in other condos but there is our 1st DVC stay on the island, only a few more weeks- getting very excited!:beach:

maybe we will cross paths during our visits!

Hi there! So sorry I have not replied to you!! Yes, I hope we will cross paths! My DD16 Megan is hoping she meets some other kids her age to hang out with, but she is not the type to approach someone, so I am not sure how that will happen for her! DS12 Evan, however, will talk to anyone and makes friends easily! I think we will be at the pool a lot but since we have never been there, I am just not sure! We leave a week from today!! We are getting so excited!! :cool1:
Hope to see you soon!! :goodvibes

One of my waitlisted nights came through, so now we're only paying cash for one night-woohoo $360 back in our pocket!

We just booked a one bedroom for December 30-January 5. Can't wait to spend New Years at HHI. Anyone know of anything special that they do?

We just booked 12/29 to 12/31. Leaving on New Years Eve to head home to the family. Very excited to try out Hilton Head. We are stopping there on our way home from Disney.

I guess we will be there at the same time. We are doing a week there on our way to Disney. Have you heard about anything fun to do for New Years? I called the resort and they said they do a pool party that night with a DJ and stuff so that should be fun.

so excited to leave tomorrow for this long awaited vacation:beach:! We are driving down tomorrow and staying at the Hampton Inn on Hilton Head until we move to DVC HHI on Monday. Our travel party has grown, my son's friend and my niece are now joining us~ glad for the 2 bedroom villa and the Hampton's family suites~ now just to get this group on the road:drive: and headed to a week of fun and relxation!!

Hope to meet some of my fellow DVC'ers there :thumbsup2

Just checked in today. Love the view from our room. We are in Bldg. 11. We have a great water view all the time. The only down side is we can hear the A/C's running when on the deck. Not a big deal to me. I'm trying to do a live TR from there but won't have any pics until we get home. Hope yall will check in on it. And can't wait to see all the other dissers that check in on sun.
