Ok, we ALMOST bought a new Pilot, but I couldn't pull the trigger, just don't like the way it looks....

So, today I found a 2012 Traverse 2LT- leather, seats 8, has NAV and 2 sunroofs...everything we want. Drives like a dream. only 15k miles on it. Mechanic says it looks brand new..

So, I need advice from my lovely Dis'ers on who has one and do they love/hate it?

We have had great luck with GM products.. The dealer is hard to budge with. They are at 29,600 but NADA is at 27,750....

I dont have a Traverse, but I was car shopping recently and that was in my top 3. Unfortunately after reading the service bulletins for the 2012 dh said no way are we buying one. Definitely check them out before making your decision.

I currently have a 2012 traverse (9200 miles) and we luv it... Prior to this we never had bought an American car so we have been pleased... I can't speak to the previous posters comments about issues as we have had none thus far...:thumbsup2

If the dealer is 2K over NADA and won't budge, I would leave the car on the lot and move on to others.

I may be out of the loop, but couldn't you get a new Traverse for slightly more? Wouldn't there be end of model year rebates or low interest financing.

After my parents sinking 12K in repairs into a Ford Windstar and my 2008 GM SUV blowing the transmission, we don't follow what the Big 3 does anymore and buy "foreign" cars made in the US.

I own a Chevrolet and I will never, ever buy another one. EVER! we have two Hondas too that have never had any trouble. I will NEVER own a Chevy again.

Things we have repaired over the past few years: fuel gauge, tail gate lift & lock system, power window motor(s), air condition sensor & motor, power seat, I could go on and on. If it was not paid off I would sell it. I average a $500 car repair every 6 months or so and I'm lucky if I can go a year. . :furious:

We have also had several stupid minor things happen to this SUV. Like driving down the road one night my blinker light on the mirror just fell off. It had never been hit or anything.

Never again!

I lease a 2012 Chevy Traverse and I love it!! The only thing that went wrong for me is 2 flat tires from driving over a screw once and a nail once. We have had it almost 2 years

We had a 2011 Chevy traverse and had nothing but problems with it! I only owed it a year and half and got rid of it! It was in the shop 14 times! For big repairs! Power steering, brakes, coil packs, sensors and the list goes on and on. The car if we had kept it would have become a giant money pit! Got a Honda instead:)

I don't have a Traverse, but I have a 2010 Enclave with is basically the same thing. Mine is fully loaded and we LOVE IT! We've had it for a year and haven't had any problems with it.

We lease a 2013 LS and so far we love it. The only complaint in the MPG

My family pretty much exclusively drives Chevy. My mom's car for several years now has been the Traverse--she currently has a '12 model, but has had earlier models as well. She's a big fan of her Traverse--hasn't even looked into getting a different car since she first started driving them. She just purchases a new Traverse when she decides to trade up.

Between the 4 drivers in our family, we also own 3 Chevy Impalas. You could say we're a fan of Chevrolet products...but we've never had a problem with any of them.

My family pretty much exclusively drives GM also. I have a 2008 Malibu which I just paid off, and still love. My sister has a 2011 Traverse that she's never had the first problem with. My dad has a 2010 Silverado duramax diesel, and my mom drives a 2012 Cadillac CTX, as well as a 1998 Malibu for every day errand running. We're all very happy with all of our cars.

I was exactly the same as you - I had a Honda Accord for 11 years, wanted to get a Pilot but hate the new body style. I got a 2012 Traverse in Oct. - I like it but I don't love it. I like that I can fit 8 people in it and things like that but to me it isn't made very well. I haven't had mechanical problems yet but one week after I got it the floor mat lock broke and stupid things like that - the plastic on the doors scratches easy and things like that.
If I had to do it again I would learn to love the newer Pilot body style. I loved my Honda never had problems and I have been less than impressed with my Traverse.

Bought our 2011 Traverse in Sept 2010. Love it, have had no problems at all it now has 45k miles on it.

Wow! Such varied responses! This one is unique as it has leather, bench seat, 2 sunroofs, and and Nav.

New that would be 37k, so out of our price range even with gm discount.

What mpg have you got?

I wonder about resale value...,,

I got about 17 mpg around town sometimes worse:(. And 22 mpg on the highway if we were lucky:(. It was really bad on gas:( my Honda odyssey gets 31 mpg! On the highway and has sooooo much more storage space! I am so glad we traded the traverse in when we did friends who have the same car are having major issues with theirs too:(. Not sure why the car gets such high reviews?

I have a 2010 traverse, bought it factory used 2 years ago.

Current issues that need to be repaired:
A/C only blows on the floor boards and defrost, the dash panel vents don't blow at all. BIL is a mechanic and says it sounds like the actuator and is costly

Windshield washer fluid system is not functioning (maybe disconnected somewhere?, underneath the hood gets soaked so I know fluid is coming out somewhere, just not on the windshield

Mpg dropped drastically, seemingly overnight (went from getting about 360 miles per tank to 250 miles per tank, air filter was changed recently too). Recently reset the traction control system as that seemed to be related, although I have no idea why. So far it seems to have helped some.

DH was driving it a few weeks ago and the truck shimmied, shook and downshifted. Truck wouldn't accelerate faster than 25 mph. DH was pulling into traffic when this happened and was almost hit. Web searches have turned up similar complaints with little satisfaction on repairs for various reasons to blame. Problem? Codes don't show a problem so they claim to not know the cause.

FIL is a manager at the local Chevy dealership. The last few vehicles for us have been Chevys. We have had problems with all of them. Never again. Ever. I was a Honda girl before giving them a shot. Actively looking to trade for another Honda despite the fact that I will lose out on trade. That's the other problem: Chevys do not hold their value.

I got a 2012 Traverse, fully loaded..but we have captains chairs for the 2nd row. We absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I got mine in December so haven't had it a year yet but no issues so far. We have always bought Chevy as a relative retired and we get the discount. Never had any issues with Chevy vehicles and have always have them 5 plus years.

I have the 2 sunroofs...but if you are not aware, the 2nd one doesn't open...just for sunlight. Kids were a little disappointed with that...but they love the dvd player and the fact that they can listen to whatever station they want in the back while mom and dad jam to something else. Also, they have their own tempature controls.

We are putting it on the auto train in December and heading to Disney...can't wait. We only have 2 kids so will put the seats down and load her up!!! haha

I think with any car from any maker you can always get a bad one...just like anything you buy. If the deal is good I don't think you will be disappointed. I put a ton of miles on a vehicle so I typically buy new so don't have any suggestions on buying used.

Good luck in your decision!!

We have a 2008 Acadia that we have had close to 6 years. Same basic car. Ours is AWD and gets 17 MPG around town and typically 21 on the highway. Did get 24 on one trip, but it was all flatland.

We've replaced the water pump ($350) and a set of tires ($800) in 82,xxx miles. Other than that, just filter & fluid changes.

Can they listen to station without headphones on or with? Would that muddle the noise? This doesn't have DVD player and the price was ridiculous, but it has everything else and is certified. Its funny how people never report Honda's problems and I know they have them.

We have a 2005 buick and have had zero problems with it....

They are at 29k and 0% financing- do you think that is fair? The way this is optioned- there isn't another one like it around...

They have to use their headphones but they are wireless which is a good thing. Ours has an electrical plug like you have in the house and my 7 year just thinks that is the best thing HAHA!!!.

That sounds like a good price....I paid 45K for mine fully loaded...running boards, gps, leather, heated and cooled seat.. if that gives you any price point. I got 72 months interest free.

Honestly, my hubby is a sports car kind of guy...he has a corvette and Camaro plus his pick up truck. He LOVES driving my traverse. And my best friend has one too ...she gave up a Tahoe for it and her kids (who are 16 and 18) say the traverse is much more roomier, even in the 3rd seat.

I personally think you will love it. And it probably comes with a warranty and you can see the car fax right? They more loaded traverses are definitely harder to find. I looked in 3 states and finally found mine. I told hubby if I was getting a new car at that point I was getting all the bells and whistles HAHA...and I wanted the captains chairs and have never regretted that decision. But it is great for taking friends along...plenty of room.

Let me know what you decide!!!
