It was wonderful!!!

Loved Huntington Beach!!

As in the past, Jeanne and I found Disneyland and California Adventure not to be a fun experience. But Lily loved her weekend in California and it was good to get Jeanne away too!!

Now I'm counting down the days until they arrive for Christmas!!!! They are arriving on my birthday and it is by far the best birthday present I've ever received!!!

Sounds like a great trip!

We love the drawing class! Always a laugh for us, we really can't draw!!

The drawing class is one of my DD's favorite activities. We have quite a collection of characters. It's great when you have children to see how their abilities improve every year. My abilities have remained the same, however. LOL.

Are you staying YC/BC/BCV for the August trip, or elsewhere? You can tell us. We understand.

We are hoping to do an AKL/BCV split. It will be a birthday trip for my DD. We have the AKL part booked, but have to wait for our 7 month mark for the BCV part. I'll let you know in January. Fingers crossed :)

As for the trip, we realized that we're just not Deluxe people. We enjoyed the resort and walking to the parks, but we just really didn't take advantage of many of the amenities. We sat on the balcony once. We never went to SAB. We were also disappointed in the fact that there wasn't a place to fill mugs at YC after noon and after long days walking the parks, the walk to the Marketplace to fill up seemed even longer.

Ok...time for breakfast. I will try to check in later!! Thanks again to everyone who contributes to this thread!!!

I hope you enjoy the breakfast. At least there are a lot of choices for WDW vacations. You never know until you try!

I dropped off from checking in on the boards and now we are getting ready to leave. Some observations...but first, to answer BLTinkerbelle, I couldn't watch the Pats because they were airing Jacksonville v. Green Bay. I did see updates but wish I could have seen it instead.

We also don't think we'll come back for F&W. It really was so crowded and we're just not drinkers so it doesn't hold thexsame appeal for us as it would other people. The Halloween party was fun but I really think Disney should cut back on the number of people that they let it. It was almost impossible to move sometimes. But...we did get to visit the new Fantasyland during the party and we rode Little Mermaid. That was great.

Now...to the food. Wexwere on Deluxe Dining. We won't be doing that again. I wont say itxwas too much food because we know how much we eat and we almost never cleaned our plates so we didn't stuff ourselves. What didn't work for us is that we felt that so much of our day was spent getting to and from that we missed out on park time. So if you are thinking Deluxe Dining, think about how important park time is to you. We did di a 2ts every day, so we weren't doing 3 meals a day, but even that ate up too much time.

As for what we ate...Citricos was our favorite. Great food and service. We didn't love Cape May dinner, but heading to breakfast soon. And while food at Captain's Grille was great, service was terribly slow. Took 2 hours from the time we sat to when we got the check. And the place was not busy at all.

Thanks for your review. I agree with you that DxDDP just takes up too much time, and I've never wanted to be tied down to that many ADRs so we don't do it.
Sad you didn't make any use of SAB it's such a great pool. But, yes, deluxe isn't really worth it if you don't plan on having any resort time. We always build in a mid day break to enjoy the facilities

Question- would the mug refill station at Hurricane Hanna be closer then going over to The Marketplace? We are staying at YC in August, so just wondering. We prev. Stayed at BC, so Marketplace was easy.

After being absent for quite a while, I've been trying to catch up on this thread and realized that my dates are not listed on the Be Our Guest page. So....my dates are Nov 23- Dec 3 at YC. I'll be there again this year for a conference, but am mixing pleasure with business! Only 20 days and I'll be there! Can't wait!

Teena- welcome back! Looks like you had a fantastic visit with Jeanne and Lily. Loved the pictures and the beach looked fabulous. What a great birthday treat!!!

Dee - loved the pictures of Flat Ben and the Jaws poster!

Yes...Hurricane Hannah's would have been much closer. One of the main reasons we didn't use SAB was the weather. It was on the cool side and breezy most of the week. Yesterday and today would have been good days but our bathing suits never would have dried in time. I really need a disposable suit. Lol

Hi everyone!! I dropped off the board for a while but am excited to be back! We originally were scheduled for YC CL but had to cancel because of hubby getting a new job and I was on maternity leave unpaid, so we wanted to be frugal just in case! We had enough to cover a value, since we had flights paid already, and planned on Pop Century! II am thrilled to say, with hubby's overtime and my end of year bonus, we no longer have to be so frugal and will be back to BC CL!

So happy for you!!!!!

Hope everyone did ok with the storm on the East coast. Teena, are you working the weekend of the 17/18 of November? We will be stopping in to see the christmas decorations, and hopefully we will be able to say hello. Can't wait to smell the delightful gingerbread decorations again this year. Your pictures from your trip to see Lily are so adorable. Wish we could be staying at BCV again this trip, but OKW was only villa available for our trip. Happy to be staying at a villa though, it is so nice to have the kitchenette, and extra space.

Definitely that Sunday. Not sure if I'll be there Saturday or Monday.
See you soon!

Thanks for the info. My plan is to use Hurricane Hanna for mug refills, so thanks for confirming that it is closer! I really didn't pay much attention during our BC stay.

Hi everyone!

I have a reservation for the Yacht Club in November 2013, so I'd love to join this thread and get all the hints and tips about the resort!

I popped in to visit it this year when we had our trip in September and fell in love with it, only 365 days until I (plan) to fly over!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

If you have any questions, ask away! If you haven't been over to the first page of the thread, there is a lot of info and tons of pictures and links to help you plan your stay.

:cool1:

I'm so excited!!! I just booked our first stay at Beach Club for next October.

Looking forward to learning about this resort!!!

:welcome:

Glad to have you here! I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:goodvibes

Hi everyone! I'm joining this thread!! I started a new thread asking this question but I'll also ask here. If you had to pick between BC or YC, which would you pick and why?

Sent from my GalaxyS II

:welcome:

Please let us know when and where you book!

:yay:

I'm so excited. We are going 12/20-12/23. My youngest DS's birthday is Christmas day and he has no idea we are going. We told him we are going to try Universal for a change. He told us he would rather go to Disney! I can't wait to see the look on his face when we pull up to the gate at YC.(our home away from home)

The suspense is killing me. I had to share. I can't even add a ticker for the risk that he might see it ;)

:welcome:

What a great surprise!

I'll add you to the guest list.

:woohoo:

Thanks for clarifying your dates. I kinda sorta had you on the guest list under Nov, but now that you have let me know exactly when your trip is I'll put you in the proper place!

:woohoo:

Please, please, please, check the Be Our Guest list to make sure I have the info on your trip listed correctly.

If you see anything I need to change, or if you want to add specific dates, please post.

Post 13: Be Our Guest list

October was a blur!!! There was a death in my family, my son Ben was in theatre production with days and days of rehearsal and 5 shows, Ben also had a flag football tournament yesterday (his team played 5 26 minute games, and his Ravens came in 2nd). Oh yeah, and there was a hurricane!

Hoping I can do a better job keeping up in November. The main thing on my plate is a Casino Night I am running for the middle school on Nov 17.

Does anyone know what type of room is pictured on Disney's website's (Yacht Club section) with the all white bedding and an oval window on the balcony? It's quite lovely and different from the room we had there.

I couldn't copy off the picture to post here, but I see what you mean. I don't know what room that is- maybe one of the suites?

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/yacht-club-resort/

Click on the link and go to the rooms tab.

Here's a picture of the outside of the Yacht Club. If you look above the large tree in the marina, you can see the two circular windows on either side of the palladium window.

Anyone have any suggestions on best standard rooms to request???

What is important to you?

Location? Close to lobby/Stormalong Bay or close to EPCOT. High or low floor?
Balcony- if you are staying at BC, you may want to request a full-size balcony
Convenience- close (or far) from elevator
Daybed?
View? With as standard room, you will be overlooking a parking lot or rooftops.

We had a standard view in 2010 on club level and we could see some of the Illuminations fireworks and a lot of the MK fireworks from our balcony. This was a room on the fifth floor overlooking the BC parking lot and the Port Corchiere (sp) at the front entrance of the resort.

We do not advise asking for a particular room number as a request, but to try to verbalize what it is you want. That gives the room assigner the best chance to try to give you a room that meets your needs.

We also recommend that you check in at the resort (not the online advanced checkin) so you can discuss the features of your room before you take your keys.

Check out the info on room requests and online vs. in person checkin in the FAQ Post 12 on page 1.

I want to thank you all for the advice and information about our trip to YC. We had a fabulous stay! We were assigned room 5163 which has a very nice view but no balcony. I went back to the desk and asked if there was any way we could switch to a room with a balcony. We were then assigned room 5210. Parking lot view but at least I had a balcony. However, I quickly learned that a balcony is not something we use. :guilty: I wish we would've kept 5163 because this room was HUGE and it was very close to the lounge. Next time, I will know that having a balcony is not a high priority for us and will not request it.

We had a fantastic stay at YC and I can't decide which one I like best BC or YC. Either one is perfect for me! :cool1: Can't wait for my next trip!

Can anyone confirm...does one of the GV CL rooms at YC not have a balcony? Sounds like this may be the case.

I was thinking that all the YC CL rooms had a balcony. What do you think? Should I add "balcony" to my request?

On a side note, I hope all that were in Sandy's path continue to stay safe, especially those who still don't have power...

This is news to me. Does anyone have more info about this room?

Hello...I'm new to this thread but am definitely a WDW vet! :wave2:

We are Deluxe addicts, and want to check out the YC in the spring. We stayed years ago at BC, but didn't realize then the full extent of our addiction! :rotfl:

I'll be reading on this thread and getting ideas on any requests I might want to make for my sister and me, so we can have the full YC experience.:thumbsup2

I was particularly interested in someone's comment re: refilling the mug and having a longer walk to do so. I am a big coffee drinker and NEED my morning cuppa joe..exactly where is the Hurricane Hannah's that was mentioned to have a refill station?

Would love to be added to the "Be Our Guest List"
This will be our first stay at the Yacht Club!!!! cannot wait to be so close to Epcot :cool1: We usually stay at Contemporary and love being close to Magic Kingdom so this will be change.
Our dates are July 11, 2013 to July 19th. We will be celebrating our daughters 24th birthday while we are there :wizard:

Hi Kelleigh1:

Sorry you're not enjoying the resort as much as you thought you would. This time of year is tricky, weather wise. We have gone in Oct. & Nov. before and had some hot days & some cold days. My kids will go in the pools no matter what the weather is. I only go in the pools if the weather is hot. Since having kids, we always plan a mid-day break and one resort day. We do enjoy all the deluxe resorts have to offer. Before kids, we often stayed at CBR and loved it there.

I've been to F&W at Epcot a few times and enjoyed it. I found it very crowded on the weekends, but not so bad during the week. We also are not big drinkers, we like to try different foods. We have joked that Epcot should have a separate "Food Festival" for all the non-drinkers, maybe right after F&W ends.

I agree that deluxe dining is a lot of food. It is too much for my family and we don't want to be tied to too many ADR's. We have enjoyed the regular dining plan, club level, and TiW. Those are better options for my family. As with most things Disney, you don't know until you try it.

Thanks for checking in with us and sharing your thoughts. I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay and have a safe trip home.

Dee, we are so grateful for all you do! It's quite simply an AMAZING job!! No worries that you may be a little slow because of things going on at home and you are not your usual, super prompt self. Your efforts are very much appreciated and we want you to know that you are worth any wait.
