2012 Destashing Thread

I got rid of 4 more items medium toys. Its suppose to rain tomorrow or this weekend. I'm kinda hoping it does because people will be browsing CL-lol!

I'm on vacation starting monday so hopefully I can start organizing the garage. The next couple of weeks are going to be crazy and busy!!!!

I went through our bedroom this week, just off and on when I had a few minutes and I've nearly filled a large disney shopping bag with stuff to donate. There are plenty of things left in our room that I'll probably end up tossing in there before I drop it off.

I also went through the boys closet and pulled a large bag of stuff to take over to OUAC. Most all of it is NWT so hopefully they will want it.

I need to get into my YDD's room and make some hard decisions. Her room is just unmanageable but I'm not sure what to do about it.

I'm officially on vacation so I will try getting some more decluttering done.
I have a box of stuff that I need photos of to list on CL and while I'm in there I'm going to try and straighten up my the other pile of junk we have.

Dh will be watching the game tomorrow UCLA vs USC so I will be decluttering.

It's suppose to rain here so I'm hoping more people will be browsing CL. The $$ I made lastweek went toward my CC bill which was nice to pay off one of my lil creditcard balance.

anyone else decluttering this weekend?

Not necessarily today, but I am off this week and hope to wrap up my craft room, desk space and do some maintenance on my clothes closet.

I passed on 4 Disney Christmas ornaments after we got done decorating to a couple that moved and got rid of most of theirs. pirate:

A few days ago I threw away one of those suction cups baskets we had in our shower that just would not stay up!

A white shirt that some how had got little pin holes in it. :laundy:

I gave away some thick socks to a lady that works in a store that is always cool.

Pretty sure thats all I got. :coffee:

How about you?popcorn::

Fight on!

lol! Dh is a ucla fan.

my dd13 heard me and she came in and said alonf with the hand cheer movements ..
U-C-L-A!!!!!

ok time for me to hit the garage. I keep telling dh lets cleanout and organize the garage so he can turn it in to a Dodger/UCLA space-lol Anything to get that garage clean-lol!

Update: I must have been in ther 15- 20 mins. Dh throws his work clothes(dirty, oily, smelly) in a pile in the garage on a rack i have in there. Plus he had some of his regular clothes in there. I gues when he does the lawn when he's done he throws his sweaty shirts in the pile. Well i seperated it all into 3 piles work pants, work shirts and reg clothes. He also had a pile of get rid of stuff so i put those in boxes Large and X=L . Well i came in for 5 mins and went back out and he put his work clothes and reg clothes back in one pile uugh i guess he thought he was helping me.
I also found 2 snuggies, 2 old comforters, 1 sheet , 1 old blanket and 2 throws. Well the snuggies and throws are still good so those are in the wash. I ended up using 1 sheet and 1 comforter to hide my pile of boxes so the neighbors dont see all the mess. I have all my boxes of items i'm selling on CL on a table and under the table and behind all that there's a lot of stuff dh put back there . I dont have a way to get there because the sides are blocking it with heavy stuff. I ended up giving up not worth the stress or argument-lol!

Spare room- I removed a large storage tub , plastic shoe box lids, some old projects, papers, packages of plastic and boxes. Spare room is just about completed. I just need to cleanout and organize my dest drawer and clean the windows and blinds. When I do that I will be tossing out the old outdate floral valance-lol! My room looks so wonderful when I walk in. The energy just feels so good:goodvibes

Kitchen-I noticed container of over the counter meds. I went through it and got rid of several expired meds.

CL - is on hold. Everyone is waiting fir the Black Friday deals so no one is buying but everyone is selling-lol!

I cleaned out my kitchen cabinets, pantry and the drawers in the coffee table over the last 2 days. I have a bag of trash, several items for goodwill and a huge sack for the food pantry. It feels good to get this stuff under control. I am hoping to get the living room ready for the christmas tree today.

I'm sure no one has been decluttering these past few days-lol!

Dh bought a wall hook thingy. I asked him what is was for and he said to organize his belts because the belts are on his closet floor.:cool1::cool1: Dh finally did something to organize without me telling him -lol!

We went to Big Lots on Wed night. We werent even going to go but i needed 3 different bottles of spices and I was going to pay $3-$4 for these Thanksgiving spices. I happened to walk in and glanced quicky and something caught my eye. The worker was putting together a kitchen island and it's a dark cherry . We've been looking for something that color for a lil space in our space between the dining/kitchen. Well its a lil section of wall then it connects to the sliding glass door. Well it was 42inches wide and fits perfct without blocking the slider door.
Anyways I havent decide what to store in it but it will be will use it to organize................
-napkins, paper plates, forks , spoons, foil etc
or
-tupperware, plastic bowls, larger pots
or
-some items i had in the panty and then I will use empty pantry shelves to store roaster oven and crockpots.

Dh will put up outdoor xmas stuff and I will put up indoor decorations. I've several x-mas ceramic items I use as decorations like: ceramic present box with lids, santa boot, knitted stocking over a plastic stocking shape, santa head, snowman head all these can be used to hold chocolated/candy so I might get rid of these for lil gifts. Items were only used as display and in good condition.

I'm also thinking of going through my xmas stuff and getting rid of outdated stuff.

Completely cleaned out my little boy's room. Got two boxes of clothes and toys to sell on my FB yard sale site. My daughter's room is in desperate need of a cleaning/decluttering and I've told her no Christmas decorating in there until it is done. She is mad over that, so hopefully we can get in there tomorrow after church and start working. We have Thanksgiving at the in-laws today, so I've got to finish cooking my part of things and get ready to go. No time for decluttering today.

We put the new Christmas tree together last night, but haven't dug out the decorations yet. I am going to sell any decorations that we haven't used in the last couple of years. No sense in keeping them if we aren't using them.

Really, really need to work on our master bedroom, but I always leave that til last so it never gets done. I really want that finished before Christmas.

Wow! I'm impressed!
I haven't been able to get much done here. I got rid of another pair of shoes that I never wore, and 2 shirts, but that's it. I tried to schedule a pick up for the stuff I've set aside, but the earliest anyone could come out was Dec18!! Too long -- so I'll have to drop it off myself somewhere.

You are inspiring me to try to get something done this week!!

I'm sitting here surfing the net while dh is watching football:crazy2: so I decided to check thie dis MB and rading your post just inspired me to go straighten up my bedroom-lol!

I wanted to organize the pantry and the new island cabinet dh bought but He's not sure if he's going to changeout he handles. I'm amazed he already put it together must be because I told him it will be completed in a month cause that how long he will take- I used reverse psychology on him -lol! :rotfl2: in his book he completed quick to prove me wrong-lol!

I'll be back to post what I get rid of in my bedroom

We've got our house decorated for Christmas inside and out. That means that we totally cleaned before decorating and I threw out broken decorations as I came across them. We also cleaned the fridge. The house looks awesome and I'm feeling like we accomplished so much this weekend :cool1:

purged 2 sets of dishes, a box of kids books and some clothes.

Hopefully DH will take 2 weeks off at Christmas and we can get some stuff done in the basement.

:thumbsup2

Dh put up our xmas lights and I wanted to put up the tree but dd's bday is coming up. The forecast shows rain so dh said no tree because we might need the extra space indoors for guest. W might even have to move the couches so we can put tables inside. I sure hope it doesnt rain!!!

I will be giving the fridge a good cleaning along with the stove grides. I also want to clean the stove burners so I need to look up what type of amonia to use someone fromt this board mentiond it.

Cleaned the master bedroom and removed 4 pairs of pants. I need to go through my undergarment and sock drawer and removed 1 grocery bag of trash.

Sorted my knitting/sewing/fabric bin. Got rid of 9 patterns and one skein of yarn. The rest went into a cabinet so I emptied a show box size bin and a large plastic bin, which cleared off a shelf in the basement.

Sorted games and puzzles, got rid on one game and have a few more to go. But was able to condense and reorganize what we have and emptied 1 shelf in my Besta cabinet. WOOHOO!!

And DH did get the 2 weeks off so we are going to do some major end of the year purging.

I just got rid of 4 pairs of shoes. 2 pairs of adults and 2 pairs of girls shoes and made some money:cool1: I alnmost got rid of another pair but I forgot it at home:sad2:

It just motivated me to go organize my big pile of CL items to sell. I have some pictures i need to take and post.

My goal for the weekend
-shredd paper- completed. got rid of 1 1/2 pullout trash can that comes w/shredder
-organize CL pile into boxes by category
-take pics for CL
I also got rid of a small trash can of mail inserts, envelopes and trash. I also cleared the scrap of papers on my office table. I also had dh get rid of his newspapers that he throws under our glasstop den coffee table(drives me nuts) I have a decorative box under the glass top that hold coupons. I told dh if he is going to get the paper he needs to toss it out or stack it in a nice pile cause i'm tired of it all scattered under the glass table top . I also got rid of 13 old empty RX pill bottles

anyone decluttering or organizing tonight??? Its rainy here so staying home

Wish I had seen this thread earlier, for some moral support! In August, I was faced with cleaning out 50 years of accumulation at my parents' home and decided I was crazy not to attack my own, too. Still have lots to do for my mother's house, but I have been "apprenticing" at my own home, first. With the help of a couple of great kids, I have cleaned out a literal couple of truckloads of "stuff" from the basement and garage that travelled straight to the dump. Determined to make my life less stressful, sacks and sacks, boxes and boxes of "things" went directly to Goodwill or SA. Other items, that I don't want to occupy my home or garage any longer, but too large for me to transport to Goodwill, were listed as free on CL and now have new homes. I feel so much better and although I still have lots to do at my parents' home, I am now energized to get it finished and move forward. Thanks, again, for all the inspiring stories. I read this thread until early-thirty this morning, feeling so good that others are doing the same as I. :goodvibes

PS I especially appreciated the "got rid of the wedding dress" post. I have been wondering what I should do with mine and now I have some confirmation that it is just an out-of-date dress and removing it from my life is acceptable. :thumbsup2

Wow what a job you have. Keep going you can do it!!:cool1:

Ladies keep up the great work, you're all doing an awesome job!!

Destashing/decluttering the bedrooms and closets this fall sure has helped keep the house clean.

I just pulled out all of the Christmas stuff. I would like to purge about half. Anyone have any tips on this?? Seems like I always have a hard time with the Christmas stuff, I'm so sentimental about ornaments etc from years past.
